Carmichaels Steakhouse
Carmichael's is a true gem located in the revived West loop. It is old Chicago with real style. A phenomenal culinary experience with a fabulous outdoor patio and a hearty Steakhouse dining room. With scrumptious bread baskets and beer cheese, to mouth watering BBQ shrimp and most delicious Certified Angus Beef Steaks. Of course no meal is complete without the delectable desserts our Chef prepares. Our centrally located restaurant is right off 290 and 94, complimentary Valet parking for every guest who dines at the restaurant. Located just a few blocks from the Opera House and the Theater district, a few minutes to the United Center, it is always nice to take advantage of our complimentary Carmichael's shuttle to and from all events at the United Center. Within Carmichael's we have 3 private dining rooms ranging in size for special and private dining. The comfortable atmosphere, inviting staff and the impressive dining experience will be one you will only find here at Carmichael's.

"We don't eat in Chicago very often and was looking forward to eating in this steakhouse. This was a special outing for us and a bit of a splurg. Our table was ready when we arrived. Service was good. Loved the creamed spinach. Strip steak had an excellent flavor, but was very disappointed that it was a tuff piece of meat and hard to chew. Definitely not worth the price."

"sat at 6:15 on a Sunday, . from we did not get our steaks until 7:15, though we did have an app and a salad, done with those course by 6:55 and sat for 20 minutes with nothing. server did not bring out food, more importantly didnt check in with us for 7 minutes. I ordered a filet MR and got a somewhat medium steak that wass charred and burnt to the point where I couldn't cut into itt. shocked that something looking like that was allowed to leave the kitchen. 7:22 my steak was taken back, after an argument that it was cooked right and it was the lighting. 7:45, I got my steak back; manager apologized because they were busy and the kitchen was backed up...it wasn't even half full, but you mess up a steak, you fix it first, 5 min tops."

"I've never been to this restaurant before though it has been around forever. I had a wonderful experience, from the person answering the phone when I called about reservations (twice :) to the hostess and server once we were there. The food was very good and I loved the ambiance. They have what looks to be a nice outdoor seating area and I'll look forward to visiting that in the summer. Only real 'complaint' is that it is on the pricey side, but worth it given the experience."

"A solid steakhouse with good food and service just blocks from the United Center, make this spot a really nice choice.
The salads were great, the steaks were done as requested (except for one), and the service was friendly and timely.

"I've dined at most Chicago steakhouses and this met and exceeded my expectations on my first visit. Filet mignon was perfect, one of the best I've ever had. We went for an anniversary pre-concert early-ish dinner to take advantage of the United Center shuttle, and it was a great choice if you're looking for the UC shuttle with an upscale dinner first. I always get creamed spinach at steakhouses as well and this also may have been the best I've had anywhere. Dessert and wine list also great, and service was just right. Didn't dine outdoors but the park area next to the outdoor dining would also make a great outdoor dining experience. I'll be back."

"Tried as a result of Gilt City deal. Never heard of Carmichael's but pleasantly surprised. It a nice quite W. Loop neighborhood not far from UC. Street parking is to find. Very nice inside. Server was very accommodating to meet special diet needs. Food was great with lots of great selections. Price was not cheap but probably better than the better known Steakhouses in town, but just as good food and service. Didn't eat outside because of weather, but they did have large attractive outdoor seating. Definitely recommend this place"

"Not much needs to be said - in a city full of good steakhouses, Carmichael's is as good as any other. It is a little bit distant from the crazy downtown area - but this is a good thing in my honest opinion. Great ambiance, good selections, and actually good seafood too. The nice touch is their cheese spread (made with beer) for their bread basket - very unique and very tasty. Will definitely come again."

"Always enjoy a great meal here, however, last visit impacted by inferior service. Although dinning room relatively empty when we were seated, took forever for server to visit table and went long periods between visits. Served dishes with her big ol' thumb planted squarely in the middle of the plate (yuck!). Took so long to see the desserts, that we wound up deciding against it . Took at least 15 minutes to get our check (we had to request it) and another 15 minutes to get my credit card back. Server was borderline rude on a couple of occaisions. Server's attitude and lackluster attention to service made this trip to Carmichael's subpar compared to what we normally receive there."

"Brought my girlfriend here - it was the first time either of us had been to the restaurant. Server was great in making recommendations and a decent price for a delicious steak. I could imagine the place being romantic but wished it were a little quieter (what could I expect for a Friday night though?). I made reservations, which was great - we were seated within a minute of speaking with the host. Bread was a little cold, and cheese spread kind of tasted like cheese-from-a-can or the kind in the sealed packets with crackers for kids...but the meal itself and the french onion soup were delicious. The steaks more than made up for these slights though - the Al Forno crust was amazing and the butter and garlic was a close second."

"I've eaten here many times. And always received excellent service. However this time my experience was not up to expectations. I was celebrating a values colleagues birthday and professional accomplishments. I selected Carmicheals because I wanted a seamless experience that would impress my colleague.
I mentioned the occasion in the comments section of open table reservation. When we arrived we were seated by a gentleman working the host stand. He then took our drink orders. I got up and privately requested the cake. He said ok. Eventually a waitres took over and took the food order. She was unable to be properly attentive because of a preparation for a large party outside. I asked about cake, she hasn't been told. Not good."

"Dinner was good. Steak was a bit over done. Service was slow from the time we were seated. It was 10 minutes from the time we were seated that we made our drink order. Food was good. Carmichaels should move back into the Loop."

"Carmichael's was a great choice for a recent celebratory lunch. The food was fantastic (steaks, burger, tenderloin salad, and cheesesteak sandwiches were had). Everyone received what they requested, prepared to the to the doneness they specified."

Waiter & Hostess no caring and just plain rude
Food uneatable oysters Rockefeller--- took waiter 10 minutes to return-Oh really I'll deduct them from the bill
Had been there many times and loved--Never to return--They have changed and no one cared"

"My mother, sister and I went to Carmichael's when it first opened. We were even featured in a newspaper article! Don't ask which one. (it's been that long!) My whole family has been going to Carmichael's for several years now. We mostly go on special occasion s like Mother's Day, Father's Day and birthdays as we live in the city and the far southern suburbs of Illinois. Carmichael's has never disappointed!! Always a thumbs up!!"

"I love the cut and texture of steaks! The house salad is great especially with ranch and balsamic vinegarette dressing. The mah Thai was delicious! I recommend the Niderkorn and Mel B's steaks!! This was my fourth visit and no complaints thus far."

"I do not know of a better place to go before a Blackhawks game than Carmichaels. Place is packed but they don't limit their menu. Everything is cooked perfect. Service is on the ball. And to top it off they take you in their shuttle bus for free to the stadium and back. So convenient especially if you are meeting other people to attend the game. Plus they have free valet parking! What a great set up."

"The food was excellent. We got the oysters rockefeller to start and then the salmon and steak as our entrees. We were in the mood for a bottle of red wine - something to span the meat and fish entrees. Our excellent waiter made a recommendation for an Italian pinot that was spot on - exactly what we were hoping for. It was a quiet night and our waiter let us converse and only interrupted when he knew we wanted some help. I'm glad to have this place within walking distance."
