Situated in the hub of Downtown Tacoma, the Pacific Ave. location provides a casually elegant, intimate atmosphere. The relaxing 4 course experience begins with cheese fondue prepared tableside. Fresh salad follows while your entrée pot heats up. You’ll simmer a variety of tantalizing meats, seafood, & vegetables. Each morsel is hot, fresh, & flavorful. Entrees are accompanied by an array of dipping sauces to add to the fun. Your choice of chocolate fondue is the grand finale, served with a variety of delicious dippers. Many have stopped by to satisfy that fondue craving after a concert at The T Dome, a visit to the Chihuly Glass Museum, or a family outing at the zoo.

"My wife had heard of the Melting Pot, but we had never gone. I finally took her for Mother's Day and I was surprised how nice the restaurant was and the service was excellent. The way you heat items at your table was pretty fun. We will make sure to eat there again!"

"We took a friend out for her birthday and had an excellent time! It was a new experience for us all but was quite enjoyable. Everything about this whole experience was great and I have not stopped singing the praises of the Melting Pot to everyone I met. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a girls night out or a romantic evening. I love this place."

"The Tacoma WA location is really disappointing having been a regular in San Diego. The front desk is really rude and snooty. Three visits to this location and three times the front desk starts the evening off very poorly. It doesn't matter if you are early, late or on time for your reservation they make you wait. It hit ridiculous, on Mother's Day weekend, they had our table ready, we were on time for our reservation and true to their form .... they made my wife and children wait to be seated, while I parked the car. They actually said to my wife that they would not seat her until I showed up! Other than the cooking method, nothing special about the food.
So we will be finding a new Mother's Day tradition and Special Occasion place."

"It was our very first Melting Pot experience...and we were MELTING! We happen to be there on a day their air conditioning did not work, the heat was almost unbarable! The gentleman at the table next to us kept removing clothing items until he was down to his under-shirt tank top (not pretty)! My eight year old was begging to leave the entire time, it was for sure a less than pleasurable experience unfortunately.

"The only reason it didn't get a 5 star for service is that I think our waiter was new. He did really good, but it sounded very much like he was reciting a script and it was clear he was a little nervous and uncomfortable. He did a pretty good job. He didn't ask us one question of preference as to cooking style that we have always been asked before on our visits but I attribute that to his being new and nervous and probably forgot that part. All in all, it was a great trip as per usual. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Tacoma."

"The dining experience at "The Melting Pot" is always nice. The service was wonderful. We had Rashad as our main server. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and his product. He was also serving two other large parties so he had Nathan check on us from time to time. Both gentlemen were wonderful. The wine list was very decent ranging in prices. We chose a less expensive wine and it was very enjoyable. Rashad apologized for not being able to be more attentive due to serving larger parties. As we left he gave us a box of chocolate covered strawberries."

"Spent here on my 5th year wedding anniversary and being my first time here. The corner booth was perfect for the both of us. Our server gladly explained the 4 course experience and it was splendid! Even though, we did not get to our dessert course, the server has given a free voucher for it on our next visit. Sure the food was pricey, but the experience there was excellent along with the staff there. Would definitely dine there again for exquisite fondue dining."

"This was our second time at the Melting Pot in Tacoma, WA. For this trip, we had a reservation at 1400, but chose to wait an additional 35 minutes at the bar in order to ensure Rashard was our waiter. The bar staff was very friendly, courteous, thoughtful, and just the right amount of chatty. Once again, Rashard was outstanding. He continues to be very enthusiastic, attentive, thoughtful, and well spoken. He remembered that my wife was gluten free and kept that in mind throughout the meal. Remember it is rather expensive but well worth it; especially, if you are looking for unique and delectable meal in a romantic setting. To help make the experience a bit more memorable and enjoyable ask for Rashard to be your waiter."

"Made reservations way in advance for a birthday dinner We've enjoyed MP across the US, so we decided to try this one. We valet parked ($6) and were seated quickly; upstairs. We noticed it was a bit warm- but it was a rare 80 degree day. After we placed our order, the waitress shared that the AC was broken. Later, the manager was at the table & we mentioned the uncomfortable heat - he said they were unprepared for early heatwave and that the AC was on a timer. Although the AC was working downstairs, but never offered to move us. Why put reservations up in the hottest area and walk-ins in the cooler areas? Poor customer service, bad handling the situation. I doubt that we will ever go back. It was too hot to enjoy the meal."

"Went here on a date night and left completely stuffed with a smile on my face. Had the traditional Swiss fondue, the Cajun entree, house salad, and yin & yang chocolate fondue. The Oreo coated marshmallows in the fondue made my mouth incredibly happy. I might go back just for the fondue. The entree was just alright. A lot of work to cook it all in the same pot with my husband, and we had differently seasoned meats. Took a very long time to actually eat. Overall a good experience. Not a huge beer selection - nothing dark, which was pretty disappointing."

"The Melting Pot is perfect for a special occasion of any kind. Plenty of choices on the menu and the "cook it yourself" aspect is a fun diversion from a more typical restaurant experience. Our service at the Tacoma location has been consistently good over several visits. It's not an "every week" kind of place, but we will be back for birthdays and the like."

"Late night on a Sunday, so take with a grain of salt. Service was very good, although slightly disorganized when it came to drinks.
Took 5-10 minutes to be seated despite having reservations, AND despite only 4-5 other tables occupied.
Food was excellent, as expected. Some of their cocktails were not, however. One, something with "Breeze" in the title, was a gin based cocktail that was mixed with cranberry and mint.. But tasted syrupy and was too sweet. Would not recommend or order again.
Pricy was decent, and aside from a few quirks in the experience, overall excellent time there."

"I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant very quiet and cozy. This was our first experience as "fondures" and the food was absolutly amazing! Our primary waitress was horrible however. She dropped a crouton in my friends beer and charged him for it! We had to ask her twice to refill our water because she didnt notice it was empty. Ignored us for a long time, we actually had different wait staff notice that we were empty on drinks and fondue and came over to ask us how we were. It was our first experience at the melting pot so in the beginning we had a few questions and she made us feel gulity for not doing our "homework" before we came in! Horrible service from her but amazing food. Catch 22 right?"

"This was my first time experiencing the Melting Pot experience. There were six of us celebrating my birthday. The server was fantastic from a personality perspective. It was a bit of a challenge to get water and drink refills at times. Also, our dinner salads came out right after our main courses, which was quite a challenge space wise. Two of us literally held our salad plates in the air with a free had as we ate them. The topper was all of us putting our salad plates up high on the booth ledge, and they never cleared those until the end of our meal. Good food experience but the pace and service was lacking."

"My wife and I had the 4 course meal. The first course with the choice of cheese (we had the cheddar) with bread, vegetables and apples was very good, they season the cheese in front of you and mix it. The next course was a choice of salad, I had the California salad which was very good, perfect size for a pre dinner salad.
For the main dish we ordered two of the steak lovers. The steak was good, but at $36 a plate, the portions were very poor. I'm glad the meat was good quality otherwise I would have been a bit upset.
The thing that really made the night was the dessert. We ordered the banana foster fondue and it comes with sides such as marshmallow, cheesecake, rice krispy treats, brownies, etc. This was absolutely delicious."

"Rashard was the best waiter in the world. He took time to interact with all age groups at the table. We had a party of 7 (3 were 10 yr old boys) and he was wonderful. We will defiantly request him the next time we go."

"Been to melting pots numerous of times in different regions of the country. This one had good food as always but was lacking on service. Waitress was unknowledgeable about what she was putting into the cheese pot and what was in the cooking pot as well. I've noted the knowledge part because we had a melting pot first timer and its always interesting to find out how it's mixed together, instead of saying here's the cheese enjoy."

"I took my daughter for her birthday, and the server didn't fulfill the restaurant's promise for how they would make her birthday special. We didn't get any specials, no introduction or cooking instructions for our entrees, the server just dumped our food into the broth, and others came to refill drinks and clear our spot. There was another server and she was more invested in her diners. This was not the best experience. And then to start our night, the valet guy blocked off the street parking and wouldn't assist with other parking options since I could not pay with credit or add it to my dining bill leaving me with nowhere to park."

"The food was excellent as usual. We were there for our daughter's birthday and the wait staff wished her a Happy Birthday several times which made her feel special. Our server was excellent and very attentive and explained the menu choices with great knowledge. The new per-person menu selection and pricing is definitely an improvement and well received. Will definitely consider The Melting Pot as a top choice for special occasions and casual dining in the future."

"The first hour was great. We went for our anniversary, but around 7pm familes with small kids showed up and that put a damper on the romantic atmosphere. The service was excellent, food tasted good, and the desert was outstanding. We feel like we would just visit again for desert only because it is the best price for taste/amount."
