Contemporary Vegetarian restaurant with a soothing but upbeat ambience, located in the historic Greenwich Village, serves spectacular world cuisine, organic wines and exciting and healthy beverages. Lunch specials daily.
"Gobo is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. I find the Greenwich Village location a bit more frenetic than the Upper East Site location. However, the food overwhelmingly makes up for the noise and the cramped table space."

"The food is great, the tables are terrifyingly close to one another. Despite some pretty slow service, the dinner was still wonderful thanks to the malaysian curry, seitan skewers, and spicy bean curd, among other tasty plates."

"Pineapple fried rice was way too oily. Seitan very good. Spinach wanton soup was mixed. Soup-awesome. Wontons - awesome. Loose spinach- un chewable. I had to spit it out. Glad I was with a friend."

"Food was good; however, service was a little off. Similar to a previous reviewer, it was cold in the restaurant. This is my daughter's favorite restaurant so we will be back."

"Delicious food, excellent service, great for people on special diets. My friend eats kosher and I am vegan and gluten-free, and we both were super happy with the food."

"My first time dining at Gobo was great! Although I am not a vegetarian, meat was not missed at all. Our server gave honest recommendations that did not disappoint, the best dish were the pine nut lettuce wraps. Attentive but not overbearing service, will definitely be back. I prefer Gobo over Pure Food & Wine and Cafe Blossom."

"Well, it was the night of Nemo Storm so, I think, the staff wanted to go home. In adition, I am not vegetarian, my wife is.
However, the staff was very nice and proffessional and I understand they wanted to go home because it was snowing and I enjojed the food as much as a non vegetarian can enjoy a vegetarian meal"

"Creative, delicious, and plenty. A little pricy but with the size of the portion it is easy to share. The pan seared dumplings, Vietnamese stir fry, and the Beijing seitan were favorites! I would recommend GOBO to my freinds even if they were not vegan or vegetarian."

"The food is delicious, varied and interesting. Pine nuts and veggies in lettuce leaves is fantastic. I have dined there twice and will return. Both times the food was delicious, and both times I did not enjoy the bottles of red wine i ordered. Next time I will ask for a taste first!"

"The menu was varied with almost everything on it that a vegan or vegetarian or gluten, dairy free diner could ask for. The food was served quickly with a smile. It all tasted very fresh, including the freshly pressed beet juice I had. The prices are very high but that's what you can expect to pay for fresh produce. I paid $30 for a juice, a small plate and a side dish.
Unfortunately the server was a bit condescending. I was a visitor to Greenwhich Village and my outfit wasn't perfect so that attitude was expected from most people there. However if I'm paying the very high prices for the food I expect more understanding."

"Delicious food. Very tasty soups, delicate appetizers, food is beautifully prepared. My only gripe was that it was cold. The weather outside was freezing, but there was no refuge in here. My suspicion was that they had a vent in the kitchen area (which is an open kitchen) that they kept turning on and off. Anyway I ended up eating with my coat on. We'll go back for sure -- on a warmer day!"

"Try not to sit too close the sizzling kitchen. You might end up smelling like the meal you just ordered. It's delicious..just didn't want to smell like Tofu when I leave."

"The lunch menu is quite a treat - a wide assortment of options, nice sized portions, priced moderately, especially for the quality. My nephew wants to try eating more veggies, so he opted for the eggplant w/basil dish & it was outstanding. Nice, attentive service. We were there at 4pm on a Saturday for an early dinner & it's a great time. The lunch menu is still in effect if you choose to order from it and it's nice and quiet....."
