"Delicious, amazing food and I'm vegan and my partner's vegetarian so that's saying quite a bit. Our server was very helpful with recommendations and did not act put out by my many questions about ingredients."

Review 2 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"I would have said Paris, but the staff was friendly, not snooty. We had a marvelous evening at Bistro Bobette. The cocktails were refreshing, not sweet. We really enjoyed talking to the manager and bartender (we're from DC and the chef ran Lavandou for many years). The food - charcuterie plate, rabbit stew, halibut steak, creme brûlée - was some of the best we've ever had. The tables around us were talking moral philosophy, travel and singing. Great, romantic, fun, sophisticated evening! We'll be traveling back to Richmond to return."

Review 3 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"Quite possibly the best meal I have ever had in Richmond. The staff here is amazing and know their menu well! We sampled three different appetizers all of which were fabulous! The goat cheese Crostini was my favorite but the hearts of palm were a close second! The Bistro steak was the most tender steak I have had. I will go back again and again for this! The lamb and trout my friends ordered were also met with high praise! The Crème Brulee for dessert was just perfect! The only negative thing I could say was I was a bit confused when I entered the restaurant, as the first one there the décor made me wonder if I had come in the wrong door or perhaps need to go grab a towel and a bar of soap. The dining area however was beautiful!"

"A wonderfully romantic place. The duck confit is absolutely delicious paired with the Malbec. Wendy, the co-owner, is a delight paired with her Parisian chef in the kitchen."

Review 5 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"We have been to Bistro Bobette before and the service is always great, as is the food! The owners are very nice and greet their customers and stop by the table throughout the evening. This visit was during restaurant week so it was more crowded than usual but the food was still excellent. They also have great specialty cocktails."

Review 6 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"What an unexpected surprise! As consummate travelers and foodies , this has been the finest , most memorable, well executed food available anywhere. Escargot superior, well seasoned with garlic, Pernod and butter served piping hot in French cast iron cookware.
Phyllo dough wrapped pork trotters, a foodie delight. Diver sea scallops, best we have ever had! No Chef handles Calf's liver quite like this French Chef. Truly memorable. Homemade Profiteroles and perfect creme brulle to finish.
Hip, vibrant atmosphere and excellent customer service. Hostess and owner made sure guests were taken care of. A fun and lively crowd. We will be back!!!"

Review 8 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"The Tuna Tartare app came with seaweed mixed in it...not stated in menu description...could not eat it. The two entrees, meat and fish, both came out very cold. Sent both back...both returned to us the same way, cold. Our waiter basically ignored us once a large table arrived. The hostess was very nice...she tried to accommodate us! Nice atmosphere...too bad the food does not meet the mark!"

Review 9 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"Let down by dinner. I've been a few times before and had a great time. Our service was really slow. We were sat ASAP when we walked in about 8:50pm. The whole evening took 2hrs & 20mins by the time we got the check &left. Way too long for 3ppl. Everything just took a long time, our drink order, getting bread, time between courses etc. Server was fine but nothing great, not sure if he was overwhelmed or just a bit slow. One diner didn't care for the lamb entree, he sent it back and got his new order of the beef quickly, thanks. We were told at the time of desserts that you were out of the creme brulee, a bit annoying but it happens. It would have been nice to know that before they were bringing the d"

Review 10 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We took the opportunity to try Bistro Bobette during restaurant week 2013 and found the fixed price menu to have a variety of choices. My husband had the flounder which was delicious while I had the shrimp risotto, also delicious although I thought the risotto was slightly undercooked. Our waiter was quite helpful and attentive. We would definitely return to Bistro Bobette in the future."

"The food was country French. Lesser cuts of meat(Lamb loin)used and overcooked. The dessert was unrecognizable (chocolate pudding, over gelled, solid). The bread and salads and Crème Brulee were good."

Review 12 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"It was a nicenice overall experience, though the wait staff seemed a bit un-knowledgeable with how to pour beer and or what items were available or not on the menu. The food was good overall, though there were some hickups. We started with the goat cheese crostini and country pate, then had the lamb and duck confit which were good entree choices. We ended with the chocolate banana crepe and the chocolate pudding. The country pate was a bit hard and until we asked for it, didn't seem to come with breadbread, and the duck confit was a bit too salty, and the chocolate pudding had a gritty texture, little chocolate flavor, and was very hard. The marshmallow and orange sauce that came with the pudding was truly divine in comparison."

"We are picky foodies, and really loved Bistro Bobette. The waiter was knowledgeable and not too friendly or cloying. The food was fresh, well-balanced and came out of the kitchen with proper pacing. The vibe is elegant without any pretense. We are looking forward to our next visit. Mondays offer no corkage fee and tuesdays have a vegetarian price fixe."

Review 14 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"Outstanding rustic French food. Not pretentious, real food. Quality ingredients superbly prepared. Wine list is a bit overpriced, but the selections are excellent. The corkage fee is also excessive. Overall, the dining experience is worth the price. If you're on a budget and want terrific Provencal food, bring your own wine on Monday night when the corkage fee is waived."

Review 19 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"This is a place to be transported over to a small street in Lyon - where sweetbreads, country pate, and cornichons are on your mind. French comfort food, with a twist. Beef stew over truffled macaroni and cheese, Steak and Pommes Frites - all delicious! The country pate was excellent. Unfortunately, they ran out of vanilla ice cream - no profiteroles tonight...
This was our preamble to the French film festival - and it set us up perfectly! Wendy and the staff are attentive with the front of the house. Had guests in from New York, they loved it..."

Review 20 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"I was actually very disappointed in what I ordered. I have been there on many occassions and I always ordered the liver because I love it and it was the best I had ever tasted. Before it was always two nice pieces of liver which I actully would share sometimes so others at the table could taste it. All I received this time was a piece that was a little biger than the palm of my hand and it had grizle in it. The bread was very crusty and the butter so hard you could hardly spread it. Liver is a relative inexpensive meat and to charge $13.00 is outragious for the portion I received. The vegie dish was good but not excellent. I feel the quality of the food was not what it use to be."

"Had dinner here with my fiancée last Friday night and had a wonderful time. The food was absolutely incredible, the atmosphere was great, and the service was impeccable. Our waiter, John (I believe) was the perfect balance of being attentive but not intrusive, really making for a wonderful evening. For appetizers we had the olives, the cheese plate, and the escargots. All were delicious, and the escargots was especially delightful. For the main course, I had the lamb medallions which I would certainly go back for.
I could not recommend this place highly enough."

"Brought business associates to Bobette for lunch. Great spot for a meeting. Service outstanding, spot on. Derek was professional and attentive. Clients were blown away by the food. Tuna tartare, best they have had. Beet salad big hit. Sauteed flounder amazing! Homemade desserts well, they could not understand how the Chef did it!. Been there very often, but it was a pleasure to introduce new people to this gem of a restaurant."

"Celebrated my husband's birthday. The food was outstanding and while the kitchen got a little backed up, Wendy the owner was so great and so apologetic that it didn't matter that we had to wait a bit for our meal. And when the food arrived it was so great that it was well worth the wait. I think we have found our "birthday" restaurant and we can't wait to go back!"

Review 26 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"This is a classic french bistro with a quaint, romantic feel and delicious, authentic french dishes. We found the stuffed calamari to be unique and tasty. My husband had the daube provencal and found it to be tasty, even if the mac & cheese was overpowered a bit by the truffle oil. My trout was outstanding. Be sure when making a reservation to ask for a table along the wall or in the booth section so you aren't stuck in the middle of the walkway. I had a particular issue with the service, addressed it with the manager, and she went above and beyond to make sure we left happy. Ultimately that is excellent customer service!"

Review 28 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"I lived in NYC for 11 years and now reside outside of DC. My husband and I went to Richmond for a long weekend getaway after his return from an 8th month deployment in Afghanistan. We found Bistro Bobette and I was pleasantly surprised. I made a special request for our dinner and they graciously accommodated, making it a very memorable evening for us celebrating my husband's safe return. The decor is chic and very New York. Being a foody, the menu was impressive. We were very pleased with our apps/entrees and wine. Better food than some of the bistro's in NYC and Paris I have visited. The owner and staff are professional, courteous, and warm. We will definitely revisit when back in Richmond!"

Review 29 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"I made my reservation for 8:15. That afternoon, they called to see if I could push it back about 15 minutes, he would "make it worth my while". We arrived about 8:25 and didn't get seated until 8:55. Service was very slow because apparently the hostess was out, but even after nobody else needed to be seated, it was still very slow. As soon as we finished dessert, with no lingering around, we left at 11:30. I didn't see anything that made it "worth my while". My dinner was good, but my husband said his dish pretty bad. Dessert was labeled as a bread pudding, but was more like a dense chocolate fudge brownie with a very small blob of cream on the side. Not a very good experience."

Review 30 for Bistro Bobette (formerly Bouchon - Richmond)
"We've been to Bistro Bobette before and loved it and wanted to try it again for a special night. Knowing it would be busy, we expected a bit of a wait and for our server to take a bit longer, this restaurant is notorious for slower service. What we did not expect, was to sit at our table and have a server ask us if we would like water or sparkling and never show up again. We waited 25 minutes and decided to leave. Not sure if we will be trying again. Maybe next time we'll just enjoy the bar atmosphere. Only 1 star for everything since we weren't actually able to try anything."
