"The food is still wonderful, particularly the baking - but the friendly, warm service is gone. I was there twice in a week, had different servers both times, and in both cases I felt as if I were troubling the staff rather than being the reason they're there in the first place. I felt at once rushed and unattended to. I recommend Good Enough to Eat, right up Amsterdam, instead!"

"Finishing up the scholastic year and went to brunch with a couple of friends. I went to this place already knowing it would be good. And most certainly it did not disappoint. The service was great--caring but not too in your face buzzing around like a bee. Food was delicious--most definitely food coma worthy. Noise level was not something I recall probably meaning it wasn't too noticable. I remember it was a good enough noise level to stimulate conversation more and not draw from it at all. The main reason I gave it a 4 was because as great as my experience was, I felt it lacked that extra something to make it absolutely stunning. Not sure what it will be in any restaurant but I think you get my drift."

"Food: Standard breakfast/lunch fare. Nothing wrong with eggs/sandwiches/pancakes, but why pay for mediocre food when you can make it better at home? Similar food was served much better at Bouchon Cafe (Time Warner)
Service: Poor. Staff lacked enthusiasm & energy, no facial expressions, especially front reception. They stood there the whole time with their heads down,it was hard to get a table/order food/pay the bill/get more water. They looked miserable and sad.
Ambience: What? What did you say? Can't hear you...It was LOUD inside, mommies w/ their crying toddlers. We were seated next to a loud group of girls who chatted non-stop w/ lots of table slamming/hand clapping in their conversation.
Value: not great (you get the idea)"

"I have dined at Sarabeth's numerous times over the years. I had always had a great experience in the past, but this time not. I understand that a waitress’s job is difficult, particularly when the restaurant is full/crowded. This time we went at lunchtime on a weekday, so even though it wasn’t as packed as it would have been on a weekend, it was full. Still, a nice place such as this comes with a certain expectation of decent service. Unfortunately, this aspect fell so short that it really affected our experience."

"Nothing outstanding, many places very closeby - on the same block - that have better food, and much more memorable. But for sentimental reasons we go when an old family friend visits."

"We celebrated Mothers Day with dinner at Sarabeth's. As in the past, it was a great choice. Everything we ordered was excellent - the burger, pasta, and fish (salmon and halibut). The atmosphere is great, and the tables nicely spaced. Our only disappointment was that the service was a bit slow, which was surprising given they told us they needed us out by a certain time for another reservation. But we'll be back!"

"The entrees were very good and presented very well. The desserts of course were the best! Our waitress was very nice.
It is a bit loud due to acoustics, children & an espresso machine in the middle of restaurant/clanging of coffee cups being put away, etc. did not help & it was empty by 9:00 p.m. on a Saturday night. We felt like the staff was ready to clean up & go home (they did not pressure us, it was just empty.)"

"While I generally visit Sarabeth's during the day and enjoy breakfast type foods, on Monday my grown daughters called and asked if we could do dinner. We went on line and chose sarabeth's. GREAT MOVE! We began with a bottle of Proceco and each ordered the pepper crusted yellowtail. Grerat food. great service.great nite"

"We have just moved into the neighborhood and are trying new restaurants. We heard Sarabeth's was good for brunch so thought dinner might be good as well. The food was good but the service was not! Very inattentive. I had to get up twice to ask for missing bread plates and forks and it wasn't resolved all that quickly. Not a bad place but there are many better places!"

"Mediocre food, it was just all ok, I thought it pricey for the mediocre food...I would look for something different in the neighborhood. I think Sarabeth does a good brunch, they should stay with what they know."

"This was our last breakfast in the city as we were moving and we chose Sarabeth because we love them! In the past three years, we most often went to SBW for breakfast on Saturday's. You need to make a reservation for the weekend though, or you will wait, and wait, and wait... If you love English Breakfast Scones, not the American kind, you need to go to Sarabeth's and get the scone, order some "clotted cream" request red jam and you have your very own non-American little treat after your meal. We mostly get the red omelette but the Eggs Benedict is completely divine! The service is a real hit or miss unfortunately. The hostesses dress inappropriately most times, and are not friendly in the least bit. Cheers"

"Just an always delightful destination. In town celebrating a birthday and Sarabeth's West for dinner started to close out a wonderful day. We were in a Live Jazz Thursday evening which was an unexpected delight.
Food and service were both excellent. While it's not haut cuisine, it's perfect for excellent food and a pleasant, casual atmosphere and is perfect for day-trippers.
I love Sarabeth's. Oh, and the baked good are to die for."

"I've been to Sarabeth's before and had a good experience, so I decided to take my family here when they were visiting the city. Bad decision. Our meal lasted over two hours because the service was so poor. We were seated for a full 30 min. before the waitress took our order, our drink orders took 20 min., and we had to repeatedly ask the waitress to fill up our waters. The most annoying part was the staff's inability to clear our table. Our guacamole appetizer remained uncleared on the table for the entire meal. We were given coffee and dessert menus while our cold entrees sat in front of us, again, uncleared. To top it off, the waitress brought a pot of tea to the table with no water in it. Food was good, but service was awful."

"I hadn't been to any Sarabeth's in a couple of decades. When I visited in the 80's it was for their great brunch. The reviews said that dinner was really good, and it truly was. The food was delicious, prices fair and portions ample. Stuffed Lobster, Seared Tuna and Lamb Chops were all most enjoyable. Service was really good. We will be back again soon."

"I loved the homey feeling there. It's not fancy and I didn't even feel like I was in New York. I thought there was great value in terms of the food we got for the price. It's not really for "foodies," but just simple, good tasting food."

"Sarabeth's is always consistent. Their Bloody Mary's are wonderful with pickled peppers and jicama. Just lovely! We always share the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes as our "appetizer" for the table. They melt in your mouth! This time I ordered the Lobster Roll and it was absolutely delicious. The best Lobster Roll I've ever had...the lobster meat was so very tender. Great for brunch or lunch!"

"Lunch review. I came here for lunch on a Tuesday. It was almost full. I had salmon eggs Benedict, which was actually disappointing. The eggs were on the hard side. Egg york didn't come out when I cut the egges. I'm also not a fan of the soft bread under the eggs. The service was ok. Nothing really stood out. I don't think I'll come back."

"Came for dinner mid-week. Tasty and good-sized cocktail. Jumbo lump crab cake appetizer was excellent. Rack of lamb was good, but nothing to rave about. This isn't the place for culinary art, but rather a solid, dependable neighborhood establishment."

"I love Sarabeth's West--a bar with a bakery. But I really love it for the quiet ambiance. I can actually hear what my dinner companions are saying and I don't leave with laryngitis. It's my go-to place for dining when I want to hear and be heard."

"If you're looking for a great place to enjoy breakfast or even brunch look no further than Sarabeth's. They have a delectable menu and their "Four Flower" juice is a great way to start off your morning! Their lemon ricotta pancakes are out of this world and are the right combination of sweet and savory! Also, one must also try out their legendary preserves and basket of muffins/scones."

"We went with a group of 8, also appeared to be another group of similar size seated about the same time as us. Service seemed slow, the bread basket seemed like day old biscuits that were cool to the touch, would have been nice warmed up. Appetizers came out slowly. Had a pot of steamed mussels that were craving some good bread, but alas all we had were dinner rolls. This seemed stranger as the meal when on, since they had a very nice ciabatta roll that was used for a sandwich and would have been perfect for the mussels, when asking about this we were told they were special rolls and not available. Entrees arrive a short while later, may have been sitting on the pass for awhile, since they cooled down. Not rushing to get back."

"This one of our favorite places to eat after visiting the American Museum of Natural History. I had the Lobster Prix Fixe, a delcious bowl of black bean soup followed by a 1 1/2 pound lobster stuffed with crabmeat ( not crab and bread stuffing but all crabmeat ) dessert and coffee. Unbeatable at $34."

"From the moment we walked in the door I was amazed at the overall atmosphere, energy and smell! Sarabeth's is a cozy little nook located close to Central Park that far exceeded anything I imagined it would be!
The service was excellent- being from Florida, we honestly expected to have the often heard of, "rude New York" service... but I must say- she was one of the nicest servers I have ever encountered!
Food... let's just say we were blown away! My (now) fiancee' loves brunch and when I discovered Sarabeth's I placed it as a must on our one day trip to NYC and I am happy I did!
We are returning in May and will def come back! Excellent choice!"

"It's a nice place. I think it's a bit pricey in some ways ($7.00 for a side of steamed green beans? Really guys?), but that the overall experience is very pleasant. Homey. They serve great comfort food - mac n' cheese, chicken pot pie, guacamole etc. - and it's really well done. The food is incredibly rich. Tasty.
Good for groups. Good for families. Not really a romance spot, but it's nice."
