"It started with complementary champagne and a perfect table with a view for our birthday celebration and ended with delicious sorbets. Our server Eric couldn't have been more accomodating. The manager stopped by to make sure that our experience was a good one. We thanked him for his concern and let him know that we appreciated all of the attention and great food. Our prior visit was memorable and this one topped the previous one. I have to admit that I treat this restaurant as a 'special occassion" place because of the prices but I hope to vist more often in the future."

"We had a dinner reservation at 9 but were not seated until 10 pm and did not get our food until after 11. Our waitress was nowhere to be found most of the night and the restaurant was FREEZING (bring a sweater)! The food and view were excellent but, for the expensive price, I expected much better service."

"It was my first time dinning here and everything was great. The waiter had a great personality & was very fun. I booked for 8pm because we would have day & night view. I ordered a cake the day before so I could sing my boyfriend happy birthday since the restaurant doesn't. I had to spoil the surprise that I ordered him a red velvet cake because I had to ask the waiter in front of him. Excuse me but I ordered a cake and no one brought it out."

"R2L is unlike any restaurant I've ever been to. The food was a creative spin on American cuisine and the staff was very accommodating without being overly intrusive. My girlfriend and I both enjoyed our meals (she almost never eats fish and loved the salmon). I got the spicy tuna and it was great. On open table I mentioned that it was my girlfriend's birthday and really made it a special night for us."

"R2L was everything I heard about and anticipated. I took my boyfriend there as a surprise dinner for his birthday. Getting a window table is VERY HARD. Although I asked multiple times prior to coming in, we still could not get a window table. However, our table was still near the window and was lovely. Our waiter welcomed us with 2 glasses of champagne (he know it was a birthday). He treated us like royalty throughout the whole dinner. The food was worth every penny! The hostess and waiter were accommodating to all my needs. I would definitely return to this restaurant and recommend it to anyone who is looking for an incredible dinner in the city."

"This is the fist time that I have reviewed a restaurant. Every aspect of our dining experience exceeded our expectations. We were fortunate to get a window table so the view was fantastic. We were greated with an unex[pected complimentary glass of champage. While the food selection was not large, it had enough for us to choose. Each of our appetizers, enrtres and side dishes were excellent. The desserts were even better. I can't say give enough praise for our dining experience. We will be back!"

"My sister was telling me about R2L, in which she had heard from someone else. I surprised my wife for her birthday by taken her to R2L. She and I both loved the view of the city. The food was excellent. She also was thrilled about seeing the mayor of Philadelphia seated a few tables away. We really enjoyed our time there. I recommend this place to anyone. In fact, I'm going to invite my sister and her husband to eat with us there on our next visit."

"I have dined at R2L on a few occassions now. The restaurant is consistently excellent. The ambiance and the views create an atmosphere that is hard to beat. The food is excellent and while the menu is not extensive, it is diverse, offering several different selections of meats, poultry and fish. There is some variability in the wait staff but the service is never less than very good and often absolutely superb even when the restaurant is busy. For special occassions or important clients R2L is always a first choice."

"First, I'd like to mention that I do not generally believe in giving reviews - I simply refuse to allow one person's bad experience to sway my curiosity. In this case, however, I cannot help but share my expeience - it was THAT good! We booked a reservation on a Wednesday for a Friday, requested a table by the window - seating was seamless and we had an unbelievable view! We picked a great time, 8PM, and were able to see the city both lit up by the summer sun and then lit up by nightime lights - both romantic and intriuing landscapes of the city. Everything was perfect - noise level, lighting, view, temperature, food, service, drinks... Everything! I will forever remember for the fact that it was simply a wonderful experience. Thank you!"

"My sister and I took our mom here for a special Mother's Day dinner. I had noted this in the reservation and they were sure to greet her with a Happy Mother's Day when checking in. At the end of the night, her dessert had a Happy Mother's Day message on it. They also made sure we had a seat near the window with a great view. Our server was exceptional and the food was great. Overall, we were impressed and had a wonderful evening at R2L. We dine out often and it was really nice to have such a personalized experience."

"Cant beat the views. Service was great but my salad was way too salty. Had the garden salad with pickled veggies and salmon. The lettuce was wilted and very salty. I guess from the pickling juice. Not cery appetizing. The salmon was good though."

"I brought my fiancee here for her 40th birthday and I simply wanted a desert brought out as a surprise. Simple right? wrong! First off, I did make the request when I made the reservation. As we were finishing dinner, I slipped away to make contact with our server to make sure it happens. Well our server wasn't in sight, so I asked another server to relay the message to our server. The other server told me to wait where I was standing and he would send our server to me. Ten minutes go by and our server is no where to be found. The other server walks by again and ask have I seem him and I replied "No" At this point the element of surprise is gone because I've been away from the table so long. We also had guess waiting at another location...."

"Our trip in Philly would have not been complete unless we visited R2L for dinner. It was a rainy Sunday evening next to the window and visibility was ohh lets just say less then optimal.... We have never been so taking in the ambiance was fine. Our waiter, and food were excellent. Harrison was attentive, cheerful and spot on with his demeanor at our table and the table next to us.
Certainly a place we'll be returning to on hopefully a Sunny Sunday Soon..."

"I recently took my girlfriend theyre for her birthday, and i must say she absolutely loved the resturant. The food was amazing and made your taste buds erupt with flavors, and the views of the city were somthing you'd have to experience yourself. After diner was over our waiter took us to a private room in the back to show us, what i call the best room in the resturant; which was a view of William penn on city hall... Must say you are a fool if you dont at least visit this resturant once while in the city."

"This was a wonderful experience! The view at R2L is simply unmatched by any other restaurant I have visited in the area. The food was simply amazing from the Truffle flat bread to the Lobster Mac N' Cheese and the exceptional Seafood Sampler. The desserts are a must have as the perfect way to end the meal. Simply put, you must go and experience this restaurant for yourself to bask in the awesomeness!"

"We went to R2L to celebrate my husbands birthday. We had heard very good reviews of the resturant but it was even better than we had thought. A table by the window and great food and wine. "Everything about our dinner at R2L was wonderful. We were seated, as requested, at a window seat, facing South Philadelphia. The view was amazing. The restaurant was aware that we were celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary and we were overwhelmed by their acknowledgment of it at every turn.
The food was delicious. From the newly added smoked salmon appetizer to the seasonally appropriate carrot gazpacho, from the start we knew that this was going to be a meal to remember. The short ribs/filet combo was perfectly cooked and the roasted lobster was creamy and perfectly seasoned."

"I have never been so well taken care of at a restaurant before. They made my anniversary so special I think I can forget it next year and not even get in trouble. Not only were we reserved the best table in the restaurant (perfect view of sunset over the city) we were immediately greeted with a champagne toast. Service was super attentive but not intrusive, I never wanted anything for more than a few seconds. The recommendations were all on point, if you don't get the lobster mac and cheese you are a fool. We definitely lingered a bit over dessert to enjoy our view but never once felt rushed, everyone at R2L went out of their way to make us feel like VIP's all night. I wish I had more space to say more great things about this place."

"I took my girlfriend here for our anniversary. It wasn't a particularly busy night but we got the royal treament! Upon arrival our server greeted us with 2 complimentary glasses of champagne. He was very attentive without being a bother to us. The food selection was fantastic. We were also greeted by other members of the staff throughout the night who helped with selecting an after-dinner drink and dessert. All selections were beautifully prepared included the dessert which had "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate on the plate. All this and I have neglected the most important part. We enjoyed a window seat as the sun set over the entire city of Philadelphia. Great for dinner or even just a few drinks, I highly recommended it!"

"We were seated right before sunset the rain cloulds parted to allow the setting sun to fill one side of the room while a rainbow filled the other. We had drinks and appetizers then posed for pictures. That was the moment!. I asked her to be my forever, she said yes and now the smile my never leave my face. After champagne provided by the house, we settled in for dinner. She had the Salmon, I had the Short Rib and Filet. The dinner was melt in your mouth good. I have to say the food on our first visit while good didn't meet expectations. This time expectations were surpassed! We ended the evening sharing the vanilla cake as recommended by the excellent staff member that served us. It would be difficult to top the night we had."
