"We were at this restaurant for a late dinner on a Monday. We chose to be seated at the open patio in the back. It was a nice relaxed dinner. The service was very attentive. The food was nicely done. For entrees I had Yellowfin Tuna and my companion had Chicken Chermoula. We shared a chocolate lava cake with ice cream which was delicious. Nice place if you like Mediterranean food near Gramercy Park."

"My family went for a birthday celebration and the atmosphere and staff were very friendly, especially telling us about the menu and answering any of our questions. We had appetizers and I recommend the grilled calamari and also the eggplant and grilled sausage were fabulous. My veal chop was cooked perfectly and I loved the sauce that came with it. The other members of my family also enjoyed the chicken parm, veal, and gnocchi. The food for the dollar we were spending was well below what I thought it was going to cost for the entire dinner. We will definatly being going back to Aleo in the near future"

"Mothers Day Brunch for 6. Service was attentive and patient. We had a relaxed afternoon in a lovely garden. Brunch meals allowed for a nice variety of options to appeal to all tastes. We were all happy with our meals and will definitely return."

"Went there for the pre-fixe lunch with a coworker and the food was fantastic, the best calamari and chicken parm I ever had. We we're able to eat in the garden, the waiter was attentive, and the crowd was reasonable. The wine was a little expensive but I would definitely come back anytime!"

"I was very suprised by the so-so food and furious at the inattentive waiter with a bad attitude. The restaurant was almost empty so the waiter was not busy. He had to be asked to clear our table of dishware before bringing the second course. He did not refill water glasses when asked and kept moving away from our table when questioned about alcoholic beverages. He seemed irritated as though he did not want to be there. He never had a smile on his face and did not make us feel welcome. The food was nothing special and some of items lacked freshness. Aleo's website promotes itself as having "old New York" style. I am a native New Yorker and know what this means. Aloe does not measure up to the claim."

"We arrived at Aleo one hour prior to our reservation time and was seated right away. The place was empty so our server was attentive and polite. I ordered the chicken scarpariello , it came in a very nice presentation but had NO chicken in the dish. I had three small bites of chicken and the rest of the plate was sausages. I would not recommend this restaurant and would not go back"

"The food here is alway excellent. I had the branzino fish with a chickpea mash...excellent! There was a very large theater party being served when my party arrived, so service was a bit slow in the beginning. Once the theater group departed, then service was very good! Everyone in my party of five had a different entree and all commented that the meal was excellent!"

"Although I wanted to love Aleo, everything about it was perfectly average. When we made the reservation, we requested outdoor seating, then called to confirm. I have to say I have no idea why they are rated as one of the best places to eat outdoors. The outdoor seating area is a back garden, so it is nice to be off the street. But it is boxed in with tall buildings, has a cover over about 1/2 of it, and the decor is limited to a couple strands of lights. It took 15 minutes before anyone came over to ask if we wanted a drink, and when the waitress finally did, she didn't even acknowledge the fact that she had made us wait-the slow service continued throughout the meal. All of the food was perfectly average, and too expensive for what it is."

"For only having one person serving and waiting on all the tables, this was a fine restaurant. They did mess up our order though and of the two of us, one received something not even remotely close to the order. Food was delicious though!"

"Party of 8, 6pm res. We arrived an hour early, they let us in, we split a few bottles of wine and then around 6pm we ordered, everything arrived at the same time and was excellent. We dined, had coffee and they allowed our party to stay, relax and talk until 8:45pm. They were so accommodating and friendly. Since we spent such a long while in the restaurant and occupied a good bit of their table real estate, we gave our waiter a generous tip. When we squared up, the waiter came back to the table and said, "I think you have paid too much." And wanted to return some of the money. We told him that we truly appreciated their hospitality and his service and wanted to give a nice tip. We all received hugs. Highly recommend this restaurant."

"Our waitress was very energetic and pleasant. Service was very good. Food was very good with a nice selection of appatizers, salads, pasta, meats, seafood and daily specials. All very fresh and well prepared. It is a great place for business meeting, as it is quiet enough and you have room to spread out."
