"We really enjoyed Dos Perros! Great guacamole, fresh chips, delicious chile rellenos and chicken mole. Food was creative, yummy, and the portions were just right (enough to feel full, but not ridiculous like some Mexican places). I really appreciated that the perfect seasoning--I could taste the food, not just the sauce! Also, margaritas were yummy, and not too strong. Again, complex, good flavors. We went on a Sunday evening, so it wasn't noisy or crowded, and the service was pretty good. I had to ask for more water twice, but whatever--didn't bother me, and our server was nice and apologetic about it. So, go to Dos Perros if you like authentic, delicious Mexican food!"

"Being a New Yorker, I have eaten in several excellent restaurants. Dos Perros is not one of them. The best things here are their unusual and very tasty drinks ( I had the passion fruit drink and it was wonderful) and the salsa that comes with the chips (combination of sweet and spicy). The food was fine but nothing special. We were a party of 6, so tried a number of the entrees."

"Well prepared and consistent bar beverages and food. The noise level is "loud" not just "energetic" but in the small space, there is not much that you could do about that. This particular visit the servers seemed rushed and were not as attentive as they have been in the past and the busgirls were waiting near our table like hawks to clear for the next diner...maybe they could have been a little less obvious about that."

"Dos Perros is an upscale Mexican experience that mix the owner's two loves: rescuing dogs and cooking great food. Periodically, events will be held where all proceeds go to a humane or rescue society for animals.
They are known locally for their fresh, infused margaritas as well as their fine tequilas that pair excellent with a wide range of dishes on the menu.
The food ranges from tex-mex items such as tacos and burritos to more traditional items like empanadas and chorizo y poblanos. There is really something for every dietary need and every bank account.
I personally recommend the guacamole to go with the chips and salsa verde to start. Pair this with a mango-cayenne margarita and see where the night takes you. Happy eating!!"

"The food was just okay, the hostess was rude to us, we were seated in a dank basement on a sunny evening with a reservation, the drinks were good, and our waitress was nice. "In a town where you might more likely find fried green tomatoes and grits, this restaurant could well fit in Santa Fe.
Great margaritas and a great array of craft beers set us up to have one of the best chili rellenos ever and the chili stuffed with shrimp and corn surpassed that. Perfect stuffed chills!
This was a pleasant surprise and we thoroughly enjoy the spirited, diverse crowd."

"I went with a group of 8 people for a birthday party Saturday night. Our table was ready upon arrival. Chips and salsa already on the table and waters filled. Our server (Ben) could not have done a better job. It was busy to say the least that night but we wanted for nothing. Everyone seemed pleased with their meals. I ordered the chicken quesadilla ($12 appetizer) as my entrée which was more than enough as a meal and my boyfriend ordered the special of the evening, a strip steak ($23). The guacamole was very good and the Hot Guava Margaritas ($9.50) were outstanding. All and all it was a great experience. "I made a reservation for 10 people from New York who were in Durham for a conference. From beginning to end the management was incredibly responsive. ( The food was really outstanding; the service was well-paced and the server was friendly, attentive, related and professional all in one; and the prices were so reasonable. I received a call after from the manager who alerted me to the fact that I hadn't realized the gratuity had already been included on the bill (the price was so low (under $40 per person - apps, drinks, mains, desserts) it never occurred to me that the tip had already been factored in. I still added to the 18%, but it was a great night. Only wished they had a round table as it was hard to hear people at the other end."

"We've been to Dos Perros a few times now and have never been disappointed. The food is great, the staff is friendly and attentive but not constantly in your face. We always have a great time. We even showed up once late on a Friday without a reservation and they were really busy. Even so they managed to get us a couple seats at the bar. (Although, most recently I grabbed a reservation on Open Table before heading over there. It was much easier.) If you want Mexican food, this is definitely a place to try. Try the 'Hot Guava' it's amazing."

"We enjoyed our meal and our cocktails - Dos Perros has some great top-shelf tequilas. The spinach salad was delicious -- an ample serving perfect for sharing. We each ordered a different entree special (mahi mahi, pork cheeks) and, while they were tasty, they weren't awesome. In found the spicy seasoning lacked any subtlety & overpowered the fish, and the sauce on the pork tasted similar to beef stew. I wish DP would put more effort/creativity into sides for its more expensive entrees than beans and rice. The black beans and pinto beans had the same flavoring. The place was busy and after our waiter didn't reappear for a while, another server took our order. It was great to see that the servers help each other - good for the customer!"

"Food was fantastic. Perfect spot for creative but authentic (e.g. Lamb enchiladas) Mexican food. One of the best restaurants in the Triangle. A must on any trip to Durham. We were two dads and two kids (7&8). The eight year old described it as the best quesadilla he ever had and the dad said the same about his enchilada."

"First time customer (Feb 14), wrong time to be there for 1st time. Crowed, and noisy (expected), wait on food close to 25 minutes, but still, very good. Would recommend 1st time customers to not come on special days when booking is at its highest."

"The food was fine. The steak I ordered was very tender and delicious, but refried beans was the default side for the expensive entree.
It was a birthday dinner and they were kind enough to let us make a reservation for a large number of people. However, they never brought a slice of cake or anything out even though they openly knew it was a birthday dinner.
The wait staff was adequate but not very warm."

"It is one of my favorites to go to before events at DPAC. I come over from Wake Forest, and often have to drive 30 minutes to get to a good restaurant. I would, and have driven to Durham just to go to Dos Perros. It is definitely out of the box Latin, and soooo good."
