Restaurant Martin offers progressive American cuisine prepared by New Mexico's most noted and award winning Chef, Martin Rios at a most accessible price point. Restaurant Martin was a semi-finalist for the 2010 James Beard "Best New Restaurant in the US" and Chef Martin was a semi-finalist for the 2011 James Beard "Best Chef of the Southwest". "Arrived early and they were able to accommodate us (better than being late). They had Halibut on the menu and it was outstanding the way it was prepared/paired with the other flavors. My husband had the Spring Pea soup and raved about how good it was served chilled. His main course was outstanding as well, the special of the night which were scallops. We always have a very good meal at this restaurant. Love Martin's food."

"This meal was The Best during our week's stay...and we had several excellent meals. The chilled pea soup and tuna tartare were superb! The diver scallops with braised pork cheeks and the duck breast were beautifully presented and prepared. The dessert sorbet and ice cream were thankfully modest portions and delicious! This is a culinary experience not to be missed. Yes! We liked it!"

"A Santa Fe restaurant that we researched extensively before starting our trip. Prior reviews were very positive so we knew that we were likely in for a great experience. The evening weather was excellent so we opted for a table on the patio - very pleasant. Service was excellent throughout. Choice was very good in that we could have happily ordered most available menu items (and certainly the wine). We ordered Cervena venison and a Garden salad followed by Alaskan halibut and Berkshire pork tenderloin. As a finale we indulged ourselves with a (shared) Bittersweet chocolate truffle cake. Everything was well prepared, well presented and a delight to eat. A five star experience and we will return."

"Our experience last weekend was terrific. I am quite tired of pretentious restaurants that promise much and deliver little. Martin was the exact opposite. We found the staff quite competent and knowledgeable, the found perfectly cooked and gorgeously presented and the overall experience was excellent. We will be back again for certain. Martin clearly runs a tight ship with well trained people and as a chef is one of the best I've encountered in years - imaginative and dynamic, delivering taste delights that surprise and excite. This man can cook! I wish there were more places around like Martin. It is a true gem."

"The chef combines ingredients with imaginative flair and pulls off every dish. We started with the Venison appetizer which was incredibly tasty. The only element that didn't shine was the Blue Cheese Masa since it tasted rather bland. A higher percentage of blue cheese would have improved it. My GF had the Tasting of Colorado lamb and I the chicken breast along with lobster-stuffed thigh. Both dishes were excellent and the accompanying elements worked perfectly with the meat.
Service was very polite and efficient which is always a great combination with excellent dishes. The general ambience is a little low key, which is the only aspect that makes the dining experience a little less special than the quality of the cooking suggests."

"Wow I can't believe it took us this long to visit this wonderful gem of a restaurant. Expensive but so worth it, from the perfect service by Graciana to the food presentation to the taste! The chef even came out to give us a tour of every plate and all the special ingredients used. Patio dining is so cozy and we felt very spoiled from the whole experience. Definitely a come-back place! I love when a creative menu is also completely delectable!"

"My friend and I were visiting from out of town and ate at this restaurant the last night in town. Everything about the dinner was fabulous. The service was outstanding. We didn't feel rushed at all, our waiter took the time to explain the ingredients included in our dinner, and there was a real team approach by everyone on the staff. The food was excellent and the prices were reasonable for the quality of the food We split the tuna tartare as an appetizer, my friend had the yellow fin tuna entree and I had the halibut. I would definitely come to this restaurant again."

"The conciege at our hotel told us that the chef at Restaurant Martin has been nominated for a James Beard award for the Southwest - and we have to say that it is well deserved. This restaraunt has zoomed to the top of our list as a favorite in Santa Fe (next to the beloved and missed Max's Cafe). The food was inventive, tasty and the portions were just right. I had the tuna tartare appetizer, the duck with maple sauce entre and the "globe" for desert - loved every bite of each course. The service was wonderful and just a great overall experience. If you are going to Santa Fe you must have dinner at Restaurant Martin."

"Service and food were outstanding. Very interesting combinations of flavors, imaginative presentation without skimping on portion size. One of the very best meals we have had in Santa Fe.
Ambiance is not really up to the quality of the food - you could call it pedestrian, and the seating was not particularly comfortable. Tables are a bit crowded together, but the net is a spectacular place for its food."

"With an award-winning chef on would expect not to have to order the right thing to have a good meal. The chicken was wonderful but the cavallini with ricotta was a disaster. The pasta was small pointed cylinders of mushy pasta which was either under-cooked or over-cooked with an excessive rich sauce presumably- containing ricotta but not recognizable. There was supposed to be lobster in this but I did not recognize any."

"We had dinner here on a Friday night. I had the capatelli lobster. The pasta was overcooked and there were unidentifiable little squares in my meal. Neither my husband nor myself could figure out what it was. Plenty of lobster, though. It just doid not have good flavor. I was told it was a new dish. Drop it! especially at $30. Portions are very small. My husband had the pork tenderloin and received 2 , approx 1 1/2 in diameter pieces of tenderloin that he said was good, but again portions incredibly small. Now I know that a lot of restaurants serve their portions too large, but for this size the price should not be as much. We were certainly not stuffed, which may be good news for some, but I would not go there again. overinflated prices"

"The small house is quaint and cozy. Just about every table was occupied and service was a bit slow. The tables are close, which makes it a little noise. The food was quite good. We started with sauteed spinach as an appetizer. It was prepared just so. My wife has sauteed sea bass for her dinner. The fish was fresh and prepared so it was just cooked through. I loved the sauce - my wife wasn't so thrilled with so much sauce. I had the duck breast. It was skinless, so no crispy surface, which is important to me. The duck was cooked through, but still pink inside and moist and very tasty. The wine list offers plenty of choices, but in my estimation a little overpriced compared to some other of the finer restaurants in Santa Fe."

"We enjoy several trips to Santa Fe, each year. The dining scene there is dynamic and competitive. Our meal at Restaurant Martin was the most memorable of any dinner, anywhere in Santa Fe, including Luminaria, Geronimo, The Compound, and Santacafe.
The halibut was superb, not too much sauce, perfect spring vegetables with crunch and flavor. Tuna tartare in watermelon reduction was memorable. And thank you for the fairly reasonable prices on the wine list, and the availability of high quality half bottles. Service was spot-on, no hurry, informative,friendly,cordial and professional. Perfection."

"After hearing such fabulous comments about this restaurant I was disappointed with my experience. First, a guest seated before our arrival repeatedly interrupted our evening by attempting to make small talk. The guest appeared to be slightly intoxicated and no staff members addressed the issue; other patrons arrived and asked to be reseated. We had to ask twice to obtain a beverage. It took too long time to have our table cleared between courses. The entrees we ordered were overcooked. We also were expecting a 4-6 oz portion for our entree and received two small pieces that may have weighed 2 oz. Our final bill did not include our drinks. We notified the waiter and were charged full price. A discount would have been appreciated."

"As always, the best service we have in Santa Fe- Whitney was our very personable waiter. Were there for Saturday dinner ($140+ tip), had lamb, the vegetarian special and the valrhona chocolate dessert--- everything was perfect! So flavorful!! We went back the next day for Sunday brunch- mimosa, turkey/green chili/avocado/tomato sandwich and duck quesadillo- both big and delicious! We always eat there when we're in town."

"We have been coming to Santa Fe for the last 20 years almost exclusively to visit family. We always have taken the occasion to have a nice meal together and on this trip we decided to try Restaurant Martin both because of it's reputation and being within walking distance of my sister's house. The space itself was comfortable and looking at the garden area I wished we were eating a little later in the year so we could eat outdoors. The service was superb. Professional and cordial. Each of the four of us had a first and main course. The highlight of the meal was the Warm Cauliflower Flan which was much more than the name implies-good enough to be a main. "First class dining at Restaurant Martin. We were very impressed by the gracious, knowledgeable service and attention to detail. Venison appetizer was lovely, not heavy. Striped sea bass and Atlantic Salmon both exceptionally spiced and prepared. Duck was wonderful. Although a little off the main drag in Santa Fe, which might be a plus, couldn't think of a better place for a cozy dinner. Only drawback is the choice of abstract artwork; but that is a very personal taste."

"We almost passed the restaurant while we were looking for it. Backtracked and found it in a 40's Santa Fe bungalow. Very quaint and reminded me of my childhood growing up in Northern New Mexico. The decor was understated with clean lines. Our waitress, Graciela, was very gracious and knowledgeable with regards to the menu and wines. They were unfortunately, out of several of the wines that we first chose. In the end, Graciela recommended a nice Tempranillo. What makes this place stand out though is the food. From the incredible salads to the tastefully presented entrees and finally dessert. The food was exceptional. We'll be back."

"We love Restaurant Martin and never fail to have a thoroughly satisfying experience.
Chef Martin Rios is an artist who works in the medium of food, without ever tipping over into the ridiculous.
The entire staff always makes us feel welcome and valued, and the warm ambiance of this converted old Santa Fe home is perfect.
