The Winery Restaurant has been an icon among western Colorado restaurants for over 35 years. The restaurant makes its home in a 95 year old building that used to house a horse drawn fire station. A gas lamp lit, grapevine canopied alley frames this romantic location perfectly. The beautifully remodeled building contains flowered stain glass windows, barn wood and bricks.
Steve Thoms acquired the restaurant in late June of 2004 after taking a couple of years off from his previous restaurant. His mission at he Winery is simple: Show the restaurant and its patrons the attention that they deserve. Use only top quality ingredients, and establish The Winery as the premiere restaurant in the Grand Junction area.
The Winery provides a variety of steaks, chicken, pork and fresh seafood specials nightly in an atmosphere that can not be rivaled anywhere!
"My wife and I were celebrating our 56th anniversary. We were meet at the table by the owner and the waiter who explained that our dinner would be paid for by our children. Our son lives in Illinois and daughter lives in Delaware who had called ahead to surprise us by paying for the meal. We were also present with a card signed by the owner and all the employees. The card also included a special gift for us. We had a wonderful meal and a great atmosphere for our anniversary."

"Our party of 6 enjoyed every mouthful of our perfectly seasoned food. The macadamia nut crusted salmon was quite an experience and my vegetarian choice of marinated portable mushrooms on pasta was delicious. The stuffy, odd waiter wasn't needed and was quite out of place in this old Grand Junction classic. When my 19 year old son (whose birthday we were celebrating ) asked if he was restricted to a salad with his steak, the waiter replied, "That's what the menu says" with quite an attitude. He was neither jovial, welcoming or even pleasant to spend an evening with. If we come back we will most definitely request someone with a little personality and kind presence. Please advise him to lighten up a little!"

"The food portions were small, very overpriced, I had a glass of Scotch with dinner that was probably less than a shot glass that cost me $17, our waiter only told us of 1 dinner special, we overheard the waiter at the next table list all of the specials. We won't go back, or reccomend it to our friends."

"The ambiance is great--fairly quiet, cute decor, very nicely decorated. I had the Shrimp Tempura--wonderful!! My husband had the prime rib special, but was disappointed in the meat which was tough. This is the 2nd time he had prime rib there and it was not tender. Otherwise, a great evening and a real treat."

"Nice selection of menu items, the specials are worth paying attention to, service attentive but not pushy or rushed. Other than a very loud table of 4 the last time I was there, this is generally a restaurant where you can converse with those at your table easily."

"The food was just ok. The veal tournedos florentine were either escalopes or flattened loins; whatever, the dish was a great disappointment. Furthermore, I should have realized beforehand that the very extensive menu meant many ingredients might have to be frozen - and that's how they tasted. However the wine list was wonderful with some terrific Colorado wines. The service was as good as I had expected it to be."
