Although many restaurants in the theater district bill themselves as trattorias, few achieve the authentic feel and taste of Maria Pia. This charming Italian eatery boasts comfortable indoor seating for 80, a sun-dappled, 20-seat, rear outdoor garden, and a genial mood that makes the menu that much more savory. The three-course prix fixe menus offer dishes slick enough for savvy palates that still taste as if they were cooked up by mama Maria herself.

"Service was okay we bought a bottle of wine and had to serve it to ourselves throughout the meal. The server was nice but after meal was ordered she did not serve our wine. service was fast but lacked a little class. A disappointment for me since I used to love to dine here quite frequently and have brought a lot of my friends here."

"My husband and I were in the city seeing Jersey Boys and I found on line Maria Pia restaurant. We looked at the menu on line and liked what we saw so I booked reservations. We were very very pleased with everything at the Maria Pia. The food was outstanding. My husband had grilled shrimp with scallops inside and was very pleased he still talked about it coming home. I had the homemade ravoili's with spinach absolutley delish. There was nothing to dislike. We will be back. Price wise reasonable even with a bottle of wine."

"This has been one of my favorite restaurants since the day they opened, 9/10/2001. The food is always reliably good, the waiters are very polite. It can be crowded at theatre time, but it has been a gem for lunchtime. In the summer, it is often delightful to dine outside. My guests and friends are always happy to go back to Maria Pia."

"The food at Maria Pia is very good and the reason why I selected the restaurant along with the convenient theater district location, but for the price of the food, the portions are not very generous. I understand that it is not a family style restaurant, but one does not leave most good Italian restaurants feeling not quite full. "We recently had lunch at Maria Pia prior to a matinee on Broadway. The restaurant was empty at 12 pm and thus the service was very good. We ordered from the lunch special which provided a good size and delicious lentil soup, an entree and small dessert, no coffee included. I had a tasty salmon with root vegetables which I enjoyed. My hubby had a chicken dish which he said was just okay. The hazelnut gelato was a small scoop of good quality ice cream. Enjoyed the meal and the place was quiet and cozy. Very good value for the price which was under $20 each."
