"All food was inundated with butter. I had clearly explained I was on a strict diet and still they brought me my steak with a mountain of butter. When I complained, they said they would take it back and burn it off on the grill!!!!
We also had to return my daughter's (3 Year old) steak because it was too spicy for her. I thought she was exaggerating, so I tasted. That thing had so much pepper that it was spicy even for me~and I am Mexican!!!!
To top it off: Our server forgot to issue our two plates of dessert, and brought out the check before he did. When we mentioned it to him, he seemed annoyed.
In short, we were really disappointed and regretted choosing this place for our Mother's Day Celebration."

"Our favorite restaurant in North County - wonderful filet / sweet potato pecan crusted casserole / bread and atmosphere.
As veterans, we knew where not to seat [ upstairs too dark; back room too lonely; center of restaurant too busy ] and were delighted to be granted our Open Table request for a 4 top in low traffic.
The service was concerned but not very good : forgot my salad, served across me twice, no bread refresh... The circulating Manager inquired of everyone around us but US!
The young woman at the reception desk was helpful, delightful, and made a wonderful start to our delicious dinner!
PS: Don't take noisy kid(s) - would be a disaster for all!"

"This was my husband and I first time at Ruth Chris and we were blown away from the first step through the door. Our waiter was amazing and was very thorough with the menu and wine selection.
This was our first night away form the kids in over a year and although the menu style is a la carte, it's true when they say "you get what you pay for". I don't think my husband and I ever had a better cut of meat that cut like room temperature butter. We will definitely be back."

"Unhealthy, overpriced food. The beef is delicious it's true, but we are all becoming familiar with the costs--both to our health and the environment--of corn fed beef. Funny that they are proud of it! The rest of the food is dismal, with poor, calorie laden treatments for seafood, veggies, all of the sides. There are entire tables of overweight families eating nothing but meat and potatoes, all for over $100 per person. If you want to spend a similar amount and eat truly creative, healthy and fresh food, head half a mile to the coast at AR Valentien at the Lodge at Torrey Pines or a mile north to Market Restaurant."

"My husband, daughter and I went to Ruth's on Friday night to celebrate all our birthdays and were treated like royalty by Jon, our waiter, as well as by the entire staff! The spicy lobster appetizer is to die for! I had the Ruth's chop salad - my favorite salad of all times and I highly recommend it. Our steaks (filets) were cooked to perfection and the desserts were marvelous - cheesecake and cream brule. Fabulous night!!! A great big shout out to Bubba and Darina in the bar :)"

"Frequented RC in Del Mr for many years, but this night was not up to par. While the steak was good, the chopped salad seemed half the normal size. Service was sufficient, but nothing special as it usually is. On other visits the manager stops by. Not this time.
One thing occurred we've never seen anywhere. My wife ordered tea and they brought it already in the cup, not offering a choice. Since she wanted decaf they had to replace what they brought, never commenting. When she asked what types they had, she was told one caffeinated and one decaf. That's it. Hop this isn't the beginning of cost citting and a downward slide. Next time Donovan's where the service is far better."

"Nothing was negative about this place! from the water to dessert to service. Had classics menu with filet/shrimp, cream spinach, mushrooms, salad with fruit & nuts, and chocolate/peanut butter cake with berries! We ate at 3pm on Friday, the day, after Valentine's Day and had the dining room and servers to ourselves. I teased my husband that I rented the whole place just for the 2 of us. Oh yes, even the coffee is delicious, as well as the hot bread. What a sumptuous meal and I forgot to get the dessert as take-out and ate too much again! Tip to self, next time take the dessert home to eat the next day."

"Food was fantastic and our waitress was awesome. One of my pet peaves is drink refill time in a restaurant, again not at the fault of our website waitress but the guy who's sole responsibility is to fill water cups was deathly slow."

"We had a reservation but still ended up waiting at least 30 minutes in a bar so crowded, we were constantly dodging bodies. Once we were seated on the upper level, it quieted down significantly. It was a little disappointing for a special occasion but the hostess mentioned it was slightly less busy than they normally are on a Saturday evening."

"Always a great meal and excellent service to accompany the food. The restaurant fills up fast on Fridays and the weekends, and, except for the bar area, there’s not much waiting room. Reservations for those days are highly recommended."

"I took my wife out on a pre-valentine's dinner as we would not have been together that day in February on account of travel. I was anticipating an experience like my last twenty five years, and perhaps 50 visits nationwide to Ruth Chris's establishment. this was the quinessential "Steakhouse", ie. they KNOW how to prepare a premium quality steak. Well, sorry to say, after three try's, where they kept getting it wrong, we walked out. An icon has died in front of my eyes. What a disgrace ! absolutely shameful !Time to find a REAL steakhouse..:(("

"We love Ruth Chris and it is usually our "go to " for birthday celebrations. Sadly this trip did NOT live up to our expectations or previous experiences. No one acknowledged or even asked if we were celebrating anything special. ( I added a message on the reservation) We asked twice for the hot bread everyone around us was enjoying before we received it. We ordered the special 4-course meal that included a choice of salad and asked for the house chopped salad as a substitute---which we have done several times and paid a nominal $2-3 extra. Upon receiving our bill we were charged the full $9 price for each chopped salad....I believe this was excessive. They did, however, give my grandson a scoop of vanilla ice cream at no charge."

"I have dined here several times in the past and it seems like the food quality has gone down. We took my parents here for their first time this weekend because they had always wanted to try it and my Dad's comment was that it was ok, but he'd had just as good a filet at Black Angus (very disappionting considering that we could have eaten at Black Angus for half the price). We had the filet and lobster combination. While I think my steak was fine, the lobster was not good. It was hard and rubbery. Everything else was fine, but I just don't think it's worth the price."

"My family always knows we are going to have a delicious dinner at Ruth Chris. The food is always hot and fresh. Their chicken is worth trying as it's delicious, even though it's a steak house. Their Ahi appetizer was delicious also and their desserts are fabulous."
