"While the steak was very good, the caesar salad was limp and not crisp as it used to be. Also the mashed potatoes were very watery. The hostess refused to seat us in an area because they claimed they had a large party going there. Two hours later that area was still empty and not rearranged for any large party. The Palm is a much better alternative for steaks than Ruths Chris and I used to really like the place."

"The evening was special and started out fantastic. Our server and her assistant were EXTREMELY attentive and all was well until the large party showed up. It was the night before Mother's day and the large party was either an employee or one who had once worked there as MANY employees stopped by the table of ten plus baby to say Hi. Once they showed up, our server and assistant all but ignored us. When we did see her, she was short and hurried. We had to flag down the assistant to get more water which is never a problem at Ruth's on a normal evening. In short, it started out as a normal excellent Ruth's Chris experience, but ended on a very bad note and left us feeling jipped!"

"I've been going to Ruth's Chris for many years - it has been, up until my last 2 visits, a place to dine for special occasions.
This last experience was dreadful! The server came by a few time and asked 'on the run' "everything delicious?" not stopping long enough to get a response. Indeed, everything was NOT delicious. Service was slow; my lab chops were cooked medium-well when I ordered them medium rare. They were removed and replaced in a timely fashion, cooked the way I ordered them. Someone came by and poured ice water into glasses that contained Pellegrino sparking water. When we called the error to his attention, he quickly returned with a new bottle and fresh glasses .... the error should not have occurred."

"The steaks just don't get better than Ruth Chris. The service was great. We were kind of packed into a corner, about 2 feet from another couple. I was surprised no one seemed to dress up. I went far to casual, from my wife's request, and we were about the best dressed people there. A guy came in a T-Shirt! and another in shorts! The $12 mixed drink was worth about $4."

"The food as always was outstanding. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. It may have been because of the location of this Ruth's Chris, but I was really disappointed in the extremely California Casual attire worn by many of the diners and that it's permitted by the restaurant management. Shorts, flip flops, sweatshirts, flat brim ball caps etc have their place, but it's not in a place where you're dropping $300 on a dinner for 2 on a special occasion."

"The service was sub par the night we went. Usually it is better. They sat us at a table that was in an awkware place. The wall was diaganal behind me and if I used my bread plate I'd hit my elbow against the wall. So we moved. The waiter was not very attentive, kept us waiting so long we asked for the check before he had a chance to offer dessert.
But, the food was, as always, amazing! I also tried the pear mint julep. It was very strong, and I liked the flair of the metal cup."

"We were very excited for our dining experience, but were disappointed overall. First, the noise level made it difficult to talk. For the food, the lobster bisque was excellent, along with the shrimp, lobster tail and scallop. All four of us ordered filet mignon done medium. Two orders were perfect. We were surprised when the server questioned that the other two steaks were not done properly and asked us to show him by cutting into the steaks again. Well-done is definitely not medium. Ultimately, the steaks wee done correctly, but the delay and attitude put a damper on the evening."

"This restaurant never disappoints. Filet was grilled to perfection, shrimp was not over done, caesar salad was nice and crisp, cheesecake delicious. Martini's are iced cold, wine list is not bad. Now for the bit of bad news. Do not sit in Darius's section. The bus boy had more personality and attention for our table. Tipped him instead. Leave your children at home! If they are under 13, hire a sitter. I left mine at home. Other thank that, if you are able to walk, save the $8.00 valet charge and self park. Treat yourself with a cocktail instead."

"We requested a specific 2007 bottle of wine as advertised on the menu. When the server brought it to the table it was a 2008, so we selected our second choice. However I noticed that the foil had already been removed from the original bottle. The server returned to our table to tell us that they were out of stock of our second choice, so we had to go for the original bottle. We were then charged the same price for the younger wine as what was advertised for the 2007.
I ordered a bottled water. Was not asked if I wanted a small or large bottle. When the 1 litre bottle arrived it was already open.
Our wine glasses were never refilled at any stage during the meal.
The ribeye was a little short on flavour but tender"

"We were greeted by two charming hostesses and escorted to our waiting table. We had to change our reservation but it was graciously accommodated although the restaurant was quite full.
Our service was attentive, friendly and highly professional. When we requested details of the menu everything was explained completely. Each of us enjoyed our perfectly prepared meal. We all ordered from the special 3-course meal of the day and enjoyed every last morsel! Now we know why it is the favorite restaurant of so many of our friends and family members. We will surely return as soon as possible!"

"We had a pleasurable experience at Ruth's. However, we live in Thousand Oaks and should have stayed local choosing Mastro's or Holdrens (even better) . We discarded those choices in favor of Ruth's because my husband has been wanting to try the place for years. I was first disappointed by the decor: I prefer "old school", men's-club decor in a steakhouse, not the type I see in every other fine dining place. The food was delish; though honestly I don't doubt if you toss enough butter and cheese on any dish it will taste great. Server was very nice; though we had to ask to have our water and wine re-filled. Price as expected: $230 for 4. (with corkage)"

"Ruth's Chris never disappoints. The food is consistently perfect and cocktails are poured liberally. After disappointing recent turns at Fleming's (loud and average food), Morton's (deserted and skimpy bar pours) and worst of all Monty's (low-quality food, seedy atmosphere and a rude manager at Woodland Hills) I was delighted to return to Ruth's Chris for the dineLA promo. Menu offerings were spot on; the staff was friendly and attentive. This is where I'm going for steaks."
