Larkin’s on the River is an award-winning restaurant serving premium cut steaks, fresh seafood, and fine wines. Every menu item is created with the freshest ingredients and served with a creative flair.
Larkin’s on the River at the Peace Center for the performing arts, is situated in the heart of downtown Greenville, along the banks of the Reedy River, in the old Gower Coach Factory. This is the only building remaining of the original eleven dating back to Civil War. With beautiful preserved exposed brick walls and open ceilings, the history of the building serves as the perfect backdrop to the modern and hip atmosphere Larkin’s on the River offers.

"I took my wife to Larkin's to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary. The service was excellent and the small touch that the kitchen did for our dessert by writing "Happy 17th Anniversary" in chocolate on the plate was an unexpected and very nice touch to an incredible meal."

"Larkins is one of our favorite restaurants and we always have been very pleased. On this occasion we were seated side by side in a banquette, and Michelle leaned in and spoke clearly, which accommodated our hearing loss. Also, Michelle was mindful of our timing for the Peace Center performance and our need to adjust portion sizes. The salad was special, and the chef made just the right difference between our request for rare and medium rare. We always order the side of creamed spinach---the best in Greenville!"

"We had a great time here the restaurant personnel were very accommodating.We were traveling some distance to get there and were running late they were able to reschedule our reservation without a hassle. We were not rushed to complete our meal and sat an relaxed the whole time even though it was a popular day to take the family out for brunch."

"Great evening with fantastic food. We had some problems with service (over an hour wait, food had cold), but everything was fixed to our satisfaction. In all fairness, it did not seem to happen to anyone but us and was fixed so well that you wouldn't have even known there was a problem. Would go back again in a minute."

"We decided to drive down from Asheville for the Fine Arts Festival downtown and looked online for a restaurant with an attractive setting, diverse menu and close to the Peace Center. The photos and menu from Larkin's on the River fortunately caught our attention. What a terrific place. Having a reservation was helpful, due to the traffic from the festival. The service by our waiter Bill was attentive and friendly. The food was exceptional. The chef's speciality of she crab soup was melt in your mouth, and chocked full of crab. The peppered and seared salmon was perfectly prepared and could not have been better. The ambiance is upscale and comfortable. It will be hard for us to get back to Greenville without returning to Larkin's."

"We have eaten at all of the recommended restaurants in Greenville and this would be our lowest rated. The food was not good in all cases for the price it was listed at. Creamy risotto was not creamy, Osso Bucco was chewy not tender. Scalloped potatoes looked like a piece of cake and very dry. Bread seemed to be a day old or from freezer. Rack of Lamb consisted of 3-riblets (but flavorable). Add in a domestic beer and glass of wine for $101.01-you've got to be from another planet."

"My wife and I went here for her birthday celebration. The ambiance was great and the noise level was reasonable. We selected the Caesar salad and it was the best we've ever eaten. You must try this dish if you have two or more people. As a main course, we selected the Ahi tuna and Sea Bass. Both were excellent. The fish was fresh and not overcooked. The portions were generous. Unfortunately, we did not leave room for any of their desserts - an oversight we will correct on our next visit."

"This was our first trip to Greenville. The downtown is just beautiful & Larkins was the perfect spot for Sunday Brunch with our 2 grandchildren 7 & 4. The food was delicious & we thought the Bloody Mary menu very unique. However I had noted on our Open Table reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, it was never mentioned or acknowledged which was disappointing. Not sure if they do not read the notes or did not get it. Otherwise a great experience & would definitely go back."

"My friends from Beverly Hills Ca. thought it was a great restaurant and were impressed by not only the wine list but the value. The found a wine they served at their wedding that compared to California restaurant prices they thought was a great value. And a great wine too.
I've never had a bad experience at Larkins, that's why it's a favorite dining experience each and every time"

"Overpriced for the quality of food. Both my guest and I were less than impressed with the preparation. When you are a good chef yourself, we understand our expectations are higher, but this was disappointing from a food standpoint. The manager did visit our table and comp our drinks b/c he could tell we were dissatisfied, and we appreciated that very much. We did enjoy our house salad which made us very excited for our entree and dessert. Sadly neither the chicken or filet compared to the salad, which is odd for a high-end steakhouse. We were well cared for there, but b/c of the uninteresting and pricey food for what it is, we will likely never return."

"Went out with my girlfriend, all in all we had a good time. However I feel like it was to crowed we were placed in the middle of the restaurant with other guest all around us, it felt to crowed, so they could easily removed some of the tables, also only light we had was a candle witch made it hard to read the menu.
The food was pretty good, not amazing but good,and the steak filet I ordered had way to much pepper.
To me the environment is important and I was not that satisfied with this one. I did not feel like I was at a special place and I think they pay to much for what you get out of it. I don't mind paying more for a good restaurant, but this was way to crowded and to much noise."

"So, I decided to take my girlfriend out for our 2nd anniversary. I picked Larkins at random, and it was the right place! Our bill ran up to the price of a night at a decent hotel, but the food and the environment was more than I could have expected. We went all-out and ordered bacon wrapped scallops, she-crab soup (which rivals the best in the lowcountry), filet minion, Atlantic salmon, and chocolate torte. The food was the best you can find, and the service was polite, considerate, and also down-to-earth in a way that many high class restaurants lack. In other words, it was fancy and comfortable in all the right ways. If you don't care about price and want a memorable night, chose Larkin's."

"Genuine friendliness of the staff lead to a warm greeting and swift seating as we were whisked to our booth.
We were made comfortable with a practiced elegance born of professionalism and tender care and were introduced to our server, Mark.
Mark turned out to be a master of his craft as he seemed to anticipate every nuance of our needs. From coming to us with a beaming smile as he entertained with wit and knowledge as he served, or flying through his practiced motions in silence so as to give us that "just right" amount of privacy.
And then there was the food. Highest quality met artisan's touch as the taste, texture and even placement of the food made for extraordinary dining.
In a word: beautiful."

"Two of my girlfriends and I had a wonderful "catch up with each other's lives" dinner at Larkins. The food and drinks were amazing. We especially enjoyed the Caesar salad prepared table side. We dined at sunset and the view out the windows was beautiful, but somewhat spoiled by their dirtiness. Maybe you should clean them? Thanks for a delicious meal: I never knew what succulent steaks you have!"

"After trying to push back our reservation at another restaurant and being told we couldn't since their kitchen closed at 9:00, we ended up at Larkins on the River. The manager welcomed us upon our arrival. When we informed him we were waiting on others who were traveling, he made us feel comfortable and unhurried. After the rest of our party arrived, the manager and our server continued to deliver excellent service, as well as delicious food (the filet au poivre is to die for!), despite the fact that we kept them there past their closing time. They were completely gracious and willing to accommodate."

"Perhaps it was because it was St. Patrick's Day and they were not expecting to be busy on a Sunday but the staff seemed quite overwhelmed. Getting the water glasses refilled was a challenge. Certainly not the service one would expect for the price. The food was fine but even the simple dishes - tomato salad - was overgarnished. Simplify!"

"It's a very loud, hip energetic scene with great food. That said, the front of the house has little regard for reservations. We waited 45 minutes past our reserved time for our table. Fortunately, we were able to snag a barstool; only wish they had a better wine-by-the-glass selection. Some folks were standing in the crowded bar area for close to an hour. But once we sat down and the fantastic food started coming we were happy."

"The food was good, but extremely expensive for my budget. I had a salad and a shrimp dish. The salad was not tasty with bland tomatoes, tasteless mozarella cheese, and rather limp basil. The shrimp dish was good, but not worth the price. Greenville has many great restaurants, and the cost of this one combined with the good, but not great, food, will not justify returning any time soon."
