"We dined here on Mother's Day and found the menu to be very limited in main dining area. Not good for kids especially since they don't allow to order from the bar menu. My dish was tasty (sea-bass and shrimp on banana leaf). We were disappointed with the calamari there were 8 pieces long shaped pieces - not like the shape and taste of calamari we are used to. The one good thing is that we had a great ocean view. Next time I would return for lunch and sit at the Foot Bar area I'm certain everyone will enjoy it much more. Ambiance is great!"

"The food and scenery are what make this place good. I would have rated my experience higher if our server had taken care of us better. It took 2 hours for us to get in and out of there WITH a reservation. It was Mother's Day brunch and I didn't understand how he could be so overwhelmed with our orders when we were ordering off the bar menu. It wasn't very busy at one point, and we still didn't see him for over 20 minutes. In the end, I'd come back, but not for a big event. Thank you."

"Dukes is always a must go destination for out of town guests. Right on the water, the view is the best part of the restaurant, often including seals, dolphins and sea fowl of all kinds. The food at Dukes is standard American fare, always well prepared and tasty. The service is efficient and cheerful. We took Mom for Mother's Day and it was a madhouse. They were at over capacity, yet handled the crowd with real skill. The brunch was excellent and, while so noisy conversation was difficult, the ambience was warm.

"We absolutely love the brunch and so my family took me there for Mother's Day this year. While seating was ample, the quality and type of food at their brunch really seemed lack luster in comparison to what it normally is. It was also very hard to get our servers attention for coffee or water refills, etc. I'll go back, but not for a big holiday like Mother's Day, as they didn't handle the influx of guests as much as I would have liked. I should also mention we were there early in the morning (10) so I'm sure it probably got a bit worse. Still love the view and the food, we will be back!"

"A group of us went to Mother's Day brunch and were very disappointed in both the food and service. The selection and quality of food was fair, and dessert choices were meager and poorly displayed...not festive at all. We had a terrible waiter who provided very little service and acted like he was doing us a favor. No matter how many times we requested coffee or tea, we were ignored and none was provided. We finally had to ask a different server to help us. The restaurant was very crowded and not conducive to chatting. We definitely won't be returning to Duke's Sunday brunch."

"After traveling for two hours from Orange County to try out this restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised with the similarities to the other locations we had visited on several trips to Maui, Hi. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff was friendly. the views of the ocean were spectacular! All items we ordered were very tasty and the fish tasted like it had been caught that day. Our server seemed slightly inexperienced, but he was friendly and was trying to keep up with his tables. We finished our meal with the famous Hula Pie which was just as we remembered it on Maui. Over all we had a good experience. We hope next time we visit there is not road construction on PCH!"

"Dukes is the ultimate in local Hawaiian dining. The setting is fantastic with the waves crashing against the rocks right outside the window and the spray reaching the glass. Though a "nicer" restaurant one would not feel out of place in jeans, nor dressed for a special event. The food is creative, unique, and delicious. Though there are offerings on the menu for those who don't care for fish, the fish is what makes this place. Daily specials brought in from the islands makes for a true Hawaiian dining experience. We will return over and over again."

"The staff could NOT have been more accommodating. We have 2 young boys under 3 and they went out of their way to make sure we had a nice view of the ocean, as well as plenty of space for our kiddos. The food was AMAZING! Our 3-year old even gobbled down a lobster tail vs. his Mac & cheese (which we parents really enjoyed). Since we were so full from dinner, we skipped dessert, so they gave me one of our appetizers for free as a birthday gift. Could not have had a nicer birthday. Great way to spend the evening!"

"From the valet, hostess and waiters, our service was superb! We arrived 15 minutes early and were seated right away near a opened window booth. Had an outstanding ocean view and could smell the fresh sea. We enjoyed their delicious Baja Fish Tacos and their Mango BBQ Burger. An extra treat after lunch was when we were able to view from our table, several pods of whales migrating north."

"Overall an excellent dining experience, great views of the water and a very romantic and peaceful setting. The food was excellent and the service was very good! There was a family next to us having a very loud argument. Many of the diners seemed to be disturbed by their shouting and cursing, I felt that management should have came over and asked them to settle down or take the disagreement outside as it ruined the ambiance of the dining experience for many of us."

"Overall we always seem to have a good time when we come to Dukes. Waiter was great. Forgot his name actually. Only complaint I have about this place would be the people that greet you and show you to your table. Never understood why you need fie workers just standing there, and never really properly greet you. Seems like such a waste. View is great, food makes up for the bad first impression. Overall I would say a 3 out of 5"

"The seven of us went to Duke's for dinner on my birthday. The food and service were great as always and we loved watching the ocean waves crash against the rocks and see the sea lions and dolphins playing in the kelp beds. We even saw Brown Pelicans diving for food. And Duke's comped us a delicious birthday dessert. The last time we ate at Duke's in Malibu we learned that the hostess who greeted us as a child was the inspiration for the Gidget book and movies. So now my family has visited Duke's in Malibu, Huntington Beach and Lihue and they are all great fun!"

"One of the world's great settings used to be wasted on mediocre food and service. But for the past few years, the service has been attentive, warm and friendly, the seafood cooked properly.
Great location for people from Palisades and Santa Monica to meet people from Conejo Valley and other areas to the north. That's how we use the restaurant."

"We have been to dukes before for brunch,another for just drinks and hanging i the bar taking in the view,it was good and fun both times.Easter brunch was not anything special at all,food was ok,there were suppose to be added items for Easter brunch over regular brunch days,we noticed nothing different,less deserts than before or friends were not impressed at all bill totaled 85.00 would not do it for brunch again."
