"We were a group of seven in the private dining area so noise was moderate. Food was excellent- well cooked, not an excessive list of ingredients or preciousness. Sensible portion sizes. Excellent service- just the right amount of solicitousness without being intrusive and very efficient. A great pre theater option"

"Market is located in the theatre district so it is a great restaurant to go to before theater. We've been there many times, but this time we were not pleased with our server! He did not have a good attitude, and he did not bring our second course on time. The tuna tartare is always delicious. The menu changes seasonally, and I always look forward to the Spring menu because the pea soup is outstanding! The best item on the menu is the shrimp salad! It has greens, avocado, little mushrooms, and a very tasty homemade dressing! They never take this item off the menu, and I highly recommend it! My husband had the pork entrée, and he was very pleased with it! My parents split a cheeseburger, and they liked it very much."

"Great spot for a bite before the theatre or ballet. Staff is attentive to timing needs before a show and the presentation is always lovely. There's a real emphasis on fresh ingredients, so you always know what season you're in, based on what's on the plate! Delish."

"Market by Jean Georges is a very good restaurant! It is located in a great spot and is a very good place to eat before theatre. Our food was delicious! Unfortunately, we did not like our waiter at all! He was not very friendly or sensitive to our needs, and despite the fact that we informed him that we were going to theater, we did not get our second courses in time and had to rush to eat them."

"I took my mother to Market for Mother's Day this past weekend and it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant is trendy and energetic with supurbe food that lived up to my expectations of Jean Georges' restaurants. For our meal we asked our server to pick a wine pairing which we were both very pleased with, complimenting both meal and our given price range. Given we had an early reservation we were given pleanty of attention, but even after Market got crowded and busy we were still attended to, and were never left wondering where our server had disapeared to. Both my mother and I had a wonderful experience and I hope to return in the future. The bar was not super busy while we were there, but the cocktails were artful and delicious."

"Brought my friend here for her first visit and she was wowed. Food was delicious (can't beat that pea soup), and I loved all the mini preserves and honey on the table, very cute. They seated us at a lovely corner, and we enjoyed a pleasant brunch without feeling rushed. Service was spot on, impeccable, honestly the best I've had in the city. All service staff we encountered asked us how we were and how was our meal and the way they spoke, I felt like they actually wanted to know and like they actually CARED. Prices are reasonable, same as any other nice restaurant in Boston, but the experience overall is so much more. Service is much much better, drinks are yum, food mouthwatering, and that's why I come back again and again!"

"This was my second visit to Market. They were very accommodating when we arrived very early for our reservation. The food was excellent. Twice the waiters brought the wrong thing (pea soup instead of beet salad, espresso instead of cappucino) but corrected it quickly. On my first visit it was quiet but this time it was so noisy it was hard to have a conversation."

"We had dinner at Market before a show at the Shubert Theater. The food was fabulous, the service was impeccable, and the overall experience was just perfect. The beet salad was wonderful but the salad with shrimp beat it hands down (no pun intended). My husband tried a specialty cocktail (with lychee) and it was amazing (but a little too sweet for me). Main courses were great and the side of sauteed spinach was extraordinary. The salted caramel sundae was a dessert worth the calories! We will definitely be back."

"The food was very nice, I thought my friend's dish was more inspired than mine but then, perhaps it's better to have options for both the adventurous and more traditional palettes. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, and noted that we were in the area for the opera, so made sure we had everything in plenty of time and were not rushed at all. "We had reservations for a party of 4 before the theater. Three of us got stuck in traffic for almost half an hour west of the city and were late - one was in the bar waiting.
Your hostess's were kind, sympathetic but advised they couldn't hold reservations as late as ours were - then they found us a fabulous table! Quiet, private and with instructions for what to order to make the theater on time!
My steak was to die for and so was the lobster.

"This is the third Jean Georges restaurant I have been to where the food has been good but not great. SO don't go expecting to be blwon away by the menu or the abilities of the kitchen. What this is good for is its see and be seen atmosphere.
The service staff wants to do well, but they are too busy to accomplish it. The somelier was excellent and had some nice choices on the wine list. Probably my favorite part of the evening."

"We had brunch here on Sunday and the food was good, but the service was spotty for the prices we were paying. Our server was skilled in up-selling menu items, but after we ordered, she barely came back to the table to check on us, and we waited an excessively long time after we were finished eating before she came to clear and ask whether we needed anything else. I was never even asked whether I wanted a refill on my coffee. The highlights of the meal were the crispy potatoes and the salmon tartare, which were both delicious. There were other people wearing jeans, so the dress code is very relaxed for brunch. The overall experience was meh."

"This is my third time to Market and each visit has been flawless. The entire staff is friendly and knowledgable. Menu is approachable - not stuffy or overwhelming. The freshness of the ingrediants really shines through. Timing of courses is handled correctly - you don't feel rushed. That being said if you are going to a show they make it work in timely fashion. If I am in the theatre district this is the place I go."

"We ate breakfast here all through the weekend of our son's wedding and it was great. Service and food were excellent and a wonderful ambiance for visiting with our guests. Staff moved tables around, accommodated us for whatever we needed."

"Market has been my go to restuarant in Boston for excellent well prepared innovative food. However, perhaps because it was Easter Monday ,his vist the kitchen was missing a step actually a few steps. Calamari was soggy - rice covered tuna appetizer tasted like it had refrigerated - short ribs were cloyingly sweet and overpowered by five spice. Molten choc cake was nothing exceptional and pretty similar to the one found at Trader Joes."

"Situated in the theatre district, Market is a perfect place for dining before or after the show. However, the food, service and ambience is so good that I find it has become my "go to" restaurant of choice. Service is casual, professional and knowledgable. Food preparations are always interesting and unfailingly delicious. The kitchen has a way with fish that's truly special. Try the salmon sashimi for starters - meltingly good."

"Based on open table reviews and menu, booked brunch on Easter Sunday for my son's birthday. Arrived and was greeted by a lovely hostess which was the only real positive experience of the day. BFood was not what we expected from a Jean George's experience, especially since we have dined at his other restaurants to be blown away buy the ambiance, service and fabulous food.

"We went during restaurant week. Jean-Georges is in a great location. Great ambiance, modern, minimalist decor. The choice for each of the courses was terrific and the food was delicious. The crab cake was particularly tasty. We will definitely go back soon."

"We had to wait in bar area longer than I would have liked. The seating there was strange. The three of us could not sit and talk comfortably while seated on the oversized lounge chairs. It was very noisy. Flowers were beautiful."

"Excellent food. But The service was so slow and just plain bad. Took 15 minutes just to get the waiter to take our order (yet for some bizarre reason, we had 3 different people refill our water glass, not 1 offering to get us a cocktail ??)). Manager stepped in to assist, which we appreciated. But watching the wait staff was painful-waiter never greeted us formally to the restaurant, didn't ask if we had questions about the menu, barely spoke. Bartender dropped champagne glasses, which nearly hit a table with 2 young children. And once we got our meal, water was not refilled automatically like before. One and done place for us."

"The food was OK.....I was so looking forward to eating there. I work in Boston and dont come back to have dinner very often.I was dissapointed in the salmon, no flavor. The peekytoe crab app. was good, the portions were small. I dont mind small portions if the food is rich, or full of flavors. none of that going on....my husband was dissapointed in his meal also.He had the ribs..
I had to change my dinner reservation time and talked to Mia the hostess, she was so sweet! very accomadating! The service was awsome! Thank you for that! But unfortunately, we will not be back....."

"Tried Market for the first time for dinner during Restaurant Week 2013. Appetizer was a crabcake - this was fresh and delicious. Entree was a braised shortrib, which was surprisingly salty and barely edible. Dessert - a salted caramel sundae. Not incredibly inspired, but tasted good. My friend had the coconut panna cotta which came with little bubbles of balsamic vinegar. That was fun to eat.
Portions were small. Place gets loud and energetic. Service is frequent, but not overbearing. Overall, I thought the food could've used a little more oomph."
