"Excellent place in the North End for pizza. Their pastas are also fantastic. Not anything unique or special about this place really. Just really really good italian food. The price is reasonable too. Yeah, there's great Italian all over the North End, but this place is consistently awesome. Also, they take reservations which is highly recommend for parties of 4 or more I'd say."

"We had a delicious meal at Antico Forno. My kids had pizza and calzones both of which were fantastic. My husband and I each had baked pasta dishes which were wonderful. Homemade pasta was perfect. The downside is the noise level. We were there on a busy Friday night but the noise from conversations made it difficult to hear the conversation at our own table. Still recommend based on the food but don't go if quiet conversation is your priority."

"Found it in a gluten free restaurant write up. Wish I had the appetite to try the gluten free pizza and pasta -- chose the pasta -- think it was the far diavolo. Terrific! My table mate also liked their dish. Service was very attentive. Good selection of wines by the glass. Of course what more can I say about the North End ambiance. Nice neighborhood restaurant."

"Overall our experience was excellent, the food, service, price & energetic ambience is perfect for celebrating. The ambience is vibrant and fun. For starters we ordered.Caprese salad, presentation, taste excellent & a second salad Focaccina con Caprino a really nice flavor pairing of mixed greens, goat cheese, and balsamic vinegarette. Each of the four of us ordered a different entree, Vitello Al Funghi E Carciofi - excellent, our party also enjoyed the Fettuccini Panna E Prosciutto, the Linguine Puttanesca and the linguine frutti Di Mare & enjoyed the flavors of all entrees, rating the food as excellent.Ending w/Antico Forno's signature dessert of Pizza Dolce was a homerun with my two boys, who love nutello. Highly reccomend for families."

"Great food, great service and reasonable prices. The validated parking is awesome too. It's close to lots of stuff as it is in the North End. We would definitely go there again. Restaurant is pretty loud, but it was lunchtime."

"Fantastic traditional Italian cuisine right in the heart of Boston's North End. Our family of 5 had Bruins tickets and the weather was beautiful. We were able to easily park our car, take a 5 minute walk to dinner, enjoy a great meal and walk to the Garden in under 10 minutes. The reservation was key as there were several fellow Bruins fans who didn't make a reservation who had to wait 10-15 minutes before being seated."

"This restaurant is my favorite among the all North End restaurants. Food is always high quality, tasty and the prices are more that affordable. It is perfect for family lunch, dinner, or just a glass of wine with grate appetizer."

"this place was voted best inexpensive italian in boston by boston magazine, so we thought we'd give it a try. it was fantastic! we were there for lunch, so our group all had pizzas, but they were fantastic. more italian style than american, hand made right in the dining area. would love to go back for dinner and try one of their pastas. definitely recommend if you're looking for a great italian meal in the sea of restaurants on the north end. a great experience in boston!"

"Hard to find parking in Boston's North End, but always a pilgrimage when we visit our daughter at BU. Food is always excellent (we are vegetarians), as is the service, but the noise level can be a little intense."

"Made a reservation for marathon weekend, which was needed as they were booked all night. We arrived a little early and were seated fairly quickly. Despite the busy night, we were taken care of very quickly and our food was well prepared. It was very refreshing to be served "normal" portions at an Italian restaurant rather than a super-sized meal. We did not linger after the meal, but this seems like it would be a very nice place to have a date night or go out with a group when the city isn't packed with runners."

"I expected more from Antico Forno. My friend and I went there to celebrate our birthdays and the food was definitely sub par. The bread tasted stale, and the chicken dish I ordered tasted bland. Some of the cocktails listed on the website weren't on the menu at the restaurant, like the Mojito. I ordered the Seasonal Sangria which was the only thing i liked. Even my Conoli didn't taste fresh. I'll say, if you want to go there for pizza, fine. Any other dish, go somewhere else."

"Fantastic food. For me being Celiac it was important to find a gluten free restaurant. This restaurant has the best gluten free pasta I have ever tasted. My wife ordered regular pasta (with seafood) & she said hers was the best she has had also. Would definitely go back on my next trip to Boston."

"The only complaint I have is that it was much much too load. We could not hear each other talk unless we were leaned way over the table, even then it was hard to have a conversation. You are seated just as close to the table next to you as you are to the people in your party. Maybe that is why the noise level is so high. Food was fantastic and we were literally in and out in 28mins. We even had two appetizers. I would recommend trying this restaurant on a weekday night, over a Friday or Sat night. Went on a Wednesday evening for our 1st visit and it was still very busy, but more enjoyable. Staff is wonderful, very attentive."

"My family and another were in town for the marathon this weekend and were able to get reservations here earlier in the week. We read mixed reviews of the restaurant that I feel were unfair. It's a GREAT place!! The food was fabulous. My husband got the osso bucco which he said was one of the best. I got the gnocchi and loved it. My daughter got the fettuccine with ham we all thought that was the complete winner. Our waitress was so nice and kind. Our food was received in a fair amount of time."

"The food was okay. However, I like to start my dining with a vodka martini, and was amazed that an establishment such as this did not have plain vodka. They should be able to offer a full bar menu."

"We have been to Antico Forno a number of times and they maintain a very consistent offering of their food, service and atmosphere. Traditional Italian dishes make up their menu and they always have interesting specials in addition. If you are looking for a restaurant to have a fabulous Italian meal in the midst of the North End of Boston (right on Salem Street!!), add Antico Forno to your list!"

"As always, the food was very good and the service was incomparable. Donna is simply the best waitress in the business. We travelled some 30 miles to enjoy Easter in Boston and we ALWAYS come to Antico Forno when in Boston. It is the ONLY restaurant we ever visit in the North End."

"Fair rating only because tables were placed far too close together. We were almost forced to converse with adjoining couples as if were were a foursome or sixsome. Nothing romantic about that as we were celebrating a special occasion. Will return when we can determine a less crowded time."

"Both entrees (secondi)that we ordered were delicious and the portions were large. While the menu didn't indicate which items were gluten free and English was not our server's native language, I didn't have any problems."

"I headed over to the North End for dinner on a recent stay in Boston and dined at Antico Forno. It was a delightful evening...great atmosphere and great food. Antico Forno is a bit noisy, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for a romantic dinner, but if if you're looking for excellent food at a reasonable price, it's great. I had the spinach salad and veal scallopini. Both were excellent. If I were not eating low-carb, I would have used a piece of bread to soak up the last of the sauce. YUM! The servers who waited on me were both native Italian, so I'm fairly certain the experience was authentic!"

"The food was fantastic. I ate every bite of my lasagna. It was the perfect portion. Not too much. My only complaints were that it was quite crowded and noisy. We were very close to the people at the next table and you had to speak loudly to talk to your date."

"Loved the way they served the calamari appetizer drizzled with sauce and accompanied by fresh salad greens. The veggie lasagna, fettuccine bolognese, and gnocchi were all very good, too. Place was packed and noisy when we arrived at 2 pm on a Sunday. Luckily, we had reservations and were given a nice table by the window. By 3 pm, it had cleared out some and was much quieter and very pleasant. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal and said they would happily return here.
We have eaten at several other Italian restaurants in the North End and the food at this one compares quite favorably. Depending on where you are seated, it might not be the best place for a couple----tables near the bar seemed cramped and especially noisy."

"If there is an automatic gratuity for certain party sizes it should be explained upon presentation of the bill. We felt taken advantage of after leaving and calculating that we actually tipped double the amount for our party of 6. Not a good feeling."
