"I love Joe's, their food is wonderful, the bottomless mimosa's on the weekends are fantastic and the staff are always pleasant.
My only ding on the rating for ambience comes from how incredibly warm it was inside the restaurant on Saturday afternoon. We were sweating at our window-side table. The place was packed and it was an un-seasonably hot day, but it was noticeably toasty in the restaurant - upping the air would have gone a long way for our comfort.
But as always, the food was amazing and I'd recommend Joe's highly."

"When we arrived, there was noone at the front desk and no one else waiting to be seated. After a surprising wait, the hostess walked by and told us, she would be with us in a minute.Then we were kept waiting again for a good five minutes. Once we were seated, my companion was told that his first three choices were not available any longer. Then the waiter brought him the incorrect main course. And only offered a free glass of wine in exchange. We have been going to joes since it opened. The service was not on par with such a great food. Really disappointing and unclassy behavior will certainly make us question returning."

"We are big fans of Joe's, however, this time was (hopefully) an outlier. We went Sunday for brunch. We had a 1PM reservation, but even though we showed up a few minute early, were not seated until 1:25. The host did apologize and provide complimentary drinks while we waited. The service started strong - drinks, appetizers, regular water refills...Then, the wheels came off. After ordering our entrees, we waited nearly an hour for our food. The waitress was highly inefficient - she did not look around her section to see if anything was needed, so we either had to get up or wait for her to decide to come to our table for any request. We love Joe's and want it to do well - we'll give it another chance."

"The reason I keep coming back to Joe's is because I am never disappointed. Fresh, unique, delicious food always. And the lunch deal is the best in town, so much so, that I am almost afraid to share that secret. I brought a friend who had never eaten there before, and she can't wait to return. I consider Joe's my "special" place to go to celebrate birthdays, major events, and special nurturing days for myself... and choose Joe's because I know it will always be special."

"Server was not very friendly. Did what she needed to do: greet, bring food, and then bring the check. Nothing more, nothing less. The support staff seemed friendlier and more welcoming than the server.
Food was okay. It tasted fine but not as impressive or appetizing as it looked on the menu. I had the crab hash due to the glowing reviews on Yelp, but I did not find it to be spectacular.
We were seated outside in the patio. It was nice, but the space seemed a bit tight. Lots of tables within close proximity of each other."

"kitchen rather slow despite the earl;y hour and sparse attendance
her dish arrived hot, mine was tepid, must have sat at the pass for a while...room temp sirloin, flavorful, but cold and not rare as requested but med-rare
fr onion soup seriously starved of cheese as well..octopus salad app very good but with a pool of oil in the bottom of the bowl
all in all a nice enough place, but with slipping standards and an apparent lack of attention to detail....feels tired and uninspired"

"We love Joe's! Found it back when Lakers were playing at the Forum. My husband is a chef and we are restaurant people, true foodies. The prices make it a special event only place however, especially if you have wine count on $80 per person. The food is beautiful an has never disappointed, the servers are knowledgable and friendly. Worth it!"

"Joe's is an institution in Venice for a good reason. Great space, both indoors & on the patio; creative, beautiful & delicious food; attentive service & Joe himself, who is loved by all.
Sit in the room for good people-watching, good art & warm lighting. Sit on the patio for a bit lower noise level & a slightly more casual feel. There's a lovely, small bar in the front, too.
Something for everyone on the menu while keeping the selection tight enough that mediocrity doesn't creep in.
On this Wednesday night, the restaurant was full at 7:45 so the two waiters were a bit busy, but still attentive & personable.

"We went in for the Easter Brunch. Our reservation was for 2:00 pm but we got there earlier. We were seated at 2:15 pm. The brunch stared well with but then we had to wait for over 30 minutes for the main course. The food was far worse than I had ever eaten at Joe's before. It is a shame to see a restaurant like Joe's go down the hill in itsa service and food."

"We have been patronizing Joe's for many years and the food has always been outstanding. But, this was the first time we used a $20 Open Table check, which, based on past experience, must have accounted for our waiter's attitude and indifference. I use to feel that Joe's was MY neighborhood restaurant. That wasn't the feeling I and my party got last Saturday night. I will not be in a big rush to return."

"It was our first time trying Joe's. Everyone was friendly and the restaurant atmosphere was cozy and with a modern flair. Really enjoyed the brunch food and hope to try having dinner there. The only negative would be the difficulty in finding a parking spot. We would highly recommend this place for the great food."

"There was only one element that was missing from experience, which was timeliness. It took way too long for each course to come out. We only had a party of 3 at our table, and for 3 courses our dinner took over 2.5 hours. The food was amazing - presentation, flavors, portions, etc. But it seemed as though the kitchen was short-staffed."
