Sushi, sashimi, tempura and other traditional Japanese favorites are joined by new signature dishes such as halibut wrapped with uni, calamari with pasta, Kobe beef in bamboo leaf, and Kobe-style filet with foie gras.
"Hoped it would be better ... its not even as good as Katsu-Ya. It is overpriced and maybe just not hitting on all cylinders. Can't do this when there is so much compensation for sushi."

"The fish is ALWAYS fresh!! This is by far the best sushi restaurant in the Valley. Order from the daily specials board and you will not be disappointed. Service is good and the wait staff are very knowledgeable. Great for a special occasion."

"3rd time in, each as satisfying as the last. A gem (pearl) of a spot on the busy Ventura restaurant row which now starts in San Diego and ends in downtown Ventura it seems. There are more restaurants in LA county now we vie for first with 10 Eastern states. Kiwami is fusion/Japanese with a good base for such restaurants (fresh fish). We had several(9) small plates corresponding to a Japanese tapas.Their Toro was not as fat as I would have liked, but ok. Japanese poki and a tart tasting (the French or Spanish would call it cAnd the Tahitians poisson cru. Here we just settle for Ceviche - very tasty. We were sated but thoroughly satisfied by meals end. Pricing higher end but less than you would see in many American cities. ICHIBAN!"

"Kiwami will not disappoint you. Food and service are commensurate with a restaurant owned by Chef Katsuya. Normally go to Katsu-ya in Encino, but wanted to change it up a bit. They have some of the items that made Katsu-ya popular like spicy tuna crispy rice, but have many different items on their menu like the albacore crab tempura roll. Make sure to try the house made soy sauce. Went there for lunch on my birthday and they wouldn't let me leave without having dessert so I ordered the lychee sorbet. The presentation and flavor were both top notch."

"The sushi never disappoints. My kids love going here because the staff is friendly. But it's not a noisy kid place so make sure your little ones behave. Happy hour is outstanding when you leave the kids at home"

"The food is always great at Kiwami. And Friday night was no exception. The restaurant is run very well and the service was terrific. It's a regular go-to place!"

"Our second time here (first time was much better) but this recent visit was awful. The service was exceptional from the valet to the hostess, to our waiter, however the food was just bland and over loaded with salt!"

"I just love Kiwami. It can be a tad expensive, but the money is worth it. Possibly the best sushi in LA! The quality of fish is unreal. My only problem with Kiwami, is that even with a reservation, you will probably wait 10 minutes or so for a table."

"Great food always. Unfortunately this time they were out of Oysters that I love in their oyster-shooters. The service was not as good as it has been this time as they were seeemingly understaffed. A bit pricey but the quality true to any Katsuya-Group restaurant!"

"The food is excellent, but the service is excellent also! Great to find a restaurant that prides itself in excellent service! This was my 1st time at Kiwami, but it certainly will not be the last. Blue Fin Tuna - the best I've had in several years."

"This is about the 6th time i have been there and its very consistently excellent. The sushi is expensive but the quality of the fish and the preparation is as good as anywhere in the city. The service is always very nice, and professional and they made some good suggestions for sake. Overall, its always worth the money to go there for the quality of the food and the different specials they have make it new each time. I will be back again soon."
