"Buca has the best Italian food of any of the major restaurants. The helping sizes are huge, the food simply tastes great! Start your meal with the mixed salad that has the walnuts, green apples, craisans, and gorgonzola cheese, it is absolutely a great way to wake up the taste buds. We had the Saltimbuco for our entree with the fettucini alfredo, best I've ever had!"

"The portions are huge but the food was not good. I would prefer to have smaller portions but higher quality food! The restaurant was VERY noisy. People basically had to scream to hear each other. There were kids at a big table next door who were doing hand stands on the seats!! And then the decor!!!??? Some really not kid appropriate. Less sometimes is more. There is no need to cover every inch of the wall with some kids of weird photo or art work."

"This is my second visit to Buca di Beppo. My first experience was the new one is White Marsh and the second one was in Washington, DC and I have to say everything was exactly the same. The food was great, the service was exceptional and everything about your restaurante is great! Our waiter was very attentive, professional and funny all at the same time. He was great and you should be very proud of him as he represented your restaurant very well. Keep up the great work and good food and don't change anything I loved my experience and so did my team and we are still talking about it today."

"Beware - they make a 100% ID check and withheld serving wine to 50+ year old who didn't have ID with them (vacationing from out-of-town, passport in hotel safe). Was embarrassing and restaurant manager intervened. DC law only requires reasonable effort by the establishment to establish age, and does not require proofing the obvious. However if asked, the patron must submit ID by law. Poor choice by this establishment to proof a 50+ aged person. Fortunately the food was good."

"Eight of us went to Buca Di Beppo for dinner after four ran in a half marathon in the morning. No one wanted to deal with a complicate foodie meal (even though we all are foodies). We talked loud and had some great pasta served family style. We share an apple and lettuce salad, and a large order of bruchetta to start. My wife and I had chicken canneloni and while it tasted of chicken, the pieces were few. I tasted the eggplant parmagiana and it was delicious.
Bottom line: It's not fancy, but its good. Valet parking is $7, but this neighborhood doesn't have much parking so we took it."

"DON'T go here during busy dinner times--it's a chaotic mess. Tour buses often drop off here, so BdB is often dealing with parties of 60-100. It's loud and you're pretty subject to whatever the weather is outside--the place is really drafty. However, the portions are huge -- it's totally middle-of-the-road (being GENEROUS), family-style Italian. Our waiter was under a TON of pressure and was still very genial and moderately attentive.
Re: decor -- it's a mess. Don't go for the ambiance -- you won't find any."

"The food was good, though I doubt the pasta was house made. But you can not dine at a high volume restaurant and expect house made pasta. The wine list was average. I asked our server for a light to med bodied wine with good fruit notes but she didn't have proper knowledge. All 4 of our guests were enjoying alcoholic beverages and we had to ask for water twice. Then when our second course came we placed our silverware on our app plates and requested new but we were advised to keep our untencils. Finally we relieved the bill that already had an 18 percent gratuity(tip) we were a party of five so I asked management what the policy was and they explained it was parties of seven or more and offered to refund that charge. We had 5 people."

"Went on a Saturday, there were way too many people there for my taste. There must have been a convention in town or something. Considering there was a packed house, our service was great and our food enjoyable."

"If you choose to accept large party’s and bus traffic with over 200 student please DON’T make it the problem for your regular guest. I waited 30min with a resv. And service was poor. We were told to go to bar area which was pack cause of back up. And then harassed by all servers trying to get by to clean room from bus traffic"

"This is a very festive place to celebrate a birthday or another special occasion with a big family or group. The food is certainly not fancy Italian, but the flavors are good. The service was a little uneven. Our waiter was pleasant, but didn't seem well-trained. When we asked for our spaghetti to be served al dente, he didn't seem to know what we were talking about. I know this isn't Rome, but you'd think wait staff in an Italian restaurant would know the meaning of al dente. And, even though he said he would "hook us up" on the al dente thing, the spaghetti didn't come out al dente. Also, he spilled the broth from a bowl of mussels all over three coats sitting on an extra chair, and didn't offer to help with the cleaning bill."

"There were six of us in our party. We were lucky enough to have had our request accepted and we were seated at the kitchen table. From the beginning of our arrival through our departure we were treated like both royalty and family. The chef came to our table several times to discuss the food with us and to make sure we were happy. Numerous servers stopped by our table to talk and see if we needed anything. We had two appetizers and three main dishes, each one of them absolutely delicious. Our water glasses were always filled, our drinks were always refilled or new ones ordered. It was a thoroughly enjoyable, outstanding experience. It was one of the best dinner experiences we have EVER had!"

"It is not good for Special Occasions "Birthdays" ! We were celebrating 2 birthdays in the group and they didn't have any type of celebration desert or tradition. The waiter did say we could buy a desert and he could have a few of the waiter come over and sing? What!
We didn't want to buy a large desert after having a very large meal and the birthday's were for 2 small kids, they were sad :("

"The staff was very attentive. It was my daughter's 16th birthday and we requested the kitchen table. They called me to confirm all the details. They made a big deal out of her birthday and she felt like a princess. The food was very generous and we all had a wonderful time. When we left we forgot her birthday cards she opened at the table. They called us before we even realized we left them and they were waiting for us the next morning (some of them had gift cards in them and they were still in there). I can't say enough good things about this restaurant and it's staff."

"Let me start out by saying, I've been to Buca before and I love love love the decor. it's just adorable and unique. I also enjoy the family style eating. Now onto the experience we had. I went there with my family. We were a group of 6, 4 adults and 2 children. We were given a spacious booth and all was well until numerous twenty- somethings started filtering in to the room. It didn't take long to realize (and our server confirmed) we were the lone table in that section that was not part of a 30 person party celebrating someone's birthday. The noise level was ridiculous, honestly couldn't hear half the people at my own table. On top of that our server was new, like first day new, and he was serving us as well as half the large party sitting"
