Casona, the little Havana in the heart of Collingswood, features a menu ranging from traditional Cuban fare to Nouveau Latin cuisine. "My husband and I dined at Casona a few weeks back and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the paella and he had fish . We both enjoyed our meals and took doggie bags home. The portions are large. We sat outside because it was a warm night and loved the outdoor vibe. We will definitely go back again."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Casona. We had never been there before and were pleasantly surprised with their delicious food. We had the empanada trio appetizer and it was fantastic!!! Only problem was we had a reservation for 5:00 and were not seated until 5:45. There were two private parties that got done late but that was not our fault. I thought we should have been offered something complimentary for our patience but were not. In addition, the table next to us (also 2 people) were seated after us and ordered after us yet received each of their courses before we did. And we ordered the exact same food! Otherwise, we loved it."

"Myself and my two teenage kids went to dinner for a special celebration. We like to try new places and tend towards nice but slightly casual (think teenagers). We were really pleased and liked our food very much. Two of us had beef dishes and the other had a pork dish. The combinations of tastes were wonderful. The atmosphere was friendly and upbeat. The service was good but not as warm as it could have been, a bit curt - they were busy and appeared a bit behind. You need to be a meat eater as their signature dishes tend towards beef or pork. Agree with my kids - "This is a do over !""

"This was my third time dining at Casona. Once to carry out an amazing salad to eat at home. The second time on New Year's Eve. The NYE pre fixe menu was priced moderately given the holiday and the patio was enclosed and warm. Third time was an early lunch during the work week. What a nice neighborhood place."

"My experience was not that great. I went on Mother's Day. It wasn't even very crowded and three different servers came over to my table serving food we never ordered. The coffee was cold, even the refill. The food was cold and not good at all. I used to go there all of the time for dinner and it was better but I will not go back now. Too bad because I like the porch."

"Based upon the prices I had expected a higher end experience. Unfortunately, while our server was friendly and pleasant, she was also very slow and not very visible, and we had to corral bus staff to get our check. The food was average, and came out only warm, which suggested it had sat in the back a while before being picked up for delivery. A wrong salad was also delivered, which was replaced with the appropriate one after I was able to flag down our server. The interior was fine, and the enclosed deck appeared a pleasant setting to eat. The exterior steps showed some signs of wear. A very pleasant part of the meal was live music, which was just right for content and loudness."

"Wanted to take my wife out for a nice romantic evening for her birthday. Wasn't crowded on a Thursday night. Was looking forward to some Cuban flair only to find out they were out of each Cuban dish we tried to order. Ended up with a Mexican flair. Was told by friends who went there that they would make the best margaritas if you supply the tequila. We were handed 2 glasses with ice and a carafe of virgin marg mix. Waitress was nice but mostly non existent. Food was excellent, but again, it was Mexican not Cuban. Romantic evening ended up being just a so so night out. Good food, disappointing ambiance."

"Was so excited to give this place a try, but was disappointed for so many reasons. The service was horrible, horrible we waited 45 minutes for our food, and what was most insulting was the fact that a couple that arrived later received their food before us. The waiter for lack of a better term was unkempt in service and appearance. They didn't have the beverage I wanted, although advertised on the menu. The food (I had the lechon asado) was dry, flavorless and unappealing. I will definitely not be back."

"My fiance & I have had dinner at Casona before. It was delicious! This time.. not so much. The service was absolutely awful. The table next to us sat down a few minutes after we did & they got their appetizer before our server even opened our wine & asked if we needed anything to drink (We had the same server). We ordered guacamole and plantain chips as our app. It was very good. Almost an hour after we had our appetizer, we finally received our entrees. We both ordered the Lechon Asado. It was COLD! I waited for our server to come back to check on us, but another 15 minutes went by before she did. We were hungry so we ate our cold entrees. The pork was pretty good. The rice tasted very bland.. almost like white rice with chicken broth."

"My wife and I have visited Casona every once in a while since it opened, and the food seems to get better on each visit. This time we were accompanied by out of town friends and they were very impressed by both the food and the atmosphere. "This BYOB just past the the strips of stores and other restaurants is in a quaint victorian house. I was recently there reuniting with college sorority sisters for the lunch hour. The staff was so attentive and allowed us to chat over appetizers and then order our delicious entrees. The guac with plantain chips was delicious as were the empanadas. Several of us had the fish tacos which were also very tasty. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes cuban food in a charming atmosphere."

"The food portions were wonderful. The food tasty. My only mild complaint was that the whole meal was at a very leisurely pace. Not horrible, but would have liked it a tad faster. Mainly that is because I had two toddlers at home with bedtimes I was trying to get home for. We arrived at 7pm and left at almost 9:30pm (the toddlers ended up staying up a little late that night). The restaurant did surprise me with a gratis dessert with a candle because it was my birthday (even though we skipped dessert ordering). That was a lovely surprise. We will certainly go back as everyone of our dishes was very good."

"This was my first visit to Casona and I hope it will not be my last. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the Asian tuna guacamole as an appetizer for the table. It was out of this world...amazing. I would never have thought of the combination but it was unbelievable as were the tortilla and plantain chips that came with it. We were there durin restaurant and took advantage of the price fixed $30 menu for 3 courses. I had the braised short rib with mashed potatoes as my main course. Phenomenal! Service was good and everyone in our party of four was equally delighted with their food. Will definitely go again!"

"Tables are a bit cramped because it is a tight space, renovated house turned restaurant. However, the decoration and lighting are pleasant and romantic and the food is TOP NOTCH. My family is Cuban and the food is authentic and so worth the money."

"Been to Casona many times. However, this time the service was super slow, out of at least 4 items on the menu (I know because we had to keep ordering) and this was all on a Saturday evening @ 8 pm. Go early and don't have plans for after. What we did end up eating was good but the caramel flan desert caramel layer was so hard that it cracked when you tried to eat it."

"The food was fine. Nothing special. Cuban sandwich tasted more of mustard and pickle than anything else. Fish tacos were OK. Nothing to write home about. Guacamole was good.
The restaurant is located in a semi rundown house and we were seated in a corner with peeling paint and dust on the floor.
The menu had some inaccurate (lower) prices which ended up showing as higher on the bill. We mentioned it to the waitress, who went to ask the manager/owner (?) and he wouldn't honor the menu price. It was only a couple of dollars, but it rubbed us the wrong way.
We won't be returning. Too many better options."

"The staff was super friendly and helpful. Delicious food! We had the Habana Maduro and Cesta de Empanadas, both were fantastic! We loved the different dipping sauces and everything was really flavorful. We enjoyed the apps so much and we went straight for dessert. The dark chocolate mousse was amazing! The cookie crumbs inside are a nice little surprise of crunchy goodness. It was especially nice that the staff included a candle and wrote happy bday on my boyfriend's dessert plate to celebrate his birthday! Overall, great experience and we can't wait to go back when the weather warms up for the awesome outdoor seating area and to try more dishes."

"Excellent experience from our arrival to our departure. Seated quickly, very attentive wait staf, very knowledgeable waitress, especially as regards my wife's special diet needs. Not overly large portions. food was well prepared and very tastefull. Sorry that there was not a dessert that my wife was able to eat, however, this did not ruin the meal or experience. Yes, it was a little pricey, but not outlandish, and the meal was worth it."

"I had gone back expecting brunch to be as good as it was a few months back, only to find that Casona has changed chefs. They have changed a lot of their brunch menu and have less offerings. My boyfriend and I ordered two different dishes and neither was impressive. It is a shame because Casona used to be my favorite place for brunch."

"Our appetizers of empanadas, fried yucca and guacamole were delicious. It was a bit disappointing that we could not get the ceviche b/c they ran out due to a large party. The paella was extremely tasty. The beef fajitas, though good, consisted mainly of onions and peppers, with a few slices of beef, certainly not really enough to go with the 4 soft tortillas accompanying the entree. The restaurant was busy and it took almost an hour for our appetizers to show up. The entrees appeared much quicker though."
