"We went to Serafina for brunch on Saturday morning. Reso's were for 11, showed up 10 minutes early (restaurant had 6 or 7 tables) and the waitress told us that we needed to wait the 10 minutes before she could seat us. Weird. We sit down at the bar and the bartender hears what happened and seats us at a table. We sit...not one person addresses us for 11 minutes. The table next to us even mentioned it to their waiter! I finally flagged down a female manager who couldn't care less that we'd been sitting there. It turns out that we were there during the shift change and apparently this was the first day that this had ever happened because nobody knew what to do. When we finally ordered the food came out fast but it was delicious. Too bad"

"The Serafina chain has always had authentic italian pastas and pizzas at reasonable prices. But their service was often lacking in certain locations. After dinner at the 55th street location however, we were pleased to find the service prompt, polite and efficient. Roving managers seem to have things under firm control. Good work!"

"The service was nothing short of horrific. For the first time in a very long time, I chose to not leave a penny for a tip. The waiters and staff were overwhelmed by a full restaurant. No one bothered to provide even the most basic of services - providing bread and water, taking care of refills, asking if the food was OK< asking whether we wanted to order more, etc. The staff was picking up our plates even though we were waiting for our ordered food to arrive. We ordered a single dessert to share. The waiter just left it in the centr of teh table and left, oblivious to the fact that none of us had plates or utensils to eat the dessert with."

"After dining here a few times, I thought everything would be as it always was - great food, great service. NOT so. The service on Friday was beyond HORRIBLE. We had to keep asking for bread. About 15 minutes after taking our order the waiter told us our food is on its way. Fifteen minutes later we were still waiting for it. Food was not as good as it has been. My friend always orders the same and was extremely disappointed as was I with my entree. I certainly WILL NOT be going back or recommending this restaurant as I have in the past. Too bad, because we thought this was a good find - near City Center."

"I think this restaurant has fallen off quite a bit. The appetizers, calamari and some type of artichoke heart and shrimp salad were both underwhelming. If you can't make great fried calamari take it off the menu. The shrimp salad was very sour (and this is coming from someone who likes sour). The entrees, roast chicken for me and I think veal milanese for my friend were decent. The chicken was tasty and cooked nicely. The veal was just so so. I was expecting so much more. I could have been there on an off night, not sure. I like the place enough to give it one more try some time but not sure it will be any time soon."

"The food was very good but the service was pretty slow (we told them we had a concert to get to and that didn't seem to help - the waiter was hard to find). Also, they are playing background music that includes commercial breaks, which is the last thing you want at a nice dinner. However, again, we were very happy with the food and otherwise the ambiance is nice enough."

"We had a family, pre-theater dinner there. Everything we had was good - salads, pasta, pizza and especially the Tiramisu. The service was very friendly and quick. We were a little surprised that the 'table pizza' was not larger given the price. We would go back."

"I have been eating at Serafina's for the last 13 years, and have always loved it. This time around it wasn't nearly as good...It was so loud that our party of four couldn't hear each other. Our waitress forgot about our appetizer completely; we got our entrees first but couldn't even track her down to let her know. We also ordered wine at the same time as our dinner however we didn't get it until we were well into our entrees. It is an expensive place, and therefore a treat when we go. Overall it was just really disappointing."

"Serafina had a nice, low key vibe with a warm, cozy interior. We had Caesar Salad, calamari, salmon and rigatoni - all very tasty and nicely presented. Location was out of the immediate Time Square area but within quick walking distance. Service was quick and thorough, and pricing is good."
