"Very creative and lovingly prepared dishes with a 'Mediterranean' bias, using lots of good herbs, interesting cheeses, and some novel combinations. I had the Sheep's milk Gnudi and a mushroom risotto, both had a great freshness about them with clearly distinguishable and well matched flavours. Most of our group commented that their dishes were great and the food was brought out in a well timed manner. The ambience was 'fun' but the front covered courtyard with its uneven floor has a somewhat downmarket feel to it relative to the quality and pricing of the food."

"We went to Casbah to celebrate my birthday (NOTE: if you are not part of The Big Burrito Company's mailing list, you need to be. You receive a complimentary entree each year on your birthday!). Our reservations were for 6 p.m. The early dinner time on a weeknight made for an absolutely incredible experience. The food was outstanding--as always. But because we were there so early, our service was amazing as well. The server was quite knowledge about all menu selections and attended to our every need. If you love great food, Casbah is a MUST!!!"

"Took my son & his girlfriend here. Seafood we had was great--grilled octopus, salmon, and other fish. Service was excellent. Son's girlfriend ordered a meal that had cheese without her realizing it; and she can't handle cheese. They were very accommodating about taking the food back and bringing another entree, even though it wasn't really their fault. The replacement fish dish was cooked to perfection, yet came fairly quickly. The desserts were delectable and my son asked to return to try brunch after his graduation. That also was a delightful family meal, so this is on our "go to" list when visiting Pittsburgh's Oakland area."

"I enjoy Casbah. It has pretty good food, sometimes very good. It is dependable, always. Great for visitors to Pittsburgh who want to go to a Pittsburgh restaurant. The service is always very good. It is quite wonderful for special occasions because of the service, and also because everyone can find something to eat on their menu."

"I've been to Casbah a handful of times and every time it is consistantly good. It has a very comfortable yet intimate atmosphere and more importantly the food hasn't fallen over the years from its high standard that it had since it first opened. Derrick, our server did everything perfectly. very helpful and attentive. i do think of casbah as somewhere i go on a special occasion, though and not so much for its bar scene or a random choice for a night out to dinner. thank you so much for the pleasant experience and outstanding food. Casbah is definitely on my list of places to return and recommend."

"For an appetizer my partner and I shared the Crispy Calamari, very tasty with a delicious sauce. The crusty bread was served with a garlic butter spread or a Greek yogurtt based spread that was very good. I ordered the Grilled Swordfish and it was very good but not outstanding. 4 stars for the swordfish. My partner ordered the Long Island Duck, based on the recommendation of our waitress. My partner loved it. She insisted I try a bit and I had to agree. 5 stars for the duck.
A very, very good meal that was accompanied by truly outstanding service. Our waitress was truly a gem. She seemed to take great pride in the fare at Casbah. Very helpful and pleasant but not intrusive. We will definitely return."

"We will absolutely visit Casbah again - the food was amazing and the selection very interesting. The sword fish was perfect. I would have given our "overall experience" 5 stars except for one thing. We had early reservations and the dining area was nearly empty yet my husband and I were seated right next to a table with 3 small children. While the kids were fairly well behaved, occasional loud shrieks and screams were common. I know this is not the restaurant's fault, but the hostess/host should be more aware of the seating arrangement. There were many empty tables for 2 away from the noisy family. No, we did not ask to be reseated, so we are partly to blame as well. EVERYTHING else about the dining experience was excellent."

"first, the waitress was pathetic. she couldn't explain any of the dishes in any depth. she had no idea the capabilities of the bar. when i asked if they could make a mint julep, she had no idea. second, there was no vegetarian entree, like a freaking salad. the other food options were generally inspired and the fish we had was cooked well. dessert was disappointing. overall, the food/experience/enjoyment was way overpriced for what we got. i did not leave feeling like i can't wait to come back again. free valet service was awesome though!"

"We took the whole family for brunch to celebrate a special occasion. Although we had placed the reservation late, they could accommodate us and even found us room on the patio. The selections were great, and everyone found something they enjoyed a great deal, even our 3-year-old grandson. The waiter and chef went out of their way to adjust some menu items to ensure everyone was pleased. We'll be going back."

"The atmosphere is what makes this place. I had the beet salad to start, licked the plate clean basically. My boyfriend and I shared the sea scallop appetizer since it was the first time trying scallops for the both of us, they were pretty tasty, although the dish only consisted of two scallops for $7 a piece. We both tried the pork chop and it was good I just wished there were a little more of the sauce on it, also the risotto it was paired with was fantastic. We tried two desserts, the dark choc raspberry bread pudding which was fresh out of the oven and big enough to share between the two of us--but I wasn't a fan. The chocolate cheesecake, on the other hand, was only large enough of one of us and I polished off most of it, delish!"

"This week I went to casbah twice, both with similar results. The food both times was absolutely fantastic. Both times the service was extremely slow. Like they could replace the turtles on the comcast commercials with the servers slow. I called up after the first time, and they said it was an especially busy night. Ok, I get that. They also said it would be better next time. This last visit was for an 8pm reservation (far from a poppin time), but again extremely slow. We didn't get out of there for a good 2 hours.
I recommend highly if you like good food and have a lot of time to kill."

"I had the Casbah double cut pork chops and my wife had the cavatelli (ricotta, house fennel sausage, hand made pasta) and we both enjoyed our dishes, hers was better than mine - sausage & pasta was great. for appetizers she had the salad weith goat cheese, I had the Charred octopus. All the food was well prepared, but nothing stood out as amazing. The service was great, helpful, there but not intrusive, and all very friendly. The best part was the htequila cocktail with serrano pepper and the fresh baked brea (from sister restaurant Eleven) We did have a great time though, and the restaurant is spacious, so you don't have people knocking into your chair nor do you have to listen to your neighbors conversations"

"The ambience at Casbah is amazing! Very cozy yet romantic and has a Mediterranean feel to it as well! I recommend this restaurant to all foodies! Our appetizers, main courses and dessert were all amazing! The service was fantastic all around. Very attentive and the chef even sent out a side dish on the house while waiting for our meal because he said he was displeased with the first prep and wanted to do it over but not keep us waiting! Even the bread on the table was amazing! Really loved this place and would definitely recommend it!"

"Excellent experience all around. Entrees are a little pricey as many have mentioned, but you can have lower cost pasta dishes. We both had fish, which was excellent. But the price reflects market price in the grocery stores for sea bass etc. Great for a special occasion."
