"My boyfriend and I love the bustling, swirling, delicious world of Teatro. We share several small plates, the better to sample all the interesting flavors. A scallop ceviche, was very fresh with satisfying coarse ground crunch of salt . The risotto was velvety yum with shrimp and saffron. The truffle fries are always a must.
I always joke that they might have an attractiveness code for the staff, because they are all handsome/beautiful and unique. Our waiter had some pearls offsetting his black attire which was fabulous.They get you served and out on time for curtain without feeling rushed, but are adept at explaining the specials and suggesting a wine with patience."

"Teatro is a go-to place for me when I'm heading to the theater. The menu is interesting, the food is not "foodie" level, but good and the wine list isn't huge, but way more interesting than comparable restaurants. This last time was a let down. My order was wrong and when the right one came, it was very blah. After the glitch, I got the sense that the waiter wrote us off."

"This was our first time at Teatro, with another couple who had eaten there several times before. The food was as good as they told us it would be (that is, very good indeed but not on the list of all-time memorable meals). The ambience was OK; the decor does not quite disguise the barn-like nature of the restaurant. The service was somewhat indifferent; our friends assured us that it was usually even worse. The waitstaff certainly worked hard enough, but the place is large and it filled up; I think the waitstaff were just a bit overwhelmed. This review seems too negative as I re-read it; Teatro is just fine and I am sure we will go there again. It's just that I expected more in the sense of unusual menu choices and a more mellow ambience."

"Went pre-theater and everything went just right. The service started off a bit slow, which concerned us since we needed to leave at a set time, but it improved as the night progressed. Apps of carpaccio, calamari and soup were enjoyed by all. Two ordered the orecchiete and were not disappointed. The scallops were a bit overdone but still good. My buccatini carbonara, the special of the night, was excellent - creamy but not over the top. Our only complaint is that is was VERY loud."

"This is our third visit and we were pleased to discover that this restaurant is still one of the best in Boston. Our meal was outstanding; the mussels and the calamari were fabulous. We rarely order calamari because restaurants do not know how to cook it properly. But Teatro cooks calamari to perfection. Ditto the mussels, which were served out of the shell in a wonderful aromatic broth. Our entrees of gnocchi and a carbonara special were also delicious and perfectly presented. For dessert, we shared a delicious panna cotta. Prices are moderate. Teatro is a wonderful restaurant with a beautiful, unusual decor (it was a former synagogue). Our server was attentive but did not seem as friendly or as dedicated as the other servers."

"Great pre-Theater dining spot. Always love dining at Teatro. Slight changes in the menu assure that the menu does not get stale. Service was great, fast, attentive without being cloying. We had plenty of time to make the theater curtain call without asking specifically for quick service. The food was flavorful and hot and was just what we ordered."

"This was my second time dining at Teatro. I was surprised that the menu had significantly changed since my last visit in December. The choices were still plentiful and the presentation and flavors were superb. I like that diners may select the size of the entree, either as an appetizer portion or full dinner portion. My only criticism would be that Teatro, although advertised as a theatre district restaurant, does not validate parking."

"I hadn't been to Teatro for a while and was looking forward to a great meal. Some things were great, the Tuna Tartare and the panna cotta. Everything else was underseasoned and kind of ordinary. Even the peartini wasn't so good.

"Our first visit in a long time. Don't know why, really, because it is a lovely place, and the food is great! Tsbles are a bit too close together, and the long narrow room does make it noisy, but the high high ceiling helps mitigate claustrophobia. We shared a lovely beet salad and a very good lemon sole.
