"The atmosphere and service at North 44 was very much satisfying. I brought my wife, who is a Chef de Cuisine, for her birthday and she was totally happy with her dinner (Bison Steak). The staff was very friendly, outgoing and relaxed. We especially loved the transparent (show) kitchen where we had the chance to see the chefs at work if desired. Only set back was, debit payment option is not offered (not announced/advertised) and bison steak bled unto plate before leaving the kitchen. Dessert was phenomenal with a surprise candle for the birthday lady."

"We were celebrating a friend's birthday and the entire evening was noteworthy. The service was exceptional and we were treated with attentive care and the atmosphere was most relaxing. We all thoroughly enjoyed every moment we spent there each dish met or surpassed our expectations. There were no complaints!
The "birthday boy" was bold enough to order the Cowboy, a 32oz. rib-eye steak and it was exceptional and prepared exactly to his liking. He shared the experience with friends the next night at another birthday event."

"We loved everything about our experience at North 44. The ambiance and service was terrific. The features we had were outstanding. The trout was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The tomato soup appetizer was fantastic. The veal tenderloin feature was presented very well and tasted amazing. We will deinitley be returning again."

The speed at which we were served made me think that they had resold our table and were keen to move us out. I was right. There were people waiting when we left 90 minutes after our arrival and as I walked out the door someone was being seated in our place. At the price we paid I did not expect to feel rushed. And why was I emailed with confirmation of my booking and then had two phone calls to confirm it? My guess... to ensure that we were coming because they had a line up to take our place.
Also, not to be uncharitable, the décor was pretty well unchanged from the last time I was there, 10 yrs ago."

and the food certainly didn't suffer at all for it. Not a lot of chefs would be so accommodating. Absolutely delish.

"The staff were welcoming at the door and attentive to our needs throughout the meal. The ambiance was pleasant, too. The food was generally well prepared and tasty, but the meat in my main course was a little tough. Although it was a good experience overall, I must say that, given the prices, I expected a little more."

"We have gone to North 44 over the years for many special occasions. On this wedding anniversary, we were greatly disappointed. The noise level made conversation almost impossible. The Dover Sole was overcooked, over-buttered, and unappetizing. The steak was mediocre. The other dishes, except the chocolate dessert which was excellent, were also mediocre.
The prices were very high, but would have been acceptable if value had been delivered.
We have no plans to return."

"Was disappointed with the food. Duck with foie gras and risotto was swimming in oil. Duck was very fatty and chewy. Risotto was swimming in oil. A real disappointment. Service was excellent as you would expect from a restaurant of that calibre. Not what I was expecting overall."

"Excellent food as usual, great menu diversification as well.
Service was friendly but unobstrusive.
One star was deduced solely because of the door man. He was too busy texting on his cell phone that he didn't open a door for a lady exiting the restaurant (the lady actually walked into the glass door thinking the door man was going to open it...). Our group left a couple minutes after once taking our coats and the door man had to finish texting before finally holding the door open for the remaining of our leaving party. (March 22, 2013, left around 9pm)"

"Food is nothing more than a milestone restaurant, and definitely you don't get much as you pay around 200 dollars per person and being served by a super market desert and a very normal food that you can find in any restaurant around you. Almost 70 dollars for steak and you get a very descent meat serving with french fries!it is so funny for the price you pay. I felt it is like pre packed foods you can find in Mc Ewan super market in shops at don mills. Nothing more than that! I recommend go to Stock at trump or Bosk at Shangrila or even Canoe by oliver an Bonaccini at least you will get a 5 star service and fresh food by the price you pay."

"North 44 has been our favorite restaurant in Toronto, particularly for special occasions, for many years, and our most recent experience there only enhanced its reputation. The fact that it's near our home makes it the most elegant neighborhood restaurant imaginable. The food is tremendous - inventive, beautifully cooked, delicious and memorable. The service is relaxed and attentive at the same time, not an easy combination, and the atmosphere very comfortable."

"Mark McEwan never fail...best winterlicious ever. My husband & I were here for Winterlicious...food, service and everything were great. We were really surprised, as most restaurant usually mess up during the licious weeks, but never at a Marks restaurant. The portion of the 3 corse were pretty decent too, it fills you right up after the main course. Love the dessert, esp the pop rock pot de creme, it reminds the pop rock ice cream we had before @ Bymark...one of the best in house made ice cream u can have.

"The family went for a special occasion and the experience was disappointing as the food was not up to standard. One dish was not as advertised and another was very mediocre. "The only down side I found was that their heat must not be too great because we had to move tables due to a draft and there washrooms in the basement had this cheep plug in heater to try and keep them warm... Was not impressed."
