"We have eaten at Tryst many times, always at the bar until this week. Stick with the bar. Dining room was busy but not crazy. The wait staff were nice enough but seemed overwhelmed. Took forever to get drinks. Great shrimp tacos. The spinach salad was really tasty, as well. Limited wine selection by the glass and my daughter's mojito was not very mojito like...too sweet and syrupy. Still like this place for a quick bite and a beer."

"We went out to enjoy a nice dinner together and Tryst is not only the place to do that but they also have TVs around so we were able to catch the Bruins game as well. The environment is vibrant but not too noisy and the bar is removed from the rest of the dining area so you don't feel crowded. Tables are spaced apart well and the food was EXCELLENT! Our only negative comment was that our waitress not good...perhaps she was tired."

"My wife and I visited Tryst for the second time using a Groupon and once again found that the fixed menu 4-course meal was very good. We liked all the options that were available and except for running out of the salmon main entree option we were pleased with the experience. The staff was efficient and pleasant and we were checked on several times between courses. We will return to try their Saturday and Sunday brunch and their regular menu items also looked very appealing."

"I used Open Table to find a restaurant which would be convenient to the Eegent Theatre in Arlington where we had tickets for a performance. We were very happy with our choice even though we knew nothing about Tryst beforehand. The food was excellent, very fresh and nicely presented. The service was outstanding - attentive without hovering. I am a "water-holic" so I loved that waitstaff constantly walked around refilling water glasses!"

"My wife and I ate from the Fixed Price menu with a Groupon. We both had the Ricotta Ravioli, and it was very tasty and a fairly large portion, as well. For the second course, my wife had the Spinach Salad, and she enjoyed it very much, while I had the Warm Tellegio Crepes, which were very good. For our entree I had the Glazed Duck, which was delicious, but the wild mushroom fried rice was scrumptious- the best fried rice I've ever had! My wife enjoyed the breaded hake, but she didn't care for the accompanying pea vegetable. I had the Pineapple Tian, which was very good, but my wife definitely made the better choice here with the Molten Chocolate Cake with coffee ice cream--- mmmm delicious! As usual, the service was excellent."

"I brought my mother and brother for Brunch on Mothers Day and we all really enjoyed the place! The food was delicious and cook perfectly. It was busy so the service was a little slow, but our server was friendly and funny. Brunch was slightly on the expensive side, but well worth it. I think I'll try Tryst for dinner some time :)"

"Heard great things about Tryst and wanted to try. Food and waiter / hostess were great but "energetic" noise level was downright obnoxious. Service was a bit slow but more likely due to number of tables waiter was assigned to than his pace. Would recommend some sound proofing improvements before I would return."

"Tryst was recommended as a good local restaurant to have dinner with business associates and it did not disappoint. The food was fresh, the combination of ingredients well paired, everything well seasoned, and well presented. We went from appetiziers, to salads, to entrees, to dessert and were pleased with each selection. Kudos to the kitchen!"

"The shrimp tacos were great, fresh and full of flavor. Supposedly the pasta is homemade, but the Tagliatelle Bolognese was nothing special, the sauce only so-so.
We sat in the back, near the kitchen, at the low tables. The dining room lacks charm and character. Could add artwork or something to make it look special instead of nondescript."

"We were seated right away. parked on street, but also a lot behind. waitress came over right away, and took our drink order. Gave us the specials. menu good for light bite or a nicer dinner. We had dinner. 2 couples, each split a salad. ours the Kale and Broccoli...delicious, and they split it in the kitchen, always apprciated. dinners, 3 pigs under brick, all thoroughly enjoyed, and 1 chicken, very delicious as well. Meals were just right size. service was very good. Off to. The theatre, with time to spare."

"I went on a Saturday night for a 7:30 reservation and the place was really lively. I only had to wait about 5 minutes past our reservation time which wasn't too bad at all, especially considering how busy the place was. The service was absolutely outstanding. Our server was gracious, prompt, thorough, and exceedingly polite. It was far better service than I would expect from a place with televisions on the walls. Kudos to our server for making our meal great. The food is delicious as well. I had the flat iron steak which was done perfectly. Although I could see basketball on the televisions, it wasn't too distracting and I was able to enjoy the meal away from the hustle of the bar area which can be full and lively in the evenings."

"We enjoyed our meal and the service was good -- attentive but not intrusive. As a couple in our 60s we appreciated being asked at reception if we had a preference for low seating vs high seating, as we do prefer "low". We were seated in a very quiet, television-free corner, at a table for four, and were able to have nice conversation to go with our meal. This is a neighborhood restaurant for us, and we'll be back."

"It Tryst a romantic getaway or a sports bar? It's hard to tell with the sparse decorations and the large-screen TVs lining the walls on both sides of the dining room. The food is good, but there are many other better option in the area. And the busser cleared and then wiped down our table after the appetizer and bread as if the meal was over, which we found quite odd and which left us no bread plates or utensils when our requested bread refill arrived. Some training needed here."

a birthday dinner i would rather forget. my fish was under cooked, sweet potatoe fries burnt, ... not a pleasant experince.
from the moment we sat down everything seemed to be rushed"

"We'd tried several times earlier to go to Tryst, but without a reservation found it difficult. This time we made a reservation, spurred on by Tryst being one restaurant among a several giving a percentage of their take to victims of the Marathon bombing. We found the overall experience extremely pleasant, and will be happy to return."

"I had dinner with a friend before a show at Arlington Friends of the Drama. The staff were all very helpful and got us out of the restaurant on time even though I arrived late. The cocktails and food were delicious! I would definitely recommend this restaurant, and I'll probably eat here again any time I am in the area for a show."

"Greeter first tried to sit us at a high-top even though we had a reservation. The restaurant can't decide if it wants to be a nice place to eat or a bar and grill. Why would you have TV's in the main dining room area that end up being a distraction when you are trying to have a nice quiet dinner and conversation. Very disappointed considering the great reviews I had seen for it. Definitely will not go back or recommend to our friends"

"We've made several visits to Tryst, and have always come away happy with our choice. Food is excellent, with interesting twists on standards and a generally well-thought out and well-prepared menu. Nice wine list, interesting beers. Reasonable range of offerings for vegetarians. Service is good - pleasant, helpful wait staff - though it can be a bit slow at peak dining times. Not a big deal, but we'd recommend allowing a bit extra time if you have theatre tickets (there are several theatres nearby) or other time-sensitive plans. Anbience sorta depends on where you are seated - there's a more energetic bar and "high-top" area, and a quieter, subtler area as well. Will continue to be one of our favorite spots when we are in the area."

"We were not as impressed as at previous visits. They had a nice selection of choices for Restaurant Week but the food itself was not as good. It was overseasoned. I had the crostini appetizer which came with a small arugula salad in a vinaigrette dressing. The dressing was very acid and peppery and almost too strong to eat. The plate was dusted with pepper and the server offered more cracked pepper if I wanted but didn't. After eating it I was picking pieces of pepper out of my teeth. A very strong taste of pepper. My husband's tagliatelle was over seasoned with basil. All you could taste was basil. My entree came with more arugula salad which I did not eat. The server disappeared after we ate and we sat waiting for the check."

"Is this a bar or a restaurant? The TV's all around are very disturbing (all showing sports shows) and the music was way too loud. Maybe this is a new trend? Food was very good and enjoyed the pig under a brick and the oysters. Desserts were good and the wine pairing was excellent. We'll be back when we want to go to a bar, not a restaurant."

"Everything was good but the shift to having more high tops in the bar area rather than sit down tables in more intimate settings is pervasive now across the restaurant scene. I'm not a fan. A restaurant experience should be special with opportunities for discussion, hand folding, romance, etc. Instead, the world is heading more towards a eat and run environment. That said, Trsyt is managing this transition better than most."
