"It's great eating at a place that offers thoughtful vegetarian dishes as well as a generously portioned half-chicken to satisfy vegetarians and omnivores alike. Flavors on the berbere-spiced chicken were right on, and the spring vegetables with mixed grains were nicely prepared. Service was informative and warm, and we liked the slightly aquarium-effect of the windows all around."

"First of all, they do actually serve meat. It's not ordinary meat though-free range, organic, usual buzz words. But the vegetarian items are where it's at. Vegan charcuterie is incredible."

"we had a great meal. we chose a variety of selections, from the vegan charcuterie plate to fish. our only issue was that several of the dishes were fairly spicy, but nothing on the menu warned us of that. Why not say so? There are many who don't enjoy spicy food, including one person in our party whose dish was too spicy."

"This would be my last meal. The vegan charcuterie, while always a little different and seasonal, is hands-down the best freaking thing I have ever eaten (sorry grandma). I am always delighted at the different and whimsical cocktails, and the food always is top-notch, delicious, fresh, and seasonal. I decided to try the tomato and fontinella pizza this time, just to see how they do simple- and it was lovely. The crust is super-thin, bubbly at the edges and crisp, tasting slightly of wood smoke. The service is a delight, attentive without being hovery, and always knowledgeable and has great suggestions. This is my very favorite restaurant, not just in Berkeley, but anywhere."

"Service was very good. The manager asked us if we would move to another table during our meal, because they needed ours for a large group. This was not a problem, and the manager comped our appetizer and a round of drinks. Very accommodating.

"Although the food was delicious and beautifully prepared, we can away with a sense that spmething just was not compelling about the restaurant - it seemed to lack a certain ambiance and charm. The wait satff seemed a bit snobby and pretentious. We glasses of wine which were served in large goblet and the wine came up only about a 1/3 of the way - it made it look like a cheap portion of wine. Get over the bog goblet glass thnig and serve in a glass the looks full. I mistakenly ordered the sweet Sauvignon Blanc and did not realize it was a dessert wine. When served , I asked the waiter and about and requested a different chice - he has a bit of an attitude about it."

"If you enjoy vegetarian or vegan food, this is the place for you. The produce is wonderfully fresh and well-prepared. If you want a big meat choice and the wines to go with them, choose a different restaurant. We had heard about Gather from various sources and were curious, plus we needed a restaurant in the Berkeley's theater district so we decided to try it. We were not disappointed in the quality of the fresh vegetables or the creativity exhibited in preparing them. We found the menu to be rather limited, though. I never order a hamburger or chicken when I go out for a nice dinner but ended up with the burger because there were no other options I was at all interested in. It was delicious, however, and I enjoyed it."

"We love Gather. The vegan charcuterie is always something to look forward to - each unique flavor comes off so powerfully and it's always, beautifully presented.
We usually also split a Prather Ranch burger, but the other night I had local grains with asparagus & snap peas, and my husband had a juicy, delicious half chicken.
The ambience is light and fresh and beautiful."

"Wow, what a find. We happen to be at Berkeley seeking a vegetarian restaurant, we found positive reviews for Gather.
Really glad we went, as they do incredible things with vegetables. In fact many dishes are not only vegetarian, also gluten free. What really made it though were the amazing flavors and presentations. The veggie charcuterie was fantastic, you would never miss having meats and/or cheeses here - 4 different vegetables, artfully presented. For our entree we shared the Yuba Parpadelle, which had an amazing bolognese sauc made from pumpkin seeds. Admittedly the Yuba pasta might not appeal to all, but the sauce made the dish.
Can't wait to return and try other things!"

"Kale Salad was cooked. You should be advised if the salad is cooked.
Probably a good restaurant for flatbread or pizza. Asked for a double, dopio espresso and they brought it in two cups. Good espresso . Staff was friendly and helpful."

"Gather is great. The only issue we had was parking -- it literally took 25 minutes to find a spot. (Friday afternoon 1:30) Even then it was 2 1/2 blocks on Bancroft at a one hour meter which necessitated running back to fill the meter."

"Kale salad ($13) was so hard that our server had to bring us stake knife to cut it. Un-eatable. Appetizers were pricey and so small. Pizza was dry and fish (halibut) was so expensive ($33). Two thumbs down!!"

"Food was really really excellent. We started with the asparagus appetizer. It was small but ever so delicious. Followed with the sausage pizza - also really amazing flavors. Service was only so so. They seemed a little scattered and things generally took quite awhile to come out. Ambience is fun and noisy. We recommend!"
