Sweet Grass Grill
A casual restaurant serving local and seasonal food. With relationships with about a half dozen local farms, the menu at Sweet Grass Grill varies week to week depending on the daily harvests. Expect seasonal soups and salads and a changing roster of entrees like their signature baby roast chicken and the freshest sustainably-raised fish. The bar, carved out of a single fallen oak tree from the Rockefeller Preserves, features a great cocktail menu, micro brews on draft and bottle, and many wines by the glass.

"We eat at Sweet Grass Grill whenever we are in Tarrytown, NY. It is a small, intimate restaurant and you feel transported to LA. It is great for, breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Their food is fresh, locally sustainable, organic from tofu, to eggs, to burgers, to fish, with Mimosa's too! From young to old frequent this restaurant. We love it and look forward to eating there! Whether local or tourist don't miss it."

"Love this restaurant, but disappointed in the service this time. It was my daughter's birthday and I felt terrible---we were ignored and had to ask for a server to order, to get a check. Took a long time to get our lunch and then they just brought a check without asking if we wanted dessert. They took off 20%, but that didn't make up for the dessert and candle to celebrate a birthday."

"The food was great---very imaginative---and the prices were extremely reasonable. We did find it rather noisy, though it is a bar & grill, and we dined on a Saturday night.

"The beer and cocktail selections are good and the menu is interesting. Service is very good. They had a lot of staff o hand so it was never a long wait to get another drink or have a plate cleared, etc. Everyone liked their entrees except my wife. I tasted it and didn't like it either. It was a vegetarian "shepard's pie". It tasted bland and like it just came out of the freezer. Other than that the cheese plate was decent, the salads were lovely, and the desserts were nice too."

"I had been to Sweet Grass before and find the food fresh
and delicious. Friday when we went before a show at the Music Hall it was just chaos. Service was slow
and the two side dishes we ordered never arrived. I was told by the server we were lucky to get our main
meal...I said I would really like the side dishes and she said it would be another "15 minutes" , which was
impossible in order to catch the show. We noticed other tables complaining as well. Too bad because
the food really is delicious but they need to get their act together....."

"Appetizers were great, polenta fries and mussels were both tasty. Both my dining companion and I had the entree special which was pork belly with ricotta risotto. The pork special was basically pork skin and pork fat with no actual meat. I'm not sure if we chose wrong or that the entree was a disaster. I'm willing to give them another try."

"We had to change our reservation from before a show at Tarrytown Music Theater to after and from 4 to 2 people, the restaurant was very accomadating to our request. We arrived directly after a show (9:30PM), the restaurant is about 1/2 a block from the theater. There were a few tables finishing up and the bar was mostly full. We ordered and were promptly served. The food and service was very good. Would recommend if in the area."

"We had a great meal at Sweetgrass. The people who work there, from the hostess to the servers to the guy who cleared our table, were friendly and respectful. Our server was particularly personable. We were asking him about the neighborhood and he was happy to share his perceptions of Tarrytown when he was not busy. We thought it would be fun to go there late at night sometime, just for a drink, as a change of pace from eating a meal there, since it was lively and the drinks looked good. We will definitely go there again and we will bring other members of the family as well as friends."

"We usually go to Sweet Grass for brunch or sit at the bar and have always had a great experience. We went for dinner however on a Saturday evening, and it was a terrible experience. After waiting for a significant amount of time, I had to flag down the waitress to finally take our order and then later, to order another round of drinks. We seemed to have two waitresses but neither was particularly attentive. The food was fine except for the pulled pork, which is usually a very good dish. It was too salty and had a weird after taste. The experience overall was very poor."

"Something malfunctioned with their communication systems. We had a confirmed opentable reservation that was reconfirmed the day of the luncheon. The hostess asked if we had reservations, she claimed we did not, started to seat us a a reserved table then said she could not seat us there but moved us to the other side of the room and after fussing and disagreeing and again insisting that we did not have a reservation. As she had claimed she had seating, I asked then why make she a big deal of it. This was not professionally or smoothly handled. Amateurs it appeared and not tactful or nice about this. The food was fine for a lunch. The atmosphere tolerant of decently behaved children. The manager never appeared to discuss as I had requested."

"The sweetgrass grill has good food but nothing I found terribly unique or different that I would want to go back for. It was a nice experience though. One thing that just about ruined the food was the temperature of resturant. It was cozy in the beginning but by the end of our meal, as the resturant emptied, it became unbarely hot. Great vegetarian/ vegan options. The mussels were great."

"While the table spacing is adequate, the shortness of the chair legs makes the dining experience extremely uncomfortable. If you are taller than 5'8" you will be forced to sit with your legs extended to try and find some measure of comfort. Think elementary school chairs!!!!
The food is adequate but with a limited number of entrees, to have one of the primary entrees sold out at 7:00PM is ridiculous.Food was not cooked to order necessitating returns to kitchen .
The entrees are not badly priced; but the salads are stunningly expensive! The explanation given for the premium expense, is organic grown produce. However, once you receive one of the salads, you cannot understand this explanation based on the quantity or components."

"Love the fresh farm to table concept. While a very healthy choice for diners, it is a little limited for folks who are following Paleo. The sides are good enough to eat as a meal by themselves so that sufficed for me. We ate here 2 days for lunch back to back while in town for a conference in Tarrytown. Service was very good, food was very flavorful and if you need to get out in a hurry, like we did, they can accomdate that too. :)"

"My friends and I went to Sweet Grass Grill to celebrate a birthday. We picked this spot because three of the four of us are vegetarians, and were pleased to find several vegetarian (and even vegan) options on the menu. An added bonus was that they use seasonal, local ingredients. I ordered the Grilled Vegetable Wellington, and it was delicious. The service was very good and the atmosphere was cozy. We unfortunately were not hungry enough for dessert, but we did have coffee. We were extremely happy that it was locally roasted (right across the street) Coffee Labs coffee, which is the best in Westchester! All in all, a wonderful meal."

"We have enjoyed Sweetgrass several times. This time, we reserved a 6:30pm table to have dinner before an 8:00pm show across the street. When we arrived - no table, thanks to a later reservation seated before we came in, some slow earlier diners, etc. It happens; what matters is how the staff deals with it, and they could not have been better. Anna stepped in, apologized, handed us drinks, gave us some options and had us at a table by 7:00, ready to order (we reviewed the menu while waiting). Zori - cheerful and quick, another star - took over. Salad and entrees arrived quickly but never felt rushed. Anna gently checked in to see that we were well cared for. And we had time for a leisurely dessert. We will be back."

"My husband and I checked out Sweet Grass Grill for brunch last Sunday morning. The room is fun, brightly painted. The heater was working overtime...too warm for us. My husband ordered the Farmers Breakfast. It was as described on the menu except all the items were smushed together in one bowl with the overly cooked poached egg on top. Not very attractive, but tasty and filling. I had pommes frites with poached egg on top. I, too, had to request another poached egg less well done."
