Abboccato, meaning “a touch of sweetness,” will feature a menu that reflects the true appetites of Italy. Owned by The Livanos Family, Abboccato will provide a taste and experience similar to that of authentic restaurants in Italy. Anyone looking for that unique Italian flavor will find themselves at home when dining at Abboccato.
The 75-seat restaurant serves true and time-honored Italian recipes elevated through the talent and techniques of executive chef Jim Botsacos, and features a multitude of Italian products and ingredients.
Abboccato offers a selection of Chiccetti, small plates for sharing, which encourage a lively dining experience. Plentiful pasta fill out the Primi Piatti options and fresh Artic Char, Lamb Chops, Whole Branzino and even Veal Sweetbreads make up the savory Secondi Piatti list.
In addition to the savory Italian cuisine, Abboccato’s dessert menu allows diners to end their meal as elegantly as they started it.
"Our daughter recently graduated from the Pratt Institute and we chose to have our celebration dinner at Abboccato. The ambience, food and service were extraordinary. The Italian cuisine was tasty and truly had that "home made" flavor. The desserts were equally excellent and best of all the fare was reasonably priced. We would highly recommend Abboccato for any event.

"Italian restaurant with very good food in the Blakely Hotel, across the street from City Center and convenient to Carnegie Hall. Prices are a bit high, but the $38 prix fixe is a good deal."

"Our reservation was for 6 PM and our taxi was caught in traffic. I called Abbocato and explained the situation while emphasizing that I had tickets for 7 PM at "Encores" across the street. I was assured by the young lady that the restaurant would insure that we arrived in time. Upon entering the restaurant, we were taken to our preferred seats and the waiter, who had been notified of our problem, recommended specific dishes that we coud enjoy and still be on time for the opening curtain. We ate, indeed enjoyed the food and were seated just before seven pm for a lovely show."

"This restaurant is a gem across the street from New York City Center. The food is fabulous, the waiters' suggestion for wine in our price range was smooth and delicious, and the desserts were excellent. Can't wait to go back again & again!"

"Our second time for dinner at Abboccato. We found this gem of an authentic Italian Trattoria by accident as we were walking down the street, went in, enjoyed dinner and went back for the second time. Food is truly excellent, very nicely appointed restaurant."

"I eat at Abboccato with my elderly mother several times a year and they are always very accommodating. They seat us in the front, and both the food and the service is always very good. It is a restaurant we rely upon and choose every time we are in the area."

"We were five people going to City Center and all enjoyed our dinners. Butternut squash soup, although sweeter than the usual, was top-notch. Service was attentive, but they did not remind us about time, and it was a very good thing the theater was just across the street."

"Our BFF had heart surgery five months ago. We picked Abboccato because it was 100 steps to get to the theater for our Encore series. We were pleasantly surprised once we got there. The food is very good and the restaurant is comfortable. Since I made the reservation, and based it upon convenience, I asked my friends their opinions. They said that they would like to eat there again on future outings although our friend will be able to walk more than the 100 steps. Our original premise was to make the trip easy for a handicapped friend and we found a good place to eat."

"This was our first time at Abboccato and we went primarily because it is just opposite the City Center. But we were pleasantly surprised at the variety and quality of the food. A lovely shared first course was a platter of toasted pita with three types of spreads, ricotta, eggplant and a hummus. Tuna was delicious with unusual accompaniments, and grilled salmon and grouper were also enjoyed. Apple strudel Italian style was a lovely dessert, as was green apple sorbet and a pistachio sundae in an edible chocolate cup. The only drawback was the noisy collection at the bar in the front."

"The food was great, though prior reviews were not stellar. We found the wait staff a little off their game, but they were friendly. The grilled octopus was fabulous, as were the meatballs and beet salad. Pastas were homemade and fresh, and excellent presentations of each sort (we had the parpardelle and cannollini); the veal saltambocca was a bit soggy (by the time I tried it) but very tasty. I definitely recommend this sleepy restaurant very highly (great prices for the offering) and great progeny (by the owners of Milos and Oceana). Go there! Ciao!"

"Had a fantastic lunch before matinee show. I am full-blooded italian from South Philadelphia and the food was authentic, the sauce was the best and the ravioli, what can I say...I thought my grandmother was in the kitchen. And I am just getting started...I HIGHLY recommend this eatery. If you are looking for premiuim italian food, this is the place."

"We went to this restaurant and we were going to City Center for matinee and it's right across the street. The place is lovely with a bar area on the left as you enter. My friends were delayed and the staff was most solicitous while I waited. We ordered lunch and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and presentation. Two of us had chicken salad - not like one I've ever had before - very creative ingredients and the chicken was moist and cooked perfectly. The other guest had salmon tartar something and she said it got better and better with each bite! I highly recommend the restaurant and I would definitely return when in the area - for theatre or just a delicious meal!!!"

"What a pleasant surprise. We loved our dinner. We shared the arancini, the beet salad with orange and pistachios and a grilled octopus. All 3 items with sublime. For entrees we had the spaghetti Amatriciana and the free range chicken with sweet peppers and olives. Both were exceptional. For dessert we shared the pistachio sundae. Service was attentive and our waitress was very sweet. We can't wait to go back!"

"It was my first visit to Abboccato prompted by its being a sister restaurant to Molyvos, which is a long time favorite. We were not disappointed; the excellent food-an interesting 'Prix Fix', seating and service set the stage for a great evening at City Center's 'La Perichole'. Make sure you order Grandmother's meatballs for an appetizer!"

"Nestled in the basement is a real gem for Italian dining in NYC. We were in town for a show and were staying at the London Hotel, about 1 block away. We wanted good authentic Italian food as we went to Italy last summer and really enjoyed it. We got a bottle of Italian Cabernet, great appetizer of brunette and meatballs, great bread with lovely olive oil for dipping. Pasta with beets and very nice lamb followed, topped it off with cappuccino and some gelato."

"Attractive, comfortable and quiet with a great location. Two pecial combinations and a fixed price option were clearly explained by the waitress and reasonably priced. My no salt requirement was taken seriously, not always the case. The wine list is excellent, with a top-notch regional selection of Italian reds and whites. But the beer selection is too limited, with no good brown e.g. The dressing and robust and perfectly grilled scallop made up for the skimpy argula in my salad appetizer and the three ciabatta offering and octopus were truly outstanding. Among the entres, the pastas were the best and the meat sauces and raviollis were delicately spiced and satisying. All my guests insisted on a return visit and a broader sample."

"What a nice find in an otherwise "off" street. I was looking for a place for dinner before a show and this was nice because it was close to the theater and it was excellent food with a nice calm environment on a Saturday night. I didnt feel rushed and the waiter asked if we were theater bound so he managed our time well. The portions were a nice size and although I should not have eaten it all it was too good to leave on the plate! The surprise after dinner dessert wine was a pleasnat end to the visit."

"First with a friend over drinks and appetizer, then by ourselves in a dinner for two, Abboccato delivered again! This is a favorite spot of ours in midtown, near all the theaters (they'll make sure you make the show) and serving high quality, delicious food at reasonable rates. We hadbruschetta to start and a fine choice of wines by the glass. (Their happy hour is 3-5). When our friend left and we were seated at dinner, we couldn't help but notice the fine, unobtrusive service. Our appetizer, shared, was grilled asparagus - the freshest and most flavorful. Or main course was We went on to "fussily alla napoletana," or squid with fusilli and tomato, garlic and basil. Delicious gelato followed and we particularly recommend the vanill"

"It's a mixed bag here. Place is very convenient to City Center and other venues and the food is good, at least what I had. Others in my party were not as impressed.
It's a mixed bag here as the location is quite convenient especially as it across the street for City Center and we were going to a performance there the night we ate at this restaurant. Also the food, I thought, was very good but very overpriced for what it was; $25 for a non-generous pasta dish and salads for $15! We waited too long for the main course and I felt that we were being upsold and the shoddy service was punishment for not "biting" on higher ticket items or wine. I'd skip it another time."

"My wife and I went for dinner before a show, our first time at Abboccato. After several trips to Italy we found a restruant as close as you can get in Abboccato. Not the most extensive menue but you still find yourself taking too much time trying to decide on your dinner selections because you want one of everything. The staff is WONDERFUL and we were treated as "regulars." A little pricie but New York is New York and it's worth every penny. Abboccato, meaning "a touch of sweetness" in Italian is appropriately named, HOW SWEET IS IS !"

"We had a delicious meal at Abbocatto- a salad of spring greens, entree which was a Friday special of grilled salmon served on a bed seeded slices of cucmber with a yogurt sauce- the salmon had a perfect charred grid pattern, but was firm and broke into tender flakes. My husband had a pasta with meat sauce- his favorite thing to order, and he declared his to be the best. The waitress poured olive oil for dipping the Italian bread. We shared a bottle of wine, then had an exquisite panna cotta with raspberry sauce- he had a small scoop of gelato. To our surprise the server brought each of us a glass of a mildly sweet dessert wine. The service was seamless and non-intrusive to the meal"

"Really outstanding service, from the moment we walked in the door and they offered to seat us even though the rest of our part hadn't arrived yet, to keeping our water glasses filled as we lingered a bit after the check was settled. My arancini and special artichoke agnolotti were excellent, and the pistachio sundae was also tasty. Would definitely return."

They accommodated all of our needs and with 4 different personalities, that wasn't easy. Yet their staff made it look that way. "What a special evening! I arrived ahead of my guest, whose birthday we were celebrating, and asked the maitre d' if a candle could be added to her dessert. He, and everyone else, was so attentive--solicitous in fact--of us both. The special prix fixe "Red Sauce" menu with wine pairings was wonderful, and the candle arrived with dessert, as promised, along with complimentary glasses of Sambuca. I will definitely return at the first opportunity!"
