"The food is always fantastic. The service is warm but when they are full it sometimes is hard to get the server's attention. Lunch is a particularly great deal-- thali plates!"

"On the Upper West Side just below Columbia, there is lots of competition for the best Indian restaurant in the neighborhood. This is the local winner!"

"Very tasty meal and nice service. The shrimp main course was especially good; the shrimp were cooked perfectly and seasoned very well. The lamb saagwalla was also quite good."

"While waiting for four other friends we ordered grilled scallops cooked in rosemary and tomato chutney and spinach soup. By the time the the starters arrived the whole group was at the table. I shared the scallops with my friends. Everyone loved it. One even said the gravy was extraordinary. I had grilled lamb chops cooked on special herbs and spices, It was not spicy but very delicious. someone else had Chilean sea bass which was wonderfully prepared. The atmosphere was moderately quiet, at times noisy. The service was great. We paired the food with a Santa Emma Merlot Reserve which everyone loved. The place is near Symphony Space which we went after dinner for a nice Afro-Latin Jazz concert by Arturo O'Farril ."

"Very good food with a wide variety of preparations. Our waiter was attentive but not intrusive. The servings are generous. Four people shared four main courses with two types of bread and two servings of rice. No appetizers and no desserts and we left food on the table. Although Aangan has been here in my neighborhood for a long time, it had never before occurred to me to eat there. My loss!"

"My husband and I went here for lunch during the week and found it to be a great value. High quality and delicious food with attentive but not intrusive service. We will definitely be back. The saag paneer is not to be missed."

"After reading the other reviews, I was expecting a delicious meal. The food was good but not as tasty as I had hoped. I ordered Murgh (chicken) Tikka Masala and it wasn't as flavorful as I've had at other Indian restaurants. The garlic naan was very good and probably the highlight of the meal. The orange rice pudding for dessert was too sweet. The restaurant itself is a nice, cozy place and tastefully decorated."

"I dined with my husband and 2 kids (3 & 6 years old) around 5pm on a Thursday (we like to avoid the crowds when we're with the kids). The space is small but beautifully decorated. We ate vegetarian meals except for the kids who had chicken samosas (hard not to eat them)! They don't have a kids menu but between appetizers and the naan, it was enough for them. We ordered the cauliflower appetizer which was delicious! My husband ordered the spinach dal and I had the cottage cheese. Both were excellent...very savory and mouth-watering.What we didn't like: they don't have coffee."
