A fine dining staple on the Bergen County restaurant scene since 1992... New ownership and recently renovated interior resembling a "swank private club" makes this restaurant a truly luxurious dining experience! The Eclectic American" menu features classic dishes with an inventive twist and sometimes international flair! Chef Adam Weiss's "plated works of art" will dazzle you!
"Our reservation was for a Sunday Brunch. The staff was welcoming, knowledgeable, and well-timed. The décor needs a little updating; sort of a 1980’s old world look….The food was disappointing, mainly because they did not cook our food as we ordered. My steak was well done, and my 8 year old grandson’s hamburger was not rare. The server was sorry and tried to correct if by bringing us a beet appetizer on the house. Still I think the food was terribly over priced for what we received."

"Have gone here 5 or 6 times in past 4 years. Food is good and service for the most part good. This last occasion they did not have any specials and one of the items on the menu was not available. It can happen but maybe they are reading their own reviews and are slipping."

"From the moment that you walk in to the time that you leave, you are made to feel special. We had the late reservations for a table of 5, and we were never short changed, because people wanted to go home. The courses were spaced out evenly and the team was totally attentive. Food was great from the main course to the side dishes. Thanks for a great evening."

"The decor is so beautiful and romantic that you hope to be able to give an outstanding rating; but something is missing on more than one front: the service is ok, nothing especially bad to point to, but not friendly, more like going through the motions; and it is all a bit too fast, on a Sunday when the place is busy, but not so busy that tables need to be turned over quickly; the food is good and well presented, but not very different from lots of places that are less costly. The wine list is very good, but the prices, for those which we have at home in our own cellar at least, seem generally to be more than twice retail prices."

"This is one of our favorite places, but on the night we were there the service was very slow--unusual of Esty Street. We sat quite a while before anyone took our drink order, and at the end of the meal there was no waiter in sight so we sat and talked waiting for our check. Finally I had to go out to the bar area to find someone and ask for a check."

"We enjoy esty street a lot, especially for special occasions. However on our most recent visit, the food was not that satisfying. I suppose there have been some modifications due to seasonal menu changes, but I didn't enjoy the changes. I also felt portion sizes were smaller. Overall I have always enjoyed this restaurant, but not on this visit."

"Unfortunatley we didn't have a good expierence. The waiter forgot to put our order in so app came 45min and a bottle of wine later. It was extremely noisey and the food was just ok. We had been there before so we were looking forward to a good meal but that wasn't the case. We wont be going back"

"Extremely disappointing. Service was great, food was not. Veal chop looked beautiful but was inedible. My husband had tasteless sea bass over overcooked quinoa and vegetables. Neither dishes had any herbs. Both entrees were overpriced at $45 each. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone."

"First time at Esty. As soon as I walked in I knew I would like it. The entrance opens into the bar area and it is very welcoming with a gas fire display behind the bar and candles and fresh flowers. The bartender was fantastic. Excellent drinks. Lovely manner and interaction. Service was wonderful. Our waiter Jack was very informed, pleasant and courteous. Dining room, tables, details -- all appeared to be thought out and in classic good taste. Very comfortable ambiance but also very special. We all enjoyed our food and were not rushed even though we took almost 3 hours to finish all courses. I was there with my Husband, Sister and Mother, but it would have been just as lovely for a romantic dinner for two. Highly recommend!"

"Sested right away. Service was attentive and responsive w/o being overbearing. Tables are a bit close and unfortunatly we had a loudish Jersey talker next to us so we had the benefit of two converstations. Food was great especially the calamari appertizer. Great wine suggestion with many great by the galss offerings. After the table with the Jersey mouth left the rest of the dinner was really good."

"the host (maybe the owner) was pompous and rude. the place was empty and he tried to seat us next to the door. he was not accomodating at all and behaved aloof. the food was good but wasnt exceptional for the price we paid. two salad appetizers, two entrees, one dessert and two drinks.... total with tip $165. thats a new york city night. not a northern new jersey night."

"The food is consistently excellent; the atmosphere comfortable and elegant. The wait staff is knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Esty is casual enough to visit every night and an exceptional pick for special events or a business dinner. Make reservations! It’s not that casual!"

"As always, our dinner at Esty Street was great! Chef Adam Weiss out did himself as usual and Kim, the owner was his charming self as usual. It was our 37th anniversary and they made it very special for us. Our 3 girls pick up most of the tab which is always nice also."

"Esty Steeet is a favorite of ours for special occasions, as it is a bit expensive. The food is always high quality and creative, and the ambiance is great. This time hovever, the service was quite fast, and we felt rushed, even though our server urged us to take our time. We couldn't help but notice that the couple at the table next to us arrived before us, but their appetizers and entres arrived much later than ours, which added tour rushed feeling. Otherwise, an excellent dining experience."

"We visit once or twice a year, for special occasions. We made reservations late, as the restaurant we were supposed to go to had not finished their renovations, but were able to get an 8pm. We were seated about 10 mins before our scheduled time. Very good service, the owner stopped by and we were able to speak to him about the wine list (very good). I had the duck quesidilla - would have loved to have a larger one as an entre - excellent. My husband had oysters. For dinner I had the Lamb Chop special - switching out sweet potatoes, which I do not like, for mustard mashed (wow - excellent). My husband had the duck. We both finished every scrap on the plate - it was that good. You will love your evening here"

"With a 9:30 reservation, my fiance and i did not expect to receive such great service and outstanding food. Most restaurants try to rush you out this late, and working in the industry ourselves, we could certainly understand. However, Esty Street felt like home from the moment we walked in. Each course was times perfectly, service was flawless and our meal was outstanding. I could elaborate so much more, but you can experience it all yourself by stopping in. The foie gras appetizer was phenomenal and my rack of lamb was a generous cut. The oysters were shucked perfectly and the grilled octupus appetizer was great as well.
Honestly, i cannot recommend this enough and look forward to returning again and again"
