Michelin recommended. A California based Organic restaurant company, we offer all healthy dishes, fresh juices, salads, sandwiches, soups, entrees & desserts as well as Sustainable seafood and 100% organic poultry.
Extensive lunch and brunch menu with a distinct full dinner menu seven days a week.
We follow a farm-to-table philosophy relying on quality local produce. In many cases, food has been grown only a day or two before it is served to our guests. If it is not available locally, we search the globe in our quest for the best organic, natural or artisan quality ingredients as reflected in our coffees, teas, and spirits.
We host a full bar with organic cocktails and local, sustainable wines. We pride ourselves in offering food for all including sustainable seafood, local organic poultry, specialty pizza and delicious vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices.

"The ambiance in this restaurant is outstanding. The food, however, needs a bit of help. I went there for brunch, two out of the three of us ordered eggs benedict, which came with potatoes. The eggs came with zero hollindaise sauce, which we realized only towards the end of the meal when I asked the server to bring additional sauce. We realized that there was no sauce originally. The manager was very nice, however, and comped both portions of eggs. The potatoes were also not very good. Too dry and didn't seem freshly made."

"We came here right at 10 for a brunch. Service, food, and ambiance were all good and we had a nice time. Each main plate came with a small bowl of cut fruit. The bowls were already very small but they still skimped on the fruit. It almost appeared like a mistake, or leftover after a meal! For a place of this quality (with organic theme) I would have expected more, but instead they cheapened their presentation by trying to save money on fruit salad. I rather they offered it for extra on the side, vs. this. We enjoyed ourselves but there are plenty of other great brunch places in SF!"

"I love Plant for its varied men and an atmosphere that manages to be lively while keeping the noise level low enough for civilized conversation. A big plus is the chance to enjoy a stunning Bay view from the terrace in all weather, thanks to the sheltering see-through plastic curtains that magically appear when the wind comes up or the fog rolls in.
Be sure to try one of the excellent fruit shakes."

"Plant is a delightful venue, set right on the Bay, with seating both overlooking the water and on the Embarcadero. The food is good, but not great. While all items are organiic, it is not vegan, nor is it very high end cuisine. In fact, other than organic ingredients, the menu is fairly run of the mill, with a lot of salads, pizza and burgers, as well as fresh squeezed juices and smoothies.
We had a Sunday brunch, including a nice Huevos Rancheros, and their famous lentil based hamburger. The huevos were decent. The lentil burger is OK, but not extraordinary. The view to the Bay can be lovely, especially on a nice day. And, the location is lovely.
Good if you are in the area and want something which is largely guilt free."

"One of my faves in the city. Oysters are always fresh and delicious but they always forget to bring oyster fork. Get a bottle of Cava and enjoy. Beet salad is a must as is avocado and grapefruit salad. Fresh and organic ingredients. If you like burgers and want to stay from red meat this is the place. Halibut and Salmon are always fresh. The best raw cheesecake in the city. So good that we took one home with us on Saturday night and had it with Chocolate Port. Hopefully you can say hello to the Chef. He is a genius. Phillip is wonderful at the bar. and makes some amazing cocktails. Wait staff very attentive and on top of it. Go, sit outside and take your time. Enjoy the water and the beautiful view. Can't wait to return."

"The staff was very accommodating to my changing party number and allowed us to serve our own birthday cake at the table. Everyone that ordered the "Plant Burger" loved it. Those who ordered the wasabi version said they couldn't taste the wasabi. A friend ordered the ravioli with peas and was disappointed because the amount of food was small. The atmosphere was fantastic, especially the view of the bay. I would dine here again.

"I gave an overall rating of fair for several reasons - mostly related to service. Food was excellent - quinoa veggy bowl (delicious and light), mushroom pizza (great melted cheese and crispy crust), gnocchi appetizer (a little rich, but good). Service was a bit off compared with other times we've been there. First, we were told they had run out of buns for burgers. When we asked for a teaspoon for soup, were told only large spoons available. When we asked for extra plates, were told no small plates were available, so we suggested large plates, which the waitress thought was a brilliant suggestion (?). We had to go up to hostess to pay because of inattention. I dont know, maybe too harsh - they just seemed a bit dim and inattentive."

"I had been here for lunch and it was fine. For dinner, not so much. Our reservation was for 8pm but we didn't start eating until 9pm. It was packed and the food was just mediocre, overpriced. The service was incredibly slow and the aisles were narrow so it was difficult to walk around. At one point a server was serving the table next to us and his plate of food hit my head - no apologizes from the staff."

"My husband is a vegan, and there were plenty of options for him. We had the chef's palette/appetizer, a bbq template entree, and a green pea ravioli entree with mushroom/cream sauce. I found my green pea ravioli entree to be quite good, albeit a small portion for the price. The chef's palette plate we found more experimental than successful in regards to the flavors. My husband found the bbq tempeh undercooked and didn't agree with the choice of the grapefruit salad as a complement to the dish overall. The service was good . If we were to return, we would try the veggie burgers. But, we can't say that we would recommend the restaurant to others, because we found too many of the dishes to be lackluster."

"Went to see Bay Lights,requested a table with a view, when arriving I got seated right away (had a reservation) the table view had a huge boat and a small bridge view.We ordered an appetizer and 2 entres with drinks. The main course came out BEFORE our appetizer then when our waiter realized it he said it would be out shortly 10min later still not out and the waiter told us the chef just disappeared.UMMM really!!. We had him just take it off the bill. Then the main course was horrific!! We ate half of one dish and only two bites of the other. We asked for our check then we had to ask for the 2nd dish to be taken off since we didnt eat it! DONT go here its awful service and food!!"

"Good, tasty food. Friendly service. Great location on the waterfront, bridge lights reflecting on the water of the Bay. You don't have to worry about DUI if you get carried away with the wine (5 min walk from the Embarcadero BART station). I was able to compose my own desert that wasn't on the menu (though the ingredients were). Outdoor seating that's actually not chilly."

"I love the location of this place. I always sit in the outdoor area and take in the bay view! However, the salmon salad I had was just average and there were hardly any green on the plate. I started with a cup of soup which came to the table warm, not hot and was lackluster in flavor. Not the best experience I have had here so I will give it another try!"

"This was my second time to the Plant Cafe and it won't be my last. The food is so fresh and flavorful with lots of vegetarian options. The only thing I did not care for was the Plant Burger... It was tasty but they made it to look like real raw beef... a little too funky for liking. Other than that, try the flatbread pizza and a fresh kale salad."

"Brought an out-of-town guest here and had requested a table with a view, which was not accommodated or even mentioned when we checked in. Starving, we were disappointed that we had to wait 20 minutes beyond our reservation time. After 15 minutes of waiting, we were finally offered a drink list. After being seated, our drinks finally arrived after our appetizers.
Regarding food, their Plant Burger is exceptional, as well as the Avocado and Grapefruit Salad. The Margarita pizza, while a little salty, had a magnificent crust that also held up the next day when we ate the leftovers.
I would definitely stop by here for lunch again, but not sure about keeping it on a dinner rotation after the slow execution."

"The food is delicious and the view is gorgeous. The staff are all very friendly. The only problem is that the service is slow, which has been my experience both times I've been there for lunch in the last month. This last time we had to cancel our dessert order as it hadn't arrived after 25 minutes, and we had to leave. My friend switched her coffee to go, which the waiter bought for her as an apology for our dessert not arriving. I definitely recommend The Plant; I just wouldn't try to have a quick lunch; better to go when you can plan to have a longer, more relaxing lunch."

"I was very happy with The Plant. We were seated per our request with a view of the Bay Bridge to see the Bridge Lights and even given the option of two different tables. We took a later reservation to be able to see the lights, but never felt rushed or told the kitchen was closing. Often being Gluten Free results in very few options on the menu, but that was not the case at The Plant. There were many great options and they were all really yummy. We did have a bit of challenge over availability of some of the food, with three times asking about certain menu items and being told they were out. Over all it was a wonderful dining experience without the normally really high expense of an all organic waterfront meal."

"Precious, arrogant waiter messed up my daughter's order to hold the garlic cream on her pizza. Instead of saying "oh, I'm sorry let me fix that right away or can I get you something else" he said " well I told them. They just didn't do it." What? When I asked what she could order that would come quickly so that she could eat with the rest if us his reply "well the kitchen is busy. Nothing is quick." Later he stopped by the table and asked if we wanted the untouched pizza boxed at which point I said "no. I want it off the bill."Unhelpful. Arrogant. Obnoxious. Over all, the good was good ( and pricey) but who enjoys being treated like a huge inconvenience by the server?Many Better places to eat in SF with fun, helpful, service."
