"While Bonanno has some great dining concepts, Mizuna seems to be mesmerized by its own hype. The food is good, but it's not stellar. And for the tender-loving way the staff describes the dishes, and for the cost of the entrees, I just wanted there to be something that made me go "Wow!" Instead, we left feeling ho-hum and slightly unfulfilled. I can imagine that if you want to splurge and do the prix fixe menus, that might stack up to higher foodie standards. Otherwise, for the same ticket price, I'd go for Fruition where the flavors work together beautifully and the vibe is elegantly unassuming, rather than "wannabe.""

"Based on the server's description of a veal tenderloin you can cut with a fork, that became my choice. It was difficult to cut with a knife and was a tasteless offering. That being said, my husband's salmon was perfectly cooked and delicious."

"For such a highly rated place we were terribly disappointed. Ordered a couple appetizers, one of which our server forgot to order. It took almost 30 minutes just to get our first course. The lobster mac and cheese, btw tasted like a glorified box of Kraft :( As for the entrees, mine was good, the vegetarian dish, but my boyfriends was extremely rich. Overall, for the price, service, and overall atmosphere, we just weren't impressed and I don't think we will go back."

"I had the Foi Gras for an appetizer and it was a piece of fried fat on a plate.
I also had the razor clam appie and it was a lot of bacon bits with a very small
amount of clam. Didn't really taste the clam.
Thankfully my husband ordered the scallops which we've had before and
they were very good.
We usually count this as one of our favorite restaurants but not so much

"I made the reservation with the specific notation that we were celebrating my wife's birthday and they did not acknowledge our celebration during our meal. When I mentioned this as we left the Director of Operation only handed me his card to call the next time we came to dinner. Only problem with this sorry appology is that the will NOT be a next time!"

Oddly, after looking around at other patrons, the place felt like a convention for older dentists. Not young or hip or even very modern. Very staid and dry. Very quiet, except for the waiter loudly talking about his conceal carry permit and mocking the other staff. (It was the guy in the Elvis Costello glasses with the bowtie, let him know he's not THAT interesting)."

"We have dined here a number of times. This time we tried the 5 course menu with wine pairing and were disappointed. Although the food was still wonderful, the wine wasn't to our liking. We prefer reds and our waiter said the sommelier would be over to discuss. He never came by before serving us. We ended up with two ports over the five courses and we don't like port. We suggest ordering a $100 bottle of wine versus $100 for very little wine (you get far less than 2+ glasses each) you may not care for."

"My husband and I dined at Mizuna for his 33rd birthday. The restaurant was prepared with a special happy birthday note and a glass of cava for Nathan. Our waiter, Megan, was very helpful and her recommendations did not disappoint. The lobster mac n cheese was fantastic. I enjoyed the varied, but tight menu. Trying new things like rabbit was really fun. Other restaurants often have larger menus, but sacrifice the quality of the dish in order to provide more choices. I have noticed that, typically, the smaller the menu, the better the quality of the food. The portions of the 5-course experience were perfect. I also was impressed that Mizuna allowed us the full menu from which to choose for the 5 courses."

"Mizuna was good but not great. It was by far the most expensive restuarant in Denver we have been to. With that said, table 6 and fruition are a bit less expensive and the food was better there than at Mizuna. The duo of beef plate was not very impressive but the scallops were delicious. Our experience was great though. From the very friendly hostess to the excellent waiter we were well taken care of."

"The reason why I just COULD NOT give Mizuna 4 stars was due to the desert. It was described as a moist poppy seed cake and it was dry, hard and stale - completely disappointing and unacceptable for that matter. In addition, the endive salad was not very good - VERY one dimensional. Go for the other salad options instead. The salmon, beef duo and mac n cheese were superb."

"Excellent! We split the Artic Char appetizer. It was light and delicious. My veal tenderloin entree was special. The sides were perfect and the veal was tender, well flavored and prepared exactly to my liking. My spouse's Pan Seared Red Snapper was also beautifully done. We have dined at Luca d'Italia and Osteria Marco (and they were great). Mizuna is now my favorite after the experience there yesterday."

"Mizuna is one of our favorite restaurants in Denver. We've dined there innumerable times. But this particular time there was a lapse in service somewhere from the kitchen to serving. The startes were excellent. But two out of 3 entres were brought to the table luck warm. Not what one expects. The meals were reheated and redressed, according to our waiter, and not remade which is typical and expected. There was no apology nor acknowledgement by the staff when the food or bill was delivered. The staff is experienced and we know our waiter well. I was extremely disappointed and hope that my comments made that night will ensure that no other patron experiences our disappointment."

"We had an excellent dinner. Mac and cheese was as good as reported. The New York Strip that we each had was exceptional with the beets, onions and potatoes. The highlight was the peanut butter and chocolate dessert.
The staff was very attentive, however I was disappointed in our server. I listened to the explanations of food items given by other servers and ours was a full standard below. We were given no explanation of the Pre Fixe Dinners. We might have tried these, if there had been an explanation. I had to request coffee twice and when it arrived, the coffee had been spilt in the saucer, which I had to ask another server to take care of.
Overall a very good experience."

"The food was very good, but I thought quite expensive and portions were small. For example, the endive salad, which cost $10, included only 6 endive leaves - and nothing else. The veal, which, again was very good included about 3-4 small pieces of veal tenderloin and two small pieces of veal cheek. It was $39. Waiters very nice and attentive, atmosphere nice and very low noise - altho we were there late, so perhaps is noisier earlier when more crowded. Overall, I just felt the portion sizes were out of sync with the prices."

"It was ridiculous that I got a reservation online and the only table that I could get was at 5:15 and when we got there NO ONE else was there and the restaurant was nowhere near even a quarter full when we left. Decent food, but if you are not a regular, you may not get the best service. The waiter was condescending and the food did not live up the the over abundant praise. Scallops were overdone. Meh. I've had much better."
