"Wonderful location, wonderful food.
As with most nice restaurants on Maui, it was pretty pricey, but as we are small eaters we enjoyed the taster's plate (appetizer, half-size entree and desert) for $26 which was not bad considering the AWESOME (but small) filet, creme brûlée and small Caesar salad... but if you have a larger appetite, you'll probably spend twice that much.
As with most nice restaurants on Maui, it was pretty pricey, but as we are small eaters we enjoyed the taster's plate (appetizer, half-size entree and desert) for $26 which was not bad considering the AWESOME (but small) filet, creme brûlée and small Caesar salad... but if you have a larger appetite, you'll probably spend twice that much.
We didn't eat at many places while in Hawaii, but of the few we went too, this one was really a treat. It was even more of a treat when I went out of my way to look this one up and found out it was walking distance from my hotel... along beautiful Ka'anapali Beach at sunset."

"Amazing views, watched the sunset (ideal time to go for great view and pics) and had the best food, drinks and dessert. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We had the best waiter so kind and thoughtful with all the kids. A++++ Next time we are in Maui we will be returning. Make sure you make reservations, because it does get busy. Thanks Dukes for great memories!! One of the highlights of our trip!"

"We were spending out twentieth wedding anniversary and then got both of our dinners wrong. Though the manager acknowledged the issue, and we had to wait to get this straightened out, we were surprised that he didn't at least take one of them off our bill. I just think that was a pour decision. Maybe it's restaurant policy, and if so, this needs to be reviewed. I don't what our waiter told the manager, who was apologetic, but seemed to do nothing. With that, we will not return ,nor will we recommend Duke's to anyone. Thank you for listening."

"Had a hard time deciding what to order. It all seemed good. Had the Kabobs....chicken, beef, pineapple and Maui onions were outstanding. Others had Pork Shanks which fell off the bone, and Swordfish which was very tasty. Highly recommend Dukes."

"Duke's has one of the nicest settings on Maui and is a convenient walk from where we were staying. Food was average and priced high for what it was. If you've eaten at Kimo's, which we had already in the week, the menu's are almost identical. Great service and when asked to be moved to a better seat it was accommodated instantly. My thoughts are at other's suggestions, that there may be better value either for breakfast or lunch and in the same setting."

"We had booked the dining room for this trip as it was our anniversary and we wanted something a little more than the outdoor seating and menu. We we not dissapointed. The food was excellent and the filet i had cooked perfectly. We were seated in a table close to the bar so there was quite a bit of foot traffic going past us on the way to the outside dining room, but we didn't really mind a whole lot. What really made this a great experience was the server. He was more than patient and very sweet to our 2 year old daughter who just didn't want to sit still. We appreciated him so very much! We will definately go back."

"Our second visit to Duke's Maui - this time to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. Unfortunately, despite making our reservation a full month in advance - which requested a table on the outside "edge" - we were seated at an inside table literally wedged between two very full tables. I fully understand the restaurant can not guarantee a prime seating location - but how many 25th anniversaries are celebrated each evening? Our hostess made no effort to fix this despite our mentioning it. The noise level on this night was "deafening" - I sure did not recall it being this noisy last time. The food and service was "so so" - so even that was a big let down from our prior visit. Worst value of entire two week trip to Maui - we won't be back."

"We celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary on April 14 2013. Reservations were at 6:00 p.m. for us and our two children, boys, ages four and six. We found Duke's was a great place for the occasion and was kid-friendly enough. We had not planned to dine alone that night because of babysitting charges in Maui, so bringing the children was a necessity. The food was very good, the staff was friendly and the price was about average for Maui restaurants. We had a very good meal and were treated well. I would recommend it for any special occasion."

"Duke’s in Kaanapali has a menu for everyone, even a vegetarian dish. Both self park and valet park is free, but remember to tip the valet. This a good place to watch the sunset, but make reservations early. We had a 6PM reservation and our booth was immediately available. The booth was great for conversation, put request outside front if you wish to watch the sunset. The server, Derek from California, was friendly and attentive. As usual we split a pupu, lobster bisque, and Rocket salad. My wife selected the Seafood risotto. It consisted of every fish on the menu, including the fishes of the day. It was an outstanding dish. I opted for a dish I never had, the Pork Shank. It was fall off the bone tender that had been braised 24 hour"

"We had reservations for 5:15pm, and it was a busy night at the restaurant. The food was very good, but the experience was ruined as we felt like we were being pushed to get out. We had barely enough time to sip a cocktail before the appetizer arrived. The main course arrived less than 5 minutes after the appetizer was cleared. It would have been nice to see a wine list, but the server was so busy there was no chnace until I went and got it myself. We ordered desert and received the bill before it arrived. The food was well prepared and fresh, impressive considering the volume they were producing. We won't be back for dinner, but maybe a lunch one day."

"Food and overall experience were great. In a convenient location close to resorts. Bar staff and hostesses were very friendly and great but our server seemed preoccupied and bothered by serving us. Delicious meal with local flare. Decent portion size, comparable to other restaurants in the area."

"The service was great. Our waiter was attentive. Views are awesome. Our food was ok. Kids meals are very small proportions. My pork shank fell off the bone and was flavorful, but the BBQ sauce it was serviced with was watered down and flavorless. The mashed potatoes had the texure of boxed potatoes. The grilled vegs were good. My husband's steak was cooked perfectly, but again the mashed looked, tasted and had the texure of boxed. He wouldn't even eat them. His meal came with corn (pretty unimpressive given his meal was $30+). My husband had a martini - which was good. My draft was good. The kids (boys young boys) were able to run around before/after our meal on the beach front. Great place to watch the sunset."

"We've eaten at most (all, in fact) of the Duke's throughout the islands and this version of their formula didn't measure up to the same standards we've come to expect from the chain. While the service was good, the menu and food preparation/quality were just OK (nothing special), but the booth we were seated in felt cramped and claustrophibic (even with two adults and two early teem children), which probably contributed to our overall impression of the restaurant. Probably wouldn't return again. Still, as most other contributors will say, the view was fabulous!"

"Made the reservation well in advance. It wa a cool wet evening. There were tent like walls let down to keep out the rain. We were seated around the corner, surrounded by 2 tent walls. The wind was cold. We couldn't see any other diners, just 3 walls. I asked for a warmer table. I was told this was all that was available If I were a walk in I would expect a terrible. The water was surely and curt. We were cold the whole time, had zero ambience and the food portions were minimal. My sons comment was 'I guess they go for quality over quantity'. I will never eat there again. Who wants to spend $200 for a dark cold table and go home hungry?"

"My family has been enjoying the many Dukes restaurant for 20 years and we always look forward to going. Unfortunately this dinner was highly dissappointing. Our waiter seemed bothered and short, we are not a difficult family. The dinner was not relaxing, we felt rushed. The portions of fish were very small and over cooked. Just not worth $30 a plate for the fish we had. We enjoyed better prepared fish tacos at lesser restaurants while on island. We will go for lunch so we can relax land enjoy the ambience but will not drop $170 on a lousy dinner. What happened? We go to other TS restaurants on Maui and had great meals. Hulas and Leilanis."

"On our recent visit to Maui, we visited Duke's on 3 occasions (1 dinner, 2 lunches). Our dinner was spectacular - fresh, delicious entrées - excellent service. Our waiter was attentive and advised us well. We loved the food and the view so much that we returned for lunch twice. The second lunch we brought another family - our children couldn't wait to go back - they enjoyed their food and of course the view. We will definitely return."
