"We went to Chloe for the first time this past Friday night. The place had a friendly feel and the service was fine, but the food was only okay, at best. The salmon tasted bland and was served oddly on a wooden plank over a napkin. The striped bass was overwhelmed by all the capers. We ordered a white wine called Solaris that was maybe the worst wine we've ever had. It could have fueled a go-cart. It cost $21 and I've had much better wine from Trader Joe's that retails for $5 a bottle. We asked to sample some before we ordered the bottle but were told that because it was not sold by the glass, no bottle was open and so we couldn't try it. Yes, we should have sent it back. On the other hand, the restaurant should never have served it."

"I have been to Chloe several times and it is always enjoyable. A charming little French-style bistro in, believe-it-or-not, downtown Hudson. On my last visit it had a guitarist singing in the bar, followed by recorded French music. The friendly waitress split our shared salad without being asked. The salmon was generous and cooked perfectly. The molten chocolate cake was decadent. When I made my reservation, I asked for a candle in the dessert and they remembered. This is a great little place in the suburbs."

"The food was good, slightly expensive for the meal we had, but I would pay the same price again. The service was not great. At one point I think our waitress forgot about us. It was very crowded and loud, not the romantic dinner we were looking for on Valentines. Although I have been hearing about this restaurant for years and the food was better then average, I do not think I would go out of my way to eat here again."

"The menu selection is good, but the food was not tasty. Seasonings were weak and some of the meal tasted bland. (We tried the Wed PM wine dinner. Mushroom Risotto was properly cooked but flavorless. My wife had Chicken which was fine, but the accompanying potato's were overcooked and way too soft. I Had Boullibase and the seafood tasted fresh but the broth lacked flavor. No reason to soak it up with bread.)

Surprise of the evening was the refusal to honor a gift certificate for payment. Called before we arrived to confirm the certificate would be accepted towards the wine dinner and told yes. At check-out the manager refused to accept it and it likely cost them a customer. I paid my bill and threw the certificate in the trash."

"Very disappointing. First time and a long time before we return. Lamb was overcooked. Waitress was excellent and brought another selected dish which was chicken. Very bland. Believe it was boiled before it was broiled.Overall meal was just so, so. Only highlight was the waitress who was pleasant and very accommodating. One last thing, we checked menue on the web and expected dishes we were interested in to find out that they were not served. Waitress told us she worked there for two years and have never seen some of the meals posted on the web! Perhaps someone should update their site. Atmosphere confusing not sure about the bistro motif. The restaurant smelled like a greasy spoon."

"We've been here on weekday nights and the food was better than our weekend experience.

I ordered the lamb and it was dry. The service was tardy, the restaurant was full. I also thought the menu was limited, not many choices, only one pasta dish and only one fish dish. The rest of the selections were beef, chicken, lamb and duck. My girlfriend had the duck and she said it was wonderful.

We will try them again but maybe not on a Saturday night.

The live music was nice because it was in the bar and we ate in the dining room, which allowed us to have a conversation and not feel as if the loudness was overpowering. While this comes off a bit negative, it's only because we had better experiences at this restaurant. It's quite good,"

"I have heard wonderful things about Chloe's from friends, and have been looking forward to trying this restaurant. I was not disappointed. The cozy bistro atmosphere is a great destination for a romantic evening or an evening with friends. Dishes were presented with a creative flair, and were delicious. I absolutely loved the presentation and subtle balsamic flavor of my mixed greens salad, and I am so glad I chose the sauted duckling over sweet potato puree. While I would love to try more of the dishes at this restaurant, it would be tempting to order the same dishes again the next time I visit Chloe's Bistro.
Our server was very helpful throughout the evening."

"New Year's Eve- so aren't we ALL a little stressed? Not our waitress- she couldn't have cared less- took Act of Congress for a visit to our 2 person table. We had flagged our reservation on OT for menu guidance due to food allergies/ problems (+my call, +2 reservation confirm calls by Chloe). We obviously were troubling her, while rest of staff was moving quickly, professionally and congenially.

The food, presentation, etc. was wonderful- very creative and really made the menu a "fascinating read". It will be the first of many visits to this restaurant, and can't wait to see what else they have up their sleeves. Hopefully can find better help or someone not devastated by her own bad night (noticed same with her other tables)."

"Many other reviewers commended on very poor service. We were in a hurry as we were headed off to a movie. We informed our waitress and she was sure to bring our food out promptly. We were in and out in 70 minutes. (Skipping desert due to time) Our waitress was attentive and friendly.
The selection of the food was a nice interesting mix. I could have selected from several of the items on them Menu easily. I ordered Steak Frites. The steak was slightly tough, but cooked perfectly and tasted very nice. (Nice au jus) The fries were also very good. My starter salad was also very good. My wife had the pork loin and that was also cooked perfectly. We will return and bring friends next time."

"My wife and I have eaten at Chloe's several times and have had a pleasant experience each time. The food is well prepared and presented beautifully. It is eveident that Matt, chef and owner, has succeeded in his intentions of running a classic bistro. "Chloe's is a surprise in old-fashioned downtown Hudson. The chef is inventive but primarily concerned with providing a delicious meal at a good value -- not eliciting a "wow! This looks great!" -- reaction that fades to disappointment after the first taste. He even makes chicken taste special. "My wife and two kids (2 years and 2 months) made 5:30 pm dinner reservations for New Years Eve. Since the restaurant opened at 5:30, it was empty when we arrived, but filled up by the time we finished dinner. The service was friendly and accommodating. The food (escargot, pumpkin bisque, pasta bolognese, steak (cooked perfectly medium rare), cranberry bread pudding and chocolate cake) were wonderful, without exception.

I highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic evening, family dinner or a few drinks at the bar."

"We had an enjoyable evening at Chloe's Bistro. There was a good atmosphere, bustling and lively, with a mixture of casual diners and those dressed up for a more formal night out. I selected the $30 mid-week special that included 3 courses, each with a glass of wine selected to complement the food course. It was quite good although I have had better meals there in the past when I selected from the regular menu. The service was (as usual) slow but we were not in a rush, I can see that this could be a problem for some diners though. Overall a good night."

"Excellent meal. I had the lamb shank and it was excellent. The service was excellent and it was nice to see the place full on a Friday evening. Four of us with appetizers, drinks, main courses and desert finshed for under $200 with tip, which we all thought was an excellent price for the quality of food. The wine list was adequate but not a strong point. All in all, we'll certainly return again."

"Great expectations, not realized. Our server was atrocious. It took 30 minutes to place an initial drink order, then another 30 minutes to place our food order. The restaurant was busy, but not enough to justify the delay. Our server was also not terribly helpful and seemed indignant when we asked simple questions like “what kind of pasta” came with the Pasta Bolognese. Her answer: Uh, I don’t know, it’s pasta. I asked for my steak to be prepared “black and blue,” or Pittsburgh-style. She noted this and after another 45 minute wait, I received a medium-to-medium-well sirloin – tough and not very appetizing. Good notes – my companion’s meatloaf was terrific and my steak came off the bill, fortunately, but I was supremely disappointed."

"Delicious food; served in reasonable time; half empty restaurant was not noisy -- party of four could hold quiet conversation; as the tables filled it became moderately noisy, but conversation still possible.
Menu was varied enough for all but diehard vegetarians. We four each chose something different! the vegetable accompaniments were excellent, as well. Good French cooking!"

"Our meal was pretty good however I felt it to be slightly overpriced for the quality and portions. I don't mind small portions with a sizable price tag so long as the food is absolutely amazing, however this was not. It was very good, but did not warrant the price, especially considering the very poor service. Our waitress was never visible in the dining area, to the point that we went without drinks for over 20 minutes at one point and sat with empty dinner dishes in front of us for the same amount of time. We were planning on doing coffee and dessert, however after the wait just to clear our table after dinner and replenish our drinks we decided against it as we were worried about having to potentially sit there for another hour waiting."

"I have never had a bad meal at Chloe's and was finally able to bring my parents here after trying for over a year to coordinate our schedules. "We love Chloe's Bistro - typically, this little restaurant has an excellent menu prepared artistically by an innovative chef. The service is predictably slow, occassionally bordering on rude, but the food, presentation, ambiance and little extras like a live Jazz trio make it well worth while. This particular time out was extremely disapointing because of a combination of service and mistakes with the special dish (wild mushroom Ravioli). The dish actually came out as pumpkin ravioli. I questioned the waitress 3 times about it possibly being a mistake before she was willing to check on it and then simply stated "the chef grabbed the wrong bag - sorry" with no further offer to get the correct food or address it in any other way..."

"Chloe is a gem! My dining experience was such a surprise and surpassed my expectations.
The setting in Hudson center added to my amazement. The area, although apparently safe, has been hit hard by the economy and this is evident by all the empty storefronts. Don't be put off my this! The restaurant has been there for 8 years and it a delight. Every bite of our dinner and dessert was filled with a wonderful combination of flavors. I can't say enough about Chloe. Give it a try; it is worth the drive."
