"We visited the Wine Cellar to celebrate my wife's birthday. Our son, who lives in Jacksonville, joined us. While we were waiting for him we enjoyed a glass of wine in the small, intimate bar area. At our reservation time, we were seated in the location that I had requested through the Open Table reservation service. We had time to talk before our waiter took our order. We ordered from the orix fixe menu. Each of us had different selections for each course. The food was marvelous and the service was great! The bottle of wine from the extensive selection wasnot overpriced. For the level of this restaurant I thought the prices were reasonable. An 18% gratuity was figured in to the price, which was also reasonable."

"We were in town for a conference for my wife and chose this due to their being open late and having good ratings on Open Table. We were seated promptly and had cocktails, followed by wine to accompany dinner. The salads were good and the main courses were well prepared. I had a lovely scallop dish over polenta and my wife had fish. The waiter was engaged and attentive, service was prompt. The ambiance is pretty low key and I expected more from the wine list (which is just OK in my view). But, the food was nicely done and thus, we'd recommend this to anyone looking for Jacksonville dining."

"The entire meal, from beginning to end was superb. The setting, the wait staff and the ambience made this a memorable dining experience. The restaurant is a little bit off of the beaten path, but well worth the find. We are looking forward to a return visit in the near future."

"Although I've been to Wine Cellar many times, I keep coming back because of the service and the location. Honestly, this past visit the food was not up to the standard I've come to know them for. The portions were quite small actually. I know some of the men went away hungry. Still a good place for business lunch - great ambiance and good location to down town."

"We recently moved back to Jacksonville after 25 years and was pleased to see the Wine Cellar was still there. We had a good dinner, the waiter was outstanding. It was nice to go somewhere where the food was good, the noise level was low and guests actually dressed decently. We will go back as we like local places and we had a very good experience."

"I took a friend new to town to the Wine Cellar. Her shrimp over orzo was OK - not bad, but nothing to rave about. My chicken caesar salad had an overpowering anchovy flavor that made the whole salad overly fishy-tasting. I understand that traditional Caesar salad has anchovy paste, but it would have been helpful for the waiter to let me know, since a lot of restaurants make chicken caesars w/o anchovies. A flavorless, pan-seared chicken breast was plopped on top. I ate less than half of the salad b/c of the taste. Total bill for six shrimp over orzo, caesar salad and two iced teas, plus a 16% gratuity added to the bill: over $36. No bread was served with our lunch either. For that price, I can get better meals elsewhere."

"The occasion was our 37th anniversary. I ordered the soup, lettuce wedge and the filet, my wife ordered the duck and escargo. The soup was very good but for $9 the serving was small, the lettuce wedge was a 1/4 wedge for $9, my filet was outstanding. My wife did not like the flavor of the escargo and her duck was bland and not very crispy. Service was good but not outstanding. We ordered 3 drinks total bill $161 inc tip. Probably will not return soon but would go back for filet and would order from prix fix menu they have on the weekend. Note we did receive a free sparkling wine for our anniversary which was very nice"

"Quiet valentine's lunch with my valentine of 50 years. Our table was at the window looking out on an ancient Oak tree. We found the service attentive but not intrusive and friendly but not obsequious. The food was attractively plated, very well cooked, and aromatic. The servings were appropriately sized such that we were able to also enjoy desserts. We will be returning."
