JoeDoe is an 'Aggressive American' restaurant located in the East Village. Chef/Owner Joe Dobias uses farm fresh ingredients to highlight his whimsical and innovative menu. Signature cocktails are taken to new levels with JoeDoe's Prepared Beers created by Owner Jill Schulster. The dining room has 26 seats, adorned with 19th century antiques and old family photos. JoeDoe welcomes its guests with its open-air kitchen and soulful feel.
"If JoeDoe isn't the best under the radar restaurant in the Village I don't know what is. My wife and I often go for brunch (even though we no longer live in the neighborhood and it's a hike to get there), but I recently visited for dinner with some work colleagues and we had an equally excellent experience. The food is REALLY good and the 'prepared beers' are a very unique twist.
I can't recommend this place highly enough for locals looking to uncover a neighborhood gem."

"Very interesting new American cuisine, lots of textures and flavors. Only drawback is that the dining room is cramped, so when it gets crowded you're eating with your neighbors."

"This place is great, small menu and every single dish is unbelievable. Just ask the waiters to recommend something and you won't be disappointed. They even have a great brunch. GO THERE NOW !!!"

"We found this restaurant while looking for a place near a theatre on East Houston, and were pleasantly surprised. Very small place - opens at 6:15pm on Saturdays (?), so we were the first there. Interesting, eclectic menu, with very attentive service. We would certainly go back."

"Fresh entree's, amazing flavors, awesome drinks. The creativity and thought behind each item on the menu (both bar & food) is why we keep on coming back. There's always something new on the menu , all depending what fresh delivery they get that morning."

"I don't live in the neighborhood but I wish I did. JoeDoe is a wonderful little restaurant with a big heart. You can tell the chef puts a lot of genuine soul into his dishes. The service is friendly and everything I've tasted from start to finish has always been fantastic."

"Amazing dinner - we had a little bit of everything, and service was even better than the food if that is possible. I don't think there is a better place to eat in the city. How can you not love a place that has kick a-- tunes, a warm ambiance and food that is unique and delicious???
If you like eclectic, delicious food and a restaurant with amazing ambiance, this is the place for you!"

"Food was superb. This is a small neighborhood place with really good food, nice casual service. This is not fancy, this decor is not NY chic, but is a down home, relaxed and comfy, well run restaurant with exceptionally good food. My portions were plentiful, in fact split two appetizers with a friend (& each had soup), however my husband ordered a Special & his portion was a little small. He went to that french fries place nearby afterwards as he didn't feel full after his meal. He ordered a chile appetizer and then i think he ordered a kelbasa and perogie special. He doesn't normally overeat, so if he wasn't satisfied, i would say the portion might have been on the 'small side'."

"A cool, laid back place with interesting food and cocktails. There is always a combination on the menu that you haven't heard of, and it's always tasty. Highly recommended gem in the neighborhood."
