Post 390 puts a contemporary twist on seasonally inspired dishes that reflect Chef Eric Brennan’s passion for fresh ingredients and unforgettable flavors.
On the first floor is the Tavern: a casual but sophisticated menu and atmosphere, with a 25-seat bar and high top and banquette seating area, warmed by a beautiful four-sided fireplace. A massive wrought iron staircase connects the energy of the first floor with the Dining Room on the second floor.
Here, guests can have a more refined dining experience, and enjoy our large, open kitchen, wine displays, two private dining rooms, additional fireside dining and views of landmarks like Copley Place, Trinity Church and the Hancock Tower.
Located in the Clarendon Building, on the corner of Clarendon and Stuart Streets at the site of the former Back Bay Post Office Annex, Post 390 is perfectly situated within walking distance of the South End and Back Bay neighborhoods.

"Had heard good things but was never on top of my list. The seafood was fantastic. Also had the watermelon salad which I would recommend. Impressed with the wine list and the knowledge and service provided by the sommelier. Wait service was just average and the noise level was high with tables tooclosetogether but overall we recommend Post 390 for the food and wine. Bar scene is good to if you are into that."

"We were very pleased with our experience at Post 390. We ate there before theater so we didn't have much time. We let the restaurant know that we only had a little over an hour to eat, and we were very happy because we were able to each order appetizers and entrées and eat comfortably during the allotted time. The crab and watermelon appetizer was refreshing and delicious! My husband also enjoyed his tuna appetizer. The chicken was savory and well prepared. The swordfish was also excellent! My friend was very pleased with the steak frites. Our server understood our needs, and we were able to enjoy a relaxing meal despite the time constraints. We definitely recommend this restaurant, and we will return in the future."

"We arrived at 6:15 for a 7pm reservation, expecting to wait in the bar. We were seated immeadiately at an upstairs window table and enjoyed cocktails and appetizers before ordering dinner. The service was great. We weren't rushed. The food was delicious and interesting. The room filled as the evening progressed but the noise level never hindered our conversation. I would gladly dine there again."

"It is a big place with a lot of people and a lot going on but it wasn't overwhelming or overly difficult to continue a conversation. The food was very good and our group of six had five different meals, highlighting the variety of the menu. The wine list is good and it's easy to pick out a nice bottle from most of the well known regions."

"Food was great, drinks were great, atmosphere nice but typical.
My two complaints:
First, the aisles were so narrow where I was seated that every single person who walked by my chair hit it - including hostesses, servers, staff, etc. Disturbing.
Second, our server was EXTREMELY slow - he'd check in, and if there was any pause at our table, he'd quickly leave. We'd call out to him saying we were ready to order or needed another drink or were ready for the check or that he could take the card right now, we've been here too long... and somehow, he was already out of earshot. He was great when he was at the table, I just wish there was a little more of a priority spent on that time so we didn't feel like he was always so anxious to disappea"

"We went here for our pre-marathon dinner and I was the one running, I was happy with my pasta dish, did the job I ran my fastest marathon to date :-), my family all raved about how good their meals were... someone had the smoked whole fish, very impressive presentation. My husband and a few others had the flank steak and raved about it. The best part was our service, so impressed, our waiter Matt spent a lot of time making sure my 19month old daughter was happy, she was on her best behavior and I think its bc the waiter was really going out of his way to entertain her."

"This is the first negative review I have ever posted on opentable or any site, but I feel this is warranted. The service was as bad as I've seen - I had barely started eating my salad and the server brings my entree - anyone knows that you don't do that. You wait until I'm close to being done before even placing the food order. He can back two more times before getting it right. They left the salad plate sitting there while I ate my entree. And my friend got her entree while I was eating my salad. Not impressive and surely not worth the $60 I spent. I could have had many more delicious meals in Boston for less than that. I will never return, and hope you won't go either."

"Food very good but the loud and ludicrous music made dinner tedious and annoying. Inexperienced amateurs wouldn't have chosen the ridiculous soundtrack that wailed out of the speakers.
Always liked the inventive, local influence at Harvest, so was optimistic for good food here at Post 390. It was, bearing the stamp of chef Eric Brennan. Visually pleasant. I don't think we could have been given a better table: on the second floor, near the corner looking out onto the Old South Church, beautiful in the evening sunset. Service trying hard, doing pretty well. But if you ever wondered where all those hits of the 70s/80s, two for one offers ended up, look no further. Horrific. So disjointed with food quality it was surreal."

"Understaffed and flawed. Drink fell in my wife's lap as the waitress was handing it to her. Any waitress could make this mistake, but the way it was handled was less than gracious . One would think after such an error that the staff would redouble their efforts to make up for this error. But service was slow and stilted and we were charged for the replacement drink when it finally arrived. Have enjoyed this restaurant before, but sorely disappointed by this experience."

"I went to Post 390 for dinner one night during restaurant week and was overall very pleased with the experience. Post 390 offered the option to add a wine pairing to each course, which was superbly done, as to be expected, and really made the meal. The service was fantastic, our server had great drink recommendation for my boyfriend who was looking for a new beer, and had a sense of humor to boot. We always a great time when we take the trip to Post 390, it's well worth every penny."

"I visited Post 390 to have a 3-courses lunch from Boston Restaurant Week. The servers at restaurant were not well-educated to handle orders from tables. Not only did I wait a few minutes for a cup of coffee, the server did not kindly server all dishes I ordered. The restaurant needs to have more employee training so that customers would not become irritated."

"Very credible food, nice Back Bay view. The downstairs fireplace is the highlight.
The service played a shell game with the sparkling water bottles which became an interruption, along with many check in to see if we were ready to order. Over-touch is a rare service problem, but that's why I dig the service to average.
I'd go back. Its a good place, but not yet a gem."

"We went to celebrate our birthdays during restaurant week. The food was quite good - not extraordinary. Everything tasted good, but there weren't any real surprises, or flavor combinations that made you say, "Wow!" The drinks were outstanding, I will say. My wife had a Provencal Gimlet with a fresh thyme sprig that really elevated the cocktail. Dessert was disappointing, very run of the mill. The service was excellent, though it felt a little forced, like they were all under the gun . But the team worked really well together and the timing of everything was excellent. The dining room is attractive, and it's fun to see the open kitchen, but the music was kind of awful, and a little pushy - made it feel more like a bar."

"I did recommend Post 390 for lunch. BEWARE,though - you need more than an hour. The downstairs is really pretty with a fireplace in the center of the room. We were seated on the second floor - which was nice and bright with the natural sunlight coming through the windows. Service was slow, but our server was knowledgeable about the menu and once he did come over, he never rushed us with our questions. The food was great! The lobster bisque was amazing and not heavy like most bisques; my eggplant panini with olive tapenade was refreshing."

"We visited Post 390 during restaurant week but were disappointed in the food. Every dish was just "okay." The tomato and lobster bisque had an overwhelming cumin flavor (which did not suit the dish at all) and the lobster was overcooked and chewy. The fish entree was delicious and flaky and tender but the potatoes and spinach underneath were inedible because they were drowning in a heavy sauce of butter and cream. The desserts were equally lackluster. We enjoyed the wine pairings that were selected with each dish, but the service was so rushed that we barely had time to finish savoring a glass of wine when they were pushing the next plate and next glass of wine on us. Too bad."

"Went for lunch with friends for restaurant week, and unlike other experiences at different restaurants, Post 390 had a great number of entrees to choose from. Service was prompt and excellent. They were very good about bringing all the dishes out at the same time (for a party of five). Drink glasses were never empty. Overall a great lunch. Will be back."

"Wonderful place. The service was excellent and the food was wonderful. I never would have thought of having a fried quail salad. My only complaint was that the restaurant week menu posted online listed a different dessert that I was VERY excited for and was quite disappointed in the change. The chocolate dessert was still good but not what I was hoping for so I felt a bit cheated. The decor was wonderful and it was great that me and my date were seated a bit away from most of the patrons."
