"Its a challenging meal service for most restaurants, but we had an excellent meal. The restaurant was super busy, as you would expect. We were seated on time and the service was fast and courteous. There were three of us and one item came out cold and was immediately corrected. We had the Eggs Pontchartrain (probably the biggest "wow", biscuits & gravy, omelette, and home fries and all were very good. Loved the Cucumber Fizz! Would recommend."

"We went for mothers day with a reservation. The food was absolutely fabulous. We tried the cabin eggs benediction and brioche French Toast. The actual food service was impeccable, how this restaurant is in a neighborhood that isn't anywhere near a Metro Station and taxis don't service. We had the restaurant call repeatedly and FINALLY after a 45 minute wait outside (the day was beautiful) we flagged down an off duty taxi who took pity on us. So this marred an otherwise perfect experience for us. If you're an out of town visitor, think twice about the brunch. It's a shame, but will affect your visit."

"You can't go wrong with any of the fresh fish selections! Be sure to select a tasty appetizer as well. My table feasted on the Belgian style mussels. Save room for dessert. As a Southerner, I am picky about key lime pie, but Black Salt's version is heavenly."

"As someone who eats @ Blacksalt on average 1-2x a month, I have yet to have a bad meal, a bad experience or a bad time. Now, that might not seem like an outstanding recommendation, but when you run the #s, it is.
EVERY meal I've had has been very good, to great. The staff take great care of me, whether I'm there on my own, or with a group. I've taken a number of 1st dates there, and it's great for that. It's also great for one year anniversary dates as well!
Hard to go wrong w/anything on the menu, and while I LOVE wine, and enjoy perusing the list, I'll oft times just ask the sommelier to pick for me. And he's always spot.
Go. It's great. Really."

"I had to come back to get dessert because on my last visit I was too full. It was worth it. This time I ordered smaller dishes so I would have room for dessert. "This was our second time at Black Salt. The first time was for brunch. My husband and I went to dinner on April 25, 2013 for a Food & Friends event where the restaurant donates a percentage of your meal to the non-profit. We also donated separately that evening. We appreciate that the restaurant participated in the fundraising event. The wine selection is excellent. Our flounder was very fresh but dripping in butter but it overwhelmed the delicate fish flavor. Service was spotty. When our waiter was there, it was fine but he didn't return too often so overall we gave the service a fair rating. The bill was very high for 3 courses, two glass of wine and one beer. We probably won't return."

"My wife found this resturant searching for someplace different to eat on our weekend getaway to the National Harbor. After reading all the rave reviews we decided to give it a try. One of the best places I have dined in the world, bar none. Loved it, loved the food, loved the service. We were running late due to traffic and not being familiar with the city. I called the restaurant and they graciously held our table until we arrived--30 minutes late. So glad they did as we would have missed a fantastic experience. Amazing restaurant!"

That oyster was beyond its shelf life, and that should never happen in a place that features oysters. "The food is very good, and beautifully presented. The service is attentive, although they did manage to mess up my order. They were quick to fix it, however. I find the chairs to be uncomfortable. "I loved everything about this place. There's an upscale fish counter in front; the restaurant is farther back. The physical space is arranged well and the seating is comfortable. Kudos to the management and staff - every single person who approached us focused on us and was welcoming. The brunch dishes were original without being weird and were very fresh and very good. Parking was not difficult. I can go years in between such experiences. We'll be back."

"For a Sunday lunch, the hamburger was excellent and the crabcake was mostly gummy filler, a trio of creme brulees was quite good. Service was also pretty good if slightly inattentive at times but to be fair this is a very popular brunch destination and the restaurant was full. Despite being full the place was not as noisy as one might expect."

"Excellent. We did the 5-course chef's tasting menu and everything was outstanding. It was my birthday and BlackSalt is perfect for a low-key, special occasion. We sat in the back room and it was definitely more quiet than the main room. I like both dining rooms but they are very different."

"We had the Chef's tasting with wine pairing for a birthday dinner. We've had some good meals in our time (including Italy, France) but the meal we had at Black Salt was OFF THE CHARTS possibly the best meal we have had in our lifetime (and our bday boy was 59!). Top to bottom excellent: from accomodating food allergies/preferences, to the superb dishes and perfectly selected wines, to great service. Each course (5!) was more exquisite than the one before it, culminating in off-the-charts deserts (3!). We were left speechless. The only downside was that the backroom got extremely loud when full - but after some tables left things quieted down - since we were there for 4 hours! The meal cost was off the charts as well but worth every penny."

"The food was great. My only complaint was that my swordfish was too small. The portion should have been bigger. I have been to many less expensive restaurants whose swordfish was almost as tasty as here, but 1.5X lager. Other than that, it was a very nice dinner."

"I recently hosted a friend's birthday dinner at BlackSalt, and they went above and beyond any expectations. All I did was note in my OpenTable reservation that it was for my friend's birthday, and they gave us the best table in the house, printed special menus with my friend's name on it, and were extremely attentive. The food was unbelievable. If you can, I highly recommend going with the "chef's choice" preparation - a surprise that never disappoints. I could not have asked for a better experience."

"We came to celebrate our anniversary. We were given complimentary wine and oysters which was a lovely surprise. We had the 7 course tasting menu. Everything was impecable. From the hostess, to the waiter to the food. Great food selection, tasty dessert. Definitely will come back!"

"I was visiting the DC area and thought I was going into town when I saw all these great reviews. I was shocked to find it was in a residential neighborhood but still great none-the-less.
