Every restaurant has a story. The characters who shape the plot with their tastes in food and their notions of service, the audience who enjoy the story by coming to it again and again, and by bringing and telling their friends, the ambiance that sets the tone, and finally the dining: the beginning, middle, and the end of the story with all its delightful variations.
A restaurant story is a saga, a continuous telling and retelling that can be shaped by events like changing tastes in food and the ups and downs of the economy. An American Bistro has carefully sustained its reputation for high quality, imaginative cuisine while recognizing those changing tastes, and has created a "BAILOUT MENU" that acknowledges the belt-tightening of its customers:appetizer, entree, and dessert, prix fixe at $23.75.
"If you like exceptional service, good food, comfortable seating & moderate noise, this is your place. They recently changed their menu(4/13)and we were very pleased. Their entrees include chicken, pastas, steaks, good burger & meatloaf-a good range of choices to please everyone. Their wine selection is good and very reasonably priced. For all these reasons and reasonable prices, this is one of our favorite dining places overall."

"Good food, good service but both times we have dined at the American Bistro my friends and I were easily the youngest party in the room (we're all around 50)and by the time we finished dessert around 10:15 we were the last table in the entire place on a Saturday night, except for the relatively quiet bar. It's a little disconcerting to be in that position; we can't figure out why it's not more crowded!"

"We told our server we had limited time for lunch, and she complied by instantly bringing water and a delicious basket of fresh, hot bread to our table. Our orders went in and were out very quickly. Soup and wraps; very good. Will be back!"

"The food was good, but could have been better with some attention to detail. I had a shrimp appetizer which had frozen shrimp deep fried with a spicy sauce. It was preseneted with the fried shrimp laying in the sauce which basically just made the breading soggy. Too bad because the sauce was really good. The shrimp could have been better, and would have been better if they were servered in a manner where you could just dip them into the sauce.
Main course was the prok chop which was huge and cooked medium. It was good, but a little bit dry (maybe just the cut), but I liked it. The vegtables were cooked correctly which is not so easy to find - thay were fresh and crip."

"Once again we had a very pleasant dining experience. We (group of 5) were celebrating my mom's 97th birthday & mom was made to feel very special (which she is!) Other diners helped as well!Good food & service."

"My husband and I went here for a Valentine's Dinner, and everything was perfect. Booking through OpenTable was easy and very convenient. The food was fantastic, the service was prompt and attentive without being annoying, the hostess was charming. We observed some of the staff making a point to come and say hi to regular customers, and want to become regulars ourselves. A great experience for the price. Appetizer, drinks, entrees and dessert which were well worth the cost (moderate, under $100 for all, not including tip) for an educator and a stay at home mom. They even gave us chocolate covered strawberries for the occasion. Will definitely be coming back, as soon as we can find another sitter."
