Charles Phan's latest addition comes to Pacific Heights. OTD serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
Weekend brunch offers favorite selections from both the breakfast and lunch menus as well as exciting new dishes by chef Anne Alvero. 20 walk-in counter seats are also available on a first-come basis.
"I have eaten at OTD several times over the years. The fare is similar to it's sister the Slanted Door. Generally, I found the starters/appetizers/soups/noodle dishes to be excellent, while the entrees and vegetable dishes were just so, so. In fact the next time I visit I'm just sticking with the top half of the menu."

"Love this restaurant and have gone many times for casual lunch. But the noise...Go slightly off time so the place is not full. If it is , it is very hard to be heard. It would be completely off my list if the food wasn't so good."

"As always, the food was excellent. However, our server was quite inattentive. He seemed to hang around the communal table and did not check in with us during the meal."

"We love OTD restaurant. The food is always good and consistent. The service is good and professional. The restaurant is cleaned. The host Valerie is always nice and helpful. We like to go to OTD every three weeks either for lunch or dinner. The brunch is unique. It is closed to our house and we can walk to OTD. Love it."

"If the staff hadn't been so pushy to turn over our table despite three empty tables in the restaurant then I would have left a fan. Instead I felt that I was expected to take my coffee and dessert and go 'Out the Door'. There are plenty of customer friendly establishments near Fillmore that understand the concept of dining.
If this was my first time at this restaurant I may not have been as offended. Yet my last dining experience there was similar enough that Out the Door will never earn my vote for neighborhood gem."

"They continue to delight my palate. At first I was disappointed that my favorite salad had been taken off the menu, but quickly got over it when my chicken salad with peanuts and cabbage arrived. Sorry I can't remember what it was called. It was fantastic."

"Meant to go to the Slanting Door but this restaurant was very convivial and the menu seems the same. The standard of cooking was excellent. Being used to very popular budget Vietnamese food in London, it was interesting to taste some high end cuisine with Vietnamese influences. Everything was very flavoursome, light and non- greasy. The service was friendly and efficient. Overall a good dining experience."

"It was our anniversary...we were running late as the movie let out later than expected, and the hostess called to verify if she should hold our table. Truly unexpected, and made our evening experience that much better! The salmon was prepared just right. The staff were so pleasant. We had a wonderful time!"

"The food is delicious and the service is very good, but they should put cushions on the benches. They are all metallic, and therefore very cold, and not too comfortable. Thank you."

"I'm not sure the food is much better than your basic neighborhood joint, and double the price. And what I really can't stand: the metal benches are freezing cold so you need to sit on a coat or sweater to be comfortable. It's convenient for me, so I end up eating there once in a while, but surprised how popular it is."

"My husband and I eat here regularly and appreciate the consistent good food and good service. However one minor issue. Recently I was dining with a guest who had not previously been to OTD. We were disturbed several times by other diners getting to and from their seats to the point where we had to shield our glasses on the table to prevent them being knocked over. It's not the end of the world but I would have given the restaurant higher marks if we had not been interrupted several times."
