"Although the restaurant was packed, we were seated in about 15 minutes from the time of our reservation. Our server Taylor was excellent. Running to get drinks, appetizers and our dinner out. Everything was prepared deliciously. Can't wait to come back."

"McCools always offers delicious food, however service was lacking this time as the usual hostess was not there and I had a special Mother's Day reservation and no one attended to us for 20 minutes because as the waitress eventually explained "there was confusion about who our table assigned to". McCools is a great place to go to if you want delicious food and beverage and you are willing to spend a higher price for the beverages."

"This is probably my 5th or 6th time here. The food and ambience is always very good and the lovely lady playing piano on Saturday evening adds a special touch. My only complaint ..the wine list has a lot to be desired....one brand of wine making it obvious that they are dealing with someone who is giving them good prices. A variety of wines for those who enjoy wine would be the final touch to a wonderful dining experience. Wine and more wine...please!!...I love the creamy spinach. Oh yes...add a Canadian beer to the selections...Labatts, Molson, Moosehead..."

"Tables too close together, no tablecloths on tables and bread not offered with meal which we felt we should of been offered bread especially when eating spicy food and also had drinks, wine and appetizer waitress service was fair she was very nice but was not taught how to wait on tables I guess I should of expected restaurant to be a bar type restaurant not a quiet evening restaurant."

"When you book McCooles, make sure you specify where you want to sit. We reserved a table for 4 the day before, and got put at a really uncomfortable bar table in a dark cold corner of the noisy bar. They have a real nice beautiful dining area, so when we go again, we will ask to be seated there."

"This was my second visit; i will go again. the food was good, we had a reservation and were seated immediately, and the service was very good. It was a bit noisy and made conversation difficult; me and my guest had to repeat ourselves often. Other than the noise factor, the atmosphere is inviting and comfortable."

"I had never eaten here before and I had friends coming in from out of town. Someone recommended McCoole's at the Red Lion Inn. We had a group of 6. Some had fish and some had different cuts of beef. Everyone raved about how good it was. Highly recommended."

Most entrees near $20, wines are retail $10 bottles marked up double, about 15 on the total list, but you can find something that is OK. Large menu features bar food, sandwiches, pastas or entrees - you can get whatever you're in the mood for. This restaurant has improved considerably since the last time I was there."

"Love the warm colonial atmosphere with stone walls, fire place, exposed beams and copper ceiling. The prime rib and the sesame encrusted yellowfin tuna were both perfectly cooked to medium rare. Even the vegetables, steamed broccoli and roasted carrots, were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The warm bavarian apple torte with cinnamon ice cream was amazing. The service was very good - attentive, but not bothersome. The only problem was that it was a little noisy. Our table for 2 was surrounded by several parties of 6 and 8 that were obviously celebrating special occasions and enjoying themselves very much. I will try to get back more often for the delicious food at very reasonable prices."

"We were seated betwenn two fireplaces warming us on a wintry blustery day. The warmth was continued, by servers who were friendly, efficient and who appeared conerned that we had a good time. The food was wonderful and so abundant we took home doggie bags. Dining in surroundings that are creatively tasteful added to our good experience.However, you could have served us in a cave, and it would have been great because your staff and chef are superb."

"Cozy ambiance in a colonial era inn! Rich woodwork, thick stone walls, and an eclectic mix of old tables & chairs gives this inn an authentic feeling. The menu offers a wide variety of choices, from sandwiches and salads to main entrees, all reasonably priced. Our food arrived in good time, and was generously portioned and delicious. We had a child with us, and a kid's menu would have been appreciated, (our 10-year-old could not fit her mouth around the huge burger!) but I would still recommend this restaurant to anyone."

"Had dinner this past Friday at a table in the bar area with some friends. Our waiter was attentive and our food was prepared exactly as requested. Portions were generous and of good quality and presentation. This was our second time at McCoole's in the last 2 months and we have been very satisfied both visits. Will dine here again."

Our male waiter was a grump though and wasn't familar with the bar selections.
This was the only time in our visits that we had below par wait staff.
Bar tender was very friendly after dinner.

"The past few times we've been here, my husband and I have been very disappointed with the service and staff. If it's not the wait staff, it's with the rude hostesses. The food seems to be a different variation every time, no consistency whatsoever. My husband repeatedly orders the same dish and it is prepared differently every time. When this restaurant first opened it was fabulous, however, it is slowly but surely going down hill. They really have to work on their customer service and make that the #1 priority. They have truly lost sight of that. I don't think we'll be coming back anymore."

"We went here for a celebration and all 4 of us had wonderful meals. It was busy when we went, but the service was great and we didn't have to wait long at all for our food. Our table had 2 orders of beef tenderloin, apple vinegar chicken and salmon and everything was delicious, including our salads and soups."

"The main entree was very tasty. The lobster bisque was very poor in taste. We also made reservations a week in advance and were disappointed that we were placed in the bar area. We were at a high table and were crowed in the corner. There was a loud group at the bar so it made it very hard to have any conversation. I think in another part of the restaurant, we might have been a little more comfortable. I do not think I would drive the distance to go here again, but if I was in the area, I might stop in for a quick bite."

"Overall the experience was good. Waitress was very attentive and accomidating. Atmosphere was not like our last experience here. Seated with a large party we were close to the door where it was extremely cold for all of us. Had to leave our coats on throughout dinner. Need to insulate their windows or add a fireplace to this room. Also didnt like the fact that if you brought your own cake in to celebrate, they want to charge you a cutting the cake fee."
