This is the story of Paolo and Matteo, two guys from Milano who had an idea. Let's take the the heart of our tradition and fuse it with the exciting innovations happening in Italian cooking, they said. Inspired by the Roman deity Janus who looked to the future as well as the past, Giano respects tradition and embraces the future. Enter Simone Bonelli. After 4 years at a Michelin starred restaurant in Italy, he came to NY to where it took him about 6 months to earn 2 stars from Frank Bruni at a publication you may have heard of, The New York Times. As executive chef and co-owner, Chef Bonelli blends cutting edge technique & gorgeous flavors with outstanding presentation- and for those of you who think you've seen it all, trust us, you haven't. We like to think of our little corner in the east village as quite special, and hope you will too
"Took my girlfriend here for valentines day this year. After spending many hours searching for the right restaurant, I found myself being very critical during my experience there. I was very happy with the experience. Service was good, not outstanding. Appetizers were Better than entrees an the dessert was good as well. Nice wine selection and very nice atmosphere for a romantic evening. Many of seats were close together but we requested a quieter table not next to everyone and they were very accommodating. I would definitely recommend this place."

"it is always great at Giano: tasty and original Italian food, attentive service and special desserts. I feel too bad for all others restaurant owners and guests..."

"First time going there with a group of friends and boy! am I amazed at the decor of the restaurant. Greeted by friendly waiters, we were seated fairly quickly with our reservation. Food was authentic Italian, with just the right amount of cheese to bring out the flavor and aroma of the dish. The thing most worthy of mention has to be the tiramisu. Amazing! Guess the waiter was not kidding, when he said it is one of the top five tiramisu that you will ever taste in the world. It literally melts in your mouth."

"We had a great meal. I believe our server may have been the owner, he was very friendly and had a wonderful sense of humor. Our seven year old daughter was with us and enjoyed the gnocchi. We had a really nice time. I would certainly return."
