"I was in Calgary on a business trip from Chicago. Having been in Ric's a couple of years ago, I took customers there for dinner expecting a great meal in a nice atmosphere. This time, the food was decent, but not remarkable. The service was not up to par at all... we were surrounded by a sea of unbussed tables as other parties finished their meals and departed. Unappetizing. I left unimpressed, and wouldn't return."

"We're new to Calgary(less than two yrs), so we didn't know anything about what's good or not. I just took a shot in the dark with Ric's Grill.
The atmosphere is nice, service was great, and the food was excellent. All of that and the prices are reasonable too. We went for our anniversary, and we would go back again for any occasion, or a regular night out."

"Although the food and service were passable, I think the prices are way too high for the average level of this restaurant. We ate very early 5:45 , as we were going to a concert and after the waitress took our order, she came back to tell us that they were out of the baseball cut steak. This was very surprising since we were practically the first ones there for dinner and also, we felt that the waitress should have been informed of this fact before she took our order."

"My husband and I decided on Ric’s as our date night place to go. The Big Taste menu was a plus for us. I made reservations through open table for 6:30 on a Saturday night. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and the manager said follow me and off we went in to the lounge. Now don’t get me wrong the lounge was alright but we didn’t make a reservation for a date night to spend $130.00 to sit in a lounge and have a bunch of TV’s playing hockey. It was loud and I was quite surprised that the manager never even checked with us to see if this was acceptable. We both would have been willing to wait for a table in the dining room but weren’t given this choice. The waitress was excellent as was the food. As appetizers we had the Coconut"

"We were there to order from the Big Taste menu and were seated at a strange triangle table. It was a fairly private area, but the tables made it awkward when each course came as we had to "tetris" the plates to make them all fit.
I have been to Ric's for previous Big Taste/Dine Out Week events and while it was still enjoyable, it was by far the least impressive experience."

"My fiance and I went to Ric's grill for the first time for my birthday this year. We ordered off the big taste menu and it was amazing food at such a great price. On Monday night's you can also add a lobster tail to any meal for $5 which is awesome. I definately will be coming back to Ric's for sure. I highly recommend this restaurant the food is awesome!"

"Way overpriced for the taste and quality of the meal. Over $260 for 5 with 2 glasses of wine only and 2 bar drinks. This place is as expensive as high end restaurants in Calgay but delivers Earl's quality. I had the seafood mixed grill and it was plain and unappealing. Service was friendly.

But even if the look of the place isn't the best, the most important is not how they serve but what they serve. That's were the went really wrong. If I compare a similar meal, the Keg is a lot better. The steak and lobster wasn't as good at all. A small square steak cooked to perfection, but completely tasteless. The lobster tail was so slim, dry and looked more like a shrimp. The baked potato was the largest thing on the plate, really dry. I still don't understand how it could be so bad, or maybe it was just their way to take 200 bucks from me... I will NEVER go back, there are plenty of other places in Calgary that are a lot better and even for less $."

"The service and ambiance was good. The food itself was sub-par, especially disappointing when it was a fixed menu. Appies started ok. Main was mediocre. Dessert tasted like it had been prepared long in advance (mass produced) and had been sitting in the kitchen for a while. Wasn't worth the money they were charging that night."

"Valentines Day was our first dining experience at Ric's. They had a special menu for the occasion so ordered the surf 'n turf for 2 and it was amazing! I love love love seafood and they cooked it all perfectly with really flavorful spices. The steak was cooked just the way I liked it. The chocolate mousse for dessert was decadent! The waitress was knowledgable and had a personality. The mood was romantic. We will be going back again for sure!!"

"We came here for a birthday dinner. It was mine and my husband's birthday (we are born on the same day) so it was just the two of us. The restuarant didn't seem busy but we noticed that our server had almost half the restaurant as her entire section. We didn't see much of her and drinks took longer than usual to come out. The food was awesome. We had steak and added the $5 lobster tail because we were there on a Monday. Overall it was great, however it would've been nice to see someone helping out our server."
