"We were a little disappointed with the overall dining experience at the Chop House. We each ordered one of the May special three course steak dinners. The steaks were cooked as requested, but were not as tender as flavorful as expected. The sautéed spinach was mediocre at best. The dinner salad was acceptable as was the mousse torte. Unfortunately, there are several other steakhouses in the area we would choose first."

"I invited a friend to join me for our initial dining out at the Chop House in Palm Desert. He is a world traveler and connoisseur of fine food. Having dined in the Coachella Valley with me previously without too much enthusiasm, he was totally impressed with his meal and the service as was I. I ordered the pork chop and he ordered the rib eye steak. Both were prepared exactly to our specifications and were absolutely perfect in every way.
Not only did we have an excellent experience, I was very happy that my friend enjoyed the dinner as much as I did. This was a first for us here in the desert and I thank the Chop House for being the perfect host!"

"My husband and I were in the mood for a steak. We chose the Chop House because it serves grass fed, no hormones, etc. The surprise was the exact steak was on special with salad, side, and desert. Lots of choices and all delicious. Oh yes, it's our new go to place."

"We won't be back again. We can prepare better steaks on our grill at home, done the way we like them. My husband ordered the special done medium rare, to the rare side. It came medium, with a warm pink center. The server brought another one. This time it was very rare, cold center. They just couldn't get it right. And this is a steak house? When we asked the server to give us separate checks, he put drinks on ours which were from our friends with us. Again, they just couldn't get it right. We won't be back again. And everything was very dark. Not nice and bright and California-like."

"We had frequented this restaurant a long time ago and quit going but decided to go back and try it again. I'm so glad we did! We had a great experience. The steak was cooked to perfection and so tender you could cut it with a fork. There was a price fixe menu and for 29 -49 dollars you could get an 3 course meal....salad, entree, side and dessert. Everything was fresh and tasted as good as it looked. Would definitely go back again."

"We have visited this restaurant numerous times over the years, but this was the first time that we weren't impressed with the quality of the meat. We ordered the ribeye, and it was more like a choice cut instead of prime, and there were some gristly pieces. The service was very good. We'll go back at least one more time, but if the meat is the same quality, we will not return."

"This is the second time we have tried the Chop House. We visit Palm Springs once a year and have enjoyed the Kaiser Group of restaurants. Last year we booked on Valentine's Day and were seated in an annex area of the bar This year we booked for a Thursday night. We were seated in an area of the restaurant where there were no other diners in, it was a lonely feeling. The server was very nice but somehow we felt out of sight out of mind. The servers kept going in and out of the kitchen but we were basically ignored.
I must mention that my wife and I were the youngest couple in the restaurant (we are in our 50s) the rest of the diners are retired couples who are probably regulars.
Needless to say this is our last time here."

"Based on our service, we seemed to be our waiter's first table on his own. He should have still been in training. It took him three tries to get a lemon to the table. I asked him for more club soda to dilute my drink but he brought me more vodka instead. Usually not a bad thing but not in this case. When asked how large the steak medallions were, he didn't indicate how many ounces each one was but indicated the size by creating a circle with his thumb and middle finger. When asked how the salmon was prepared, he was at a loss---didn't know the words grilled, broiled or sauteed. He just told us what the salmon was served with.
The food was good but the restaurant is not one I would recommend."

I had the Scottish salmon which was cooked perfectly and served with a light sauce, tempura style green beans and long grained rice. The size of the salmon portion was generous! My friends had the prime rib, crab legs, and sole. Maybe the osso buco was overcooked or a day old?? I tasted it and it wasn't as moist and yummy as some I have had.

"I brought my whole family here with my 8 month old baby and my other 2 kids below 10. The food was great, the atmosphere was good and the service was excellent. I loved their Cobb salad and obviously their steaks were amazing. The seafood choices were also good. I would try another locations but this place was awesome."

"We were actually a little disappointed this time. Our waiter was marginal but we realize it was Valentines Day and all restaurants are overcrowded. I think we'll celebrate the day before or after in the future!

"The food was good, not great. The ingredients were very good, but the chefs obviously don't have talent. There was not one item cooked to the quality they charge for the food. I don't mind paying a lot for a good meal, but they did not deliver the quality they should have for the price. The meat needed some salt and was cooked unevenly. The lobster mac and cheese was a joke, it had almost no lobster in it and had a very bland taste. The creme brûlée was burned. Not impressed, and I won't be returning."

"Disappointing visit. We have been there many times in the past. Ribeye was not cooked properly and not very tender. Wine list was good, Dessert portions very small. Our server was very pushy, which is saying it moderalty.Promoted the larger Ribeye portion(corn fed) over the smaller portion(grass fed), saying the flavor would be much better, It wasnt. Not very good on the follow up. Water glass sat empty for about 15 minutes, didnt follow up to ask about having more wine after our glass was empty for over 10 minutes. Just a very average experience."
