In 1984, Rosa Mexicano set a new standard for Mexican cuisine when it first opened on the Upper East Side of New York City. Having served legions of fans for 25 years, we are thrilled to bring Rosa Mexicano's signature brand of authentic Mexican cooking in a relaxed, stylish setting to the West Coast for the first time. The 205-seat restaurant debuts at L.A. Live, a 5.6 million-square-foot sports and entertainment development in the heart of the revitalized downtown area, alongside many of the city's greatest attractions, including the Staples Center and Nokia Theatre. Bathed in our signature vibrant hues, this location features our award-winning guacamole en molcajete, our signature frozen pomegranate margaritas, modern architectural elements, flexible private dining options and comfortable outdoor patio seating--a perfect environment to introduce you to the festive atmosphere and delicious cuisine of Rosa Mexicano.
"The service was fantastic. They cared, they tried, and made us feel important. Too bad the food was well below expectation. We were a group of 6. One person loved her meal. The appetizer (guacamole - in two different spice intensities) was also great. But the rest was disappointing. Mine was the budín. It was so over cooked that I almost cracked a filling on the outside edges. Another stated their chicken was tough. The shrimp was also disliked. I am sad. I had wanted to like this place. It's in a fun area near USC. I suppose I could give it another try, but its not cheap. So it's hard to justify risking the higher investment ."

"We went here before a Kings game recently and we we're not disappointed. The table side made guacamole was really excellent. The drinks were really in small little glassed (we had the skinny Margarita's) and were really overpriced for what you got. They did have a tasting flight for different tequila's that was really the best deal. For $15.00 you got 3 pretty good sized tastings...enough to get a good buzz going! I had the chicken enchiladas and while tasty they were barely warm. I never understand that! Our server was really good though. The prices here are on the high side so be prepared for that. You must get the "donuts" for dessert...to die for!"

"Decent gourmet mexican food, but service was poor even though not very crowded. The server's priority seemed to be filling our water glasses but didn't want to take our drink order until we asked to order drinks."

"the drink service was very slow. The guacamole was the highlight of the meal. The main course was bland and small proportioned. The ambiance was good, the only way I'd go back would be to go to the bar and have guacamole and a shot of good tequilla."

"The Guacamole is made fresh from a cart that comes to your table and it was absolutely delicious I couldn't figure out why a NYC Mexican place was opening in LA we have a great amount of authentic places to choose from but this place did well. The food I ordered wasn't as good as the guacamole but I will return and try other items on the menu just for the oppotunity to have some more of their featured dish"

"Food was fantastic! Kids came with, the chicken taco and quesadilla were overly seasoned and the kids didn't finish them. The La Suprema margarita was a bit to sweet.. But their Mole and rice was fabulous!"

"Very good, upscale Mexican restaurant. If you're looking for your basic taco/enchilada combo, probably not your place. But if you want unique entrees such as duck tacos with orange salsa, then you'll enjoy the experience. Excellent margaritas and their guacamole is made fresh table side. Located at LA Live next to Staples Center, great place to meet for pre-concert or pre-game meal."

"special margaritas are very small and over priced. No guacamole available for one person. Skillet meal came out very rare instead of medium. When we asked for a milder salsa they brought us a big bowl of pico de Gallo and then tried to charge us for it. Although some of the food is good and the drinks are great, this place is way over priced. I recommend only for happy hour"

"Good Place to dine before Staples Center Event. Food presentation was fine. Food arrived too quickly. Servers need to learn about pacing meal even when there isn't a large crowd. $ value was fine."

"My first experience with Rosa Mexicano was Saturday, March 30. A friend and I were here for the Lalah Hathaway concert at Club Nokia. What a wonderful dining experience we had. The interior design is unbelievable. The service was outstanding. Our server was attentive, polite, humorous and professional. We found out he was from the same small Mexican town as my friend's mother. The food was authentic and downright delicious. My favorite part was watching the making of the guacamole. I seriously and highly recommend Rosa Mexicano."

"sevice was great and so was the food. Only dissapointment was they running out of the entrees we actually wanted and had to settled for an average plate, we should of got a discount for not having what we realy wanted, especially after paying 13 dollars for a drink."

"We were greeted right away with excellent service. The tableside guacamole is a must. Entrees had a gourmet presentation and taste to them, excellent verde sauce, brown & wild rice served on the side along with beans, not your standard tacos and enchiladas."

"Had a great time. The service at Rosa Mexicano is excellent. We had a table of 5 and three people serving our table. Don't miss the excellent Margaritas and Guacamole. The food is a bit spicy so for those who don't love spicy food, be sure to inquire!"

"Entrees and appetizers were very good. My compliments to the chef. In my opinion meals were to pricey for the category and quality. Meat plates are charged as steak cut price. that is not reasonable. There is not a variety of wine selection. it is definetely great for brunch / lunch but i will not recommend it for dinner. Definetely not a romantic place to it"

"At first arriving we waited for our waiter to take our order for quite a awhile. Our table was so small and wobbly, and cramped up between two other tables. We were not romanticly dining as I had planned it for our Valentine Dinner. We were not happy with our food either. The portions were way too small and was just "ordinary" as far as mexican food goes and way over priced. We were also looking forward to "live music" as the web site had stated, but there was none by the time we began to dine at around 9 pm. I was told by an employee that our parking would be validated, but was not. The parking attendant said we needed a VIP pass, so we paid full parking. Overall very disappointed."

"The visit started off good because we were the only group in the room. As soon as the room got busier, we were forgotten. It wasn't really the server's fault because he had no help. We were never offered the guacamole appetizer. The worker just came over assuming we ordered it. We waited about 20 minutes to order our food. While we were eating our appetizers, the bus boy came over and took our appetizer plates without even asking if we were finished. I try not to be too critical about nights like these but I had high expectations about this place. At no point did anyone apologize for the long wait, and we made things pretty clear to our server that we were not happy. Sorry, but I will probably not come back for awhile - Rick"

"This was our third time at Rosa's; it was perfect for a pre-Laker game meal. We were able to sit at 5:15pm, relax and enjoy some good margaritas and appetizers, then a leisurely meal, and walk to the Staples Center. A small mistake by bartender who poured bourbon instead of rum into a "rum & coke" order, but personally walked the replacement to the table with apologies. Nice touch. Waitress didn't push us out; busboys kept the table clean, and the food was quite tasty. Shortribs were delicious, mole enchiladas were a bit over drenched in sauce and lukewarm, fish tacos were pretty dainty as a main meal for a 6'3" man, enchilada pie was flavorful and not too over-filling. Though, still a good alternative to the status quo."
