Santa Barbara Certified Farmers Market produce, California Seafood as well as product from the whole Pacific Region are just a few of the treasures that make our ‘coastal cuisine’ special. Our cuisine is seafood oriented, but offers a wonderful selection of meat as well, such as wagyu beef, kurobuta pork and foie gras. We are committed to sustainable processes and use organic and local product as much as possible. Our wine program focuses mainly on Santa Barbara County wine, but also has strong representation of wines from other major wine regions as well. A sample of our seasonal menu is available via our website, as well as our large party menu.
"the food was terrible. service was mediocre, they had 1 server working, although i believe they only had another 2 tables in the restuarant. costco eclairs for dessert.
Very bad all round."

"I ordered the tasting menu with wine pairings. Every dish, though well constructed and good quality, was way over salted . Also, a sablefish was served in a small deep bowl that made it extremely difficult to eat with proper manners, poor choice of tableware. The wine pairing was appropriate, no surprise pairings but also no comment on the producer, vintage, etc., only that it was an Albariño or a cote du rhone. In addition, the chairs are worn out, I thought I was going to break the seat when I first sat down, felt the spine of the chair my whole meal. Servers were all very friendly and attentive, the room is very quiet and peaceful. A big improvement would be to simply remove the salt shaker from the chef."

"Dinner with my husband at Seagrass on Tuesday evening was delightful. The chef does a fabulous job of presenting the dishes, and our waiter was superb. I will say that a dish with a listed-on-the-menu ingredient of "forbidden rice" should have more than the teaspoon of rice that was on my plate; similarly, "candied walnuts" in a salad should mean more than one strategically placed walnut half. But the prices were reasonable, so overall we were very satisfied."

"First time using open table, being used to having a live person to confirm my reservation, I was pleasantly surprised that the reservation was made, and everything went smoothly. Will use open table again. The Seagrass is a wonderful restaurant, with very good, friendly service. The tables are set apart enough so you are not disturbed by the adjacent diners. Nice blend of music to enjoy your dinner. We had the three course dinner, with the wine to compliment the course. Each wine selected was a wonderful compliment to the meal. The entire meal was very good, the wine was good and we had ample time to enjoy each course and each wine. The desert and wine was perfect. would recommend the three course dinner with the wine service."

"The chef understands fish at a higher level that most and his preparation of it was sublime. We had dinner there last week and then canceled reservations at another restaurant to come back for a second dinner at Seagrass, it was that good. The black cod and farmed raised king salmon where among the best I have had anywhere."

"The service here is always top notch, and I always have high expectations for the food! I have eaten many exceptional meals here. This visit, my halibut dish was lacking flavor, but others in our party loved their dishes. My dad had the Australian Wagyu Steak Frites, yum! We will be back! We especially love to visit for their special early 3-course tasting menu (before 6pm). Nice romantic setting."

"We came to Seagrass to kick off a bachelorette party; received exceptional service and the food was spectacular. I originally made reservations for 6:45 and we mistakenly got there at 5:45. The host accommodated us even though it was our error. That was the first sign that this would be a great dining experience.
We went all-out and ordered appetizers, salads, main courses, and almost every dessert on the menu. We brought our own wine ($25 corkage) so can't speak to that. My favorites were the scallops & the lavender panna cotta, but everything was delicious.
The restaurant is perfect for a special occasion, or for foodies, or a romantic night out. It was more than I normally spend at a restaurant, but was so worth it!"

"Santa Barbara has some terrific restaurants, and this is my favorite. The food is interesting, delicious and and the menu changes frequently. The chef cooks melt in your mouth pork belly, will cook your fish just as you like it (I like it undercooked which is hard to get if you're not eating sushi) and everything fish, vegetables, fruit is really fresh.
Wine by the glass has an excellent selection, which also changes.
And most importantly it is a restaurant where you are greeted and treated warmly with excellent food, wine and service. Always a treat to go there."

"Seagrass consistently delivers a wonderful dining experience. We've been to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and just a night out. The food has always been interesting and delicious, the servers are enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is pleasant. Look for their 3-course gourmet tasting menu available for more than half off on Groupon."

"Rueben Perez may be young to own a restaurant, but he's not letting that get in the way of the ambiance, service and quality of dishes served at his family owned place. His father, Robert, is Chef extraordinaire! My wife and I had the patio to ourselves on a quiet Wednesday evening and Rueben and his server Jennifer waited on us as if we were the only ones in the entire place (which was not the case). We tried the four (4) course Chef's surprise (I, for one, am not particularly fond of surprises) and after the two complimentary amuse bouche, my palette grew immensely. It didn't stop there, Gambas, Crudo Sushi Grade Scallops (best I've ever had), mi-cuit salmon and two more delictable dishes, a cheese plate prior to the dessert..exquisite"

"If you desire a relaxed, enjoyable fine dining experience, and you have occasion to be in Santa Barbara, Seagrass Restaurant is the place to go. The food is skillfully prepared and artfully presented, and the staff is actually the best part of the meal.
When you reserve a table at Seagrass, it's yours until you're through with it, and the staff makes sure you know it. The food is top quality and obtained locally, and while the skill level is first rate, the level of pretentiousness is exactly the opposite. The menu choices vary with the seasons, but the service remains top-notch throughout the year.
On your next trip to or through Santa Barbara, reserve a table at Seagrass. You deserve it."

"Overall, pretty disappointed in Seagrass. Went for dinner last week on our honeymoon, had an 8pm reservation, got there and were seated outside in this little patio area that was pretty awful. There was no host/hostess but the guy who sat us said there was no room inside, which didn't look accurate. Once sat, we waited a good 20 minutes for our bottle of wine. Our server did not bring an ice bucket for it (we had to ask for one). I had the ravioli for starter and the seared diver scallops for an entree and I liked them both. My wife had a beet salad and the halibut and hated them both. We finished w the cheese plate for dessert which was good. All in all, a pretty underwhelming experience, the atmosphere was boring and our server was slow!"

"The service was impeccable, the atmosphere very nice. I had duck. It was served with pork belly and a deep-fried something. So much for healthy food. Did not have much flavor either."

"Fortunately, my friend and I used a discount coupon to sample a three course meal for a first time opportunity to dine at Seagrass. Otherwise, the offerings were too pricey for us. The downside was that because we used the tasting coupon, we were only afforded the opportunity to try two items for each course from the regular menu, which was a very limited choice. The salads were ordinary; the main entree duck were under-cooked and unexceptional despite the effort at presentation. The only truly masterful course was dessert; however we weren't even allowed to select this course, the chef chose for us, which I was unhappy about. I won't return."

"It was hard deciding where to dine in Santa Barbara for my one evening I would be visiting. I chose Seagrass by researching "farm to table" on the internet. The staff was so attentive, but not annoyingly so. My water glass was always full and my wine was poured for me each time. My first course was the Mixed Green Salad which I believed to be the best salad I have eaten in any restaurant. The goat cheese added such a richness to it and the citronee dressing was perfect. I chose the steamed muscles for my main course. It had pork belly, sausage and onions with a tomato coconut curry broth. There was a crostini served with it and plenty of crusty bread to sop up every last drop of the broth. It was an outstanding experience."

"A little disappointed with the temperature of my steak. It was luke warm. They did fix it but in the process over cooked it. I refuse to let them fix me another. I ate the parts that were not over cooked and left the rest. They did comp the meal. The staff were wonderful. They could have used at least one more wait staff. They were to busy. I will go back again and try something else. Expensive for portions served."

"My fiance and I were celebrating a very special evening and our recent experience at Seagrass was outstanding! The service, the food (the taste, temperature, and presentation), etc., were top notch. the only thing that I would say was a negative was the corkage fee of $25. I think that was a little too high. But other than that, our evening was perfect!"

"Five of us were dining, four enjoyed 2for1 Aaxxess Cheif Surprise specials, the other ordered off the menu. The staff was very friendly, though weren't totally versed in the menu and didn't know where the wild boar was from. We had both fish and game dishes, nice salads, and delicious deserts. The wine was a little off, not sure if it was just the bottle or what. We'll go back for a special occasion and try to sit outside. Other comparable spots are the Wine Cask, Olio e Lemone, Buschon, Duffeys, etc."

"Our second visit to Seagrass. We go for the seafood although there are other items on the menu that look good as well. The service is very good, without being overattentive. We lingered over our meal and at our table as long as we wanted. And they graciously packed up our dessert selections to take home with us. The surprise was that our bill was less than we expected for such an elegant meal."

"The food was on balance good to very good. Service was disjointed. It varied between fawning and disinterested. My order was wrong. Since the rest of my party was properly served, and I didn't want to delay dinner or make a fuss, I ate what I was served which was totally different from my order (ordered fish; got lamb). We were getting ready to leave before anyone acknowledged that I had been served the wrong entree. No adjustment to the tab (not that I was seeking any), no offer of something on a future visit nothing. Very disappointing, but even worse, I was left with the impression that they really didn't care, and were not interested in seeing me back."

"This was our second visit to Seagrass. The first visit, we all passed around our dishes, so everyone could have a taste of everything of the amazing food. This second visit, there was no sharing. We knew what we liked and we were not going to share. As a starter, I highly recommend the Wild boar spare ribs. Better than BBQ pork ribs I have ever had. The other starters are great too, don;t get me wrong, but wild boar is where it is at. For the entree, I have to admit to I am torn. I love the duck confit, but the pork cheeks are amazing and the 2 fish dishes are out of this world...I had the duck confit this time, so I will have to go back for the other dishes. Add to that a very good wine list including a nice Sancerre..."

"Overall we enjoyed our experience at Seagrass. The food was fantastic, but at times the service was a little slow. It took several minutes after we were seated until anyone approached us and welcomed us. Then getting us water and bread was also slow. Our waiter was great. He was very informative and knowledgeable abut the menu and the food. Other than service at times was slow, we enjoyed it very much."
