Chef Richard Sandoval, who brought us his marriage of Latin-Asian flavors, Zengo has partnered with Chef Kazuhiro "Kaz" Okochi of Kaz Sushi Bistro to bring us Masa 14 - a new joint concept serving Latin and Asian small plates. ----
Now Masa 14 will be offering a Trio of Small Plates at $32/pp every Sunday from 5pm-Close, and Monday-Thursday 5pm-6:30pm. Price includes any three plates from our dinner or dessert menus plus one from: House White or Red Wine, Yuengling Draft, Strawberry Lemonade, or Margarita Tradicional. "I took my girlfriend here for Sunday brunch. It was $35 each for all you can eat and all you can drink. It was money well spent, as all the food was delicious and we had trouble stopping ourselves from eating everything on the menu. Not to mention the attending waitress who made sure our mimosas were always full! Highly recommend."

"First, if you're not a loud person this is a bad place to go if you plan on speaking to anyone more than 2ft away. Even the waitress had to ask me what I wanted about 5 times. The wait for food was a little longer than average, but not too bad, about 30 minutes. The food was really good, especially the Brussels sprouts, cod, and lumpia. Things quieted down after 8:30pm on a Sunday, but from 7-8:00 it was not a pleasant experience."

"I've eaten at Masa 14 about ten times, and this last visit confirmed the general trend I've experienced. The bar is very noisy, driven in part by the larger crowd that shows up for drinks in the newly-opened upstairs. Masa 14 is a great place to go for drinks - the upstairs area has a nice and lively atmosphere. But for a meal, the food quality has been trending down. I had a tuna flatbread with "just okay" tuna, the spicy chicken dish was uninteresting, but their sushi rolls were as delicious as ever. The server paid very good attention to our needs. But overall, the food just isn't what it once was."

"The menu at Masa 14 features small dishes with something to delight everyone in your party. Imagine my shock and awe to discover a dish with hijiki, my FAVORITE food the whole world over. Here the skilled chefs mix the sweet black seaweed with jicama to craft a slightly sweet sesame-spiked salad that made us both VERY HAPPY. As a vegetarian I found enough dishes to please my palate, though there could've been more creative substitutions explicitly offered on the menu. The ginger cauliflower was indeed ginger-y with a fresh snap that almost bit you back, and the serrano ham flatbread with goat cheese, canteloupe, and arugula was a refreshing cleanser toward the end of the meal. (We ordered the beast on the side.) Service was uber-slow."

"Went for dinner at happy hour, which features an interesting collection of small plates for $4 (we also ordered off of the regular menu) but the crowd overwhelmed the service and the kitchen forgot to deliver our black card and it took forever for us to be able to pay. Our server was very helpful with recommendations though and if you're going for a drink on the outdoor patio, you won't find a better vibe in Logan Circle."

"The food was awesome. My only gripe is the whole tapas mentality, I understand the concept of small plates for sharing but its really just a bloated way of inflating price without making it seem like you are. Dinner for 2 with a healthy assortment of plates and two cocktails each ran us 170 including tip. So not horrible for DC but still a lil inflated when some of the orders were rice heavy. The food was awesome, and as my girl likes to say I rarely give compliments....although that might be geared outside of the dining scene"

Our waitress completely abandoned us for about a half an hour- so much that in the middle of our tapas meal (where the food was supposed to come out in rounds) our table was completely bussed and our drinks were totally empty. "This experience was one for the books. The food came out very fast, hit, fresh and flavorful. The only problem I had with this was our server seemed to politely rush us after we had finished our meal. Lingering around after she left the check, then coming back before we had even put a card in the holder. This was very annoying as my friend and I were having an in depth conversation. "My friend from Mexico said; "The food is decent, but the drinks are excellent". I think I enjoyed the food more than he did, and the drinks the same. "finally made it here and really enjoyed the happy hour at the upstairs bar. the space is well laid out and a good crowd files in after work. we tried the shrimp & bulgogi fried rice, crispy chicken wings, crispy pork katsu and the fried okra. all were delicious, thoughtfully prepared and just the right size portion to share. i'll definitely be back!"

"The food was fine, but I wouldn't pay for it myself. Pork belly in the pork buns was really tough/chewy, which is fairly inexcusable for a restaurant of Masa 14's quality although it explains the less-than-glowing yelp rating. The special was absolutely overpriced for the four tiny riblets of meat (4 for $13?!?). The other two dishes we had were the cauliflower (awesome) and the bulgogi fried rice (forgettable), the only noteworthy thing being that our server only told us to avoid the red thai chili in the cauliflower dish. Upon biting into what we thought was a greenbean (actually a chopped green thai chili), our server rushed over a glass of Morroccan yogurt drink (he thought it was milk, which he then later charged to us? Yikes."

"The food was excellent. I have a few recommendations. 1. The service staff needs to be slightly more professional. The first server to approach the table was way too casual and smug. When we asked him how he was doing, I think he said something along the lines of, "my name is [name] and I'm doing well." While it's difficult to convey sarcasm in a typed review, it was just unprofessional. I cannot remember his name. Our actual server decided to squat at the table when taking the order. You guys are not a Ruby Tuesdays and shouldn't allow your servers to crouch. 2. While I understand that food is delivered when it is ready, as this is a family style restaurant, all 4 plates shouldn't be delivered at once. At least attempt to course the meal."

"The food is excellent, but it was brought to us (we sat at the bar) out of order and in oddly spaced increments. We ordered two servings of oysters, but only got one. After we mentioned this to our server, we were brought two more, for a total of three. The bartender was quite friendly and enhanced our overall very positive experience."

"We had a wonderful time at Masa 14 for brunch. I had high expectations considering how far in advance we had to make the reservation, but every food and drink we had was delicious. "It was my first visit to Masa 14 and it was a pretty good experience. The food was pretty good overall. We had the prix fixe brunch with unlimited drinks and tapas. The Masa mimosa is delicious. Food we loved: the mushroom flatbread, fried yucca (it was like being back in my home country), smoked salmon omelet and french toast - which is not on the menu, but ask your server and grits. The burgers and the steak we had were just ok.
The highlight for my table was our awesome server, Ivana. our drinks were never empty and our bellies were filled at the end. Plus, we camped in her section (sorry), and she was still very friendly . Plus a manager stopped by to check in on our experience which was a nice touch."

"Service was great. Manager stopped by twice to check in! Food was very good but not high end gastro, just good flavors. I like the small plates and it allowed us to try different tastes. The server was knowledgeable and gave us some good tips. Margharitas were great. Very comfortable for us to sit and drink. There was no push to get us out for the next seating. Very enjoyable evening and very satisfying. Total bill for 2 people; 3 plates, 5 mixed drinks and a beer and desert was $125 including tip. I thought it was reasonable considering the comfortable atmosphere and the quality dining experience. I will go again."

"Our first visit to Masa 14 in eight months revealed few changes. Although the original chef de cuisine has departed, the menu and the food preparation are pretty much the same as they have been since the restaurant first opened: a variety of satisfying, often cleverly conceived small plates combining Latin and Asian flavors. Service was friendly and prompt. I could have lived without the thumping sound track in the background, more suited to a dance club than a restaurant (and entirely out of sync with the sports programming shown on the big-screen bar TVs.)"

"Was very disappointed in the restaurant after seeing very good reviews for it. We ordered a number of dishes but were disappointed in the the chicken katsu which came out way overfried, the spicy shrimp flatbread which came out tasting fishy. Our waitress seemed annoyed that it took us a few visits to decide on our order but a friend was in town that we had not seen in a year, give us some time to catch up! Overall, sorely disappointed."
