With its narrow yet spacious dining room, exposed brick walls, and banquette seating, Berimbau, a new addition to New York's Brazilian restaurant scene, boasts an antiquated yet urban atmosphere. What's more, their diverse menu of traditionally prepared Brazilian plates leaves patrons' palates pleased.
There is a dish to please every member of your party. Portions are hearty, and the cuisine is indicative of Berimbau's renowned chef's ability to blend both traditional Brazilian flavors with New York diners' sensibilities. The caipirinhas are made to perfection and are a must to have. A variety of flavors is offered at this brazilian hot spot. For an evocative dining experience in the West Village, give this New York Brazilian restaurant a go. Berimbau, aptly named for a native Brazilian instrument, will indeed leave you singing for more.
"This was my third visit to Berimbau; I love this restaurant and have introduced my family to it. I enjoy myself every time I go there. The food is always delicious. I try something different whenever I go there. The staff is so kind and attentive."

"Great alternative to the sissi-sissi Brazilian restaurants in NY, like Casa. This is one is down to earth and has real Brazilian food. Don't forget to ask about the slow-cooked rib, it's delicious. Can get busy on weekend nights."

"Great little Brazilian place, has a few outdoor tables, attentive service, good cocktails and delicious food. If you like steak, I highly recommend the a fraldinha! I am Portuguese and dined with a Brazilian, we both agreed the food was very authentic."

"After noticing entrees were being brought to tables before appetizers were finished, we asked if we could order our appetizers first. Although the waiter quite nicely said sure, we were harrassed every couple of mintues after that to order our entrees, because they were overbooked or because they were expecting huge crowds. When we finally said we'll order after we receiving our last apperizer, after rolling his eyes at us, a waiter quickly returned and dropped it on the table. We understand that restaurants need to turn their tables in order to make money, but there are subtle ways to do this. Plus, the entire time there, we saw plenty of tables available. Terrible service and the food was fine, nothing special. Will never go back."

"Berimbau Do Brasil was another open table find. We went because of the 1,000 points and the location but will be back again. Service was lovely and the menu very authentic. Seafood was fresh, vegetarian platters were lively and the caipirinhas were excellent, especially at the happy hour price. Definitely a repeat visit in our future."

"I loved this place. I am Brazilian and have been to a few Brazilian restaurants in NYC, but they all came up short of my expectations.
I was looking for a nice Brazilian restaurant to take a date to and through a few clicks on Google I read the reviews for Berimbau do Brasil, and I couldn't have made a better decision.
The place lacks a bar, which is a shame because I'd love to stop by for happy hours, yet thats probably one of its charms. The place is very small, which makes it special, and was a lovely place to take my date to and introduce him to Brazilian cooking.
The staff was attentive and polite and the food was delicious."

"Very well crafted authentic Brazilian staples. Great appetizers, drinks and entries including vegetarian, fish and beef and deserts. Up front is casual drinking and dining for a boisterous young drinking crowd and there is a small dining room in the back for intimate quiet dining. Highly recommended if you appreciate the casual authentic Brazilian dining."

"While the drinks were good, the food left much to be desired. The short rib special was overcooked and bland. The service was friendly but nothing more. Not worth the trip."

"Delicious food, reasonable prices, and very good service. Only problem is that restaurant is very small and cramped (kind of not anything you can do about this in this area, so you kind of just have to roll with it.)"

"Food was authentic and excellent, great service, really friendly waiters. Overall very enjoyable and delicious experience - especially given that we were a group of 6 people and the restaurant is relatively small. We will definitely go back."

"It's a very casual place to eat good food with a friend. I split the Pao de Queijo (cheese bread in a spherical shape) with my friend, and I liked how different it tasted! Very soft and moist, but good! The servers were very friendly. They recommended their best dishes and helped me pick an entree. The food was great! The portion size was pretty big though. I was so full after dinner that I did not have room for dessert, and I was only able to finish the whole entree because of how good the food was. I am definitely coming back again."

I'm a brazilian jiu-jitsu student from Renzo Gracie Academy and Am surronded of brazilians at the gym and was wondering where would be the best place for a brazilian to eat their food. Was in doubt when I found that instead of little Brazil street I was recomended to go to this small although cozy restaurant but when your masters tell you something about their own country you must take their advices and Im happy I did !! Such a great meal and well spent dollars. Amazing seafood dish, very good steak and delicious caipirinhas !!! Passion fruit mousse dessert is out of this world !! Will definitely be back Berimbau do Brasil ;)"

"Everything was decent about Berimbau, although it was a bit pricey for what it was. We ordered an appetizer that was listed as $6.95 on the menu, but on our check was $7.95... not a huge deal, but the menu should be kept up to date... especially one that is simply laminated paper. This appetizer took about 45 minutes to come out and although the waiter realized that we had never gotten it and apologized, it would have been nice if this had been comped. That is a long time to wait for an appetizer. While everything was decent at Berimbau, I think next time we will try a Brazilian restaurant in the Midtown West area, "Little Brazil"... in search of better prices and a more lively atmosphere."

"A great restaurant. Very small, intermit and cosy which makes it really enjoyable. You should book. The food was excellent. It's very Brazilian. We went with a group of 4 so we were able to share the food. Knowledgeable, great and friendly service. Prices are reasonable. Wine list small but suitable for all levels of connoisseurs."

"The service is wonderful and quick and friendly. Go for the salmon and the shrimps. Great music, great ambiance. A little small, but nice. It was freezing outside when we went, but the back outside part of the restaurant looks sweet. Enjoy. Abrigado'."

"This is a small restaurant and very down to earth which is why the experience as a whole was surprising and nice. Brazilian food was tasty - especially appetizers. The Caperinhas were delicious. I like the overall experience and the food was solid. I found it pricy but worth it."

"My husband and I went here with some friends for a fun dinner. Everyone's food was good, especially my moqueca and my friend's Feijoada. The portions of these two were also quite large. Caiparinhas were good and had real fruit juice, if you wanted. The volume of the music was a bit too loud, but other than that we had a good meal and would definitely go back."

"We stumbled upon Berimbau thanks to open table while in NYC for a short weekend trip. It was a great find! I would definitely recommend the seafood. I ordered the seafood stew and my friend ordered the salmon. Both were fresh and super flavorful. We had some appetizers too. The yucca fries were delicious. The Brazilian pastries and shrimp on bean cake appetizers were both just ok. Stick with seafood and it will be a great meal.
At first the atmosphere seemed a bit loud but once we settled in it was fun and delightful. Te meal was affordable and the service friendly and excellent. I'll be back!"
