"I invited a good friend for her birthday lunch at A Voce Columbus on Monday. At 12:30 on Monday, it was far from crowded. Service was warm and attentive. We were seated near the huge front window. The view, an eye-level encounter with Christopher Columbus atop his pedestal against an ocean of blue sky. A delicious Kir Italiano to celebrate the occasion. Wonderful trumpet mushrooms with fresh greens on a smear (just enough) of delicate sauce. Beautiful ravioli with ricotta and spring-fresh peas with toasted hazelnuts (again, just enough for the crunch and flavor). We shared an amazing and beautiful cake dessert with chunks of caramel, crowned with strips of fresh pineapple. Oh, and the bread. Oh, and the cod. I can hardly wait to return."

"We were disappointed in our most recent experience compared to past meals at A Voce. The food was not as inspired or well executed. Two lamb entrees arrived overcooked, one seriously so, and the side components of some dishes didn't click. The kitchen was also slow, which was surprising, given that we had a late seating and the dining room was over half empty by the time our main courses were served. We are hoping this was just an off night, because we have always been impressed with the food here. Impressive wine list, although it would be nice if they had more offerings below the $100 level."

"Overall, the experience was nice and probably would have rated it higher but the special pasta was probably the worst I have ever had- overpowered by anchovies. The other two people in our party enjoyed their dinner but did not think it was great. Wonderful view, great wine list and service was fantastic,"

"Went for a lunch business meeting on a colleague's recommendation, and it was brilliant. The food was spectacular but it is what I would expect of a Michelin star restaurant. Didn't have a window table but still had a great view - the whole floor does, with those enormous windows. Waiter was pleasant, extremely knowledgeable, direct and succinct. We were not rushed at all and not bothered. Our water glasses were refilled without us even noticing. Very successful meeting much in part due to the fantastic food and great overall atmosphere. Certainly an excellent recommendation!"

Service is very casual, maybe a little too casual for a restaurant of this category. The pancetta was excellent so were the crusted mushrooms. Ravioli were cold and lacked savor. "I was in NY on short trip and had to organise a dinner for six people. Someone recommended Voce, and I am glad they did. There was a lively atmosphere, and good italian fare. We were a bit rushed as some of our party had to leave to catch a late flight, and would definitely go back and take my time."

"I have dinned at A voce several times and have decent experience over all. However, food hasn’t been consistent. My last vist on Fri 5/3 was a miss. I had lamb shank and was a total disappointment. It was supposed to be medium rare but it came as medium towards medium well and 2/3 portion as bone. It has little flavor and a bit tough. When I voiced my feedback to the manager, he told me that’s how it supposed to be and it was the same even when he served it at the other location. He then walked away."

"The restaurant is bright, enhanced by the gorgeous view of Columbus Circle and Central Park. The menu is varied and creative, but all of the dishes we tried were fabulous. There is a huge wine list with excellent wines in all cost ranges. The prices were not inexpensive, but very reasonable for the quality of the food.
Yhis is a must for both New Yorkers and tourists."

"Second time at restaurant in 2 years. Restaurant choice was at request of our daughter for her birthday. Good service and food, but nothing I would consider outstanding. (Disappointed with Umbria spaghetti dish.) Wine list was diverse and good. They didn't time our dessert (we told them we needed to leave for a show), but they nicely credited our dessert order after we left and left a phone message."

"I had eaten once at A Voce 2 years ago and found it to be a fabulous experience. Unique twist on Italian food. I was nervous that it would not live up to my memory. Happily, it did not disappoint. "I went for my Birthday and the food was outstanding. We really enjoyed the al la carte style menu. We started with the beets, radishes, and the pancetta dish. The vegetable sides will last all meal. The pancetta was outstanding, I could have had two. My wife and the razor clam pasta and I had the lamb sausage pasta. The lamb sausage pasta was spicy with a tremendous flavor. The razor clam pasta was superbly fresh. I then had the sea bass dish as my main. We finished the meal with the Bombolini’s. Both were very good. I would go back."

"Seemed like prom night. Full of tables of overdressed kids out on a special night. Group of tourists put their shopping bags on the window sill which destroyed the view for the rest of the room. Waiter keeped stopping by to rush us into ordering. Wine guy was quite good and helped recommend wines to actually go with what everyone at the table was planning to eat. But then the first course arrived long before the wine was poured. Sait staff could co-oridnate better. When time is taken to order good wine, you expect to enjoy with that particular course. Then after all the rushing with the first course, the remaining courses were very slow to arrive. Food was quite good, but the service robbed us of the pleasure of actually dining."

"Amazing. The food was simply incredible and the service was do thorough. Our waiter could answer all of our questions and knew the menu inside out - even the origin of the ingredients. The flavored of each dish complimented one another so perfectly. The place was a bit noisy but the maitre d was so sweet and gave us an amazing table near the window as it was a special occasion for us (next time hopefully we can get one at the window)! She even came to check on us during our meal. Our cocktails were delicious and the men loved their incredible wine selection. Again though, the food - just...wow. It was one of the most excellent dining experiences that I have had in NYC recently. Can not wait to go back!"

"The place is beautiful, magnificent! Tables were spaced apart for quiet conversation. Waiter had a bit of an attitude. Beets were mussy, overcooked. Fennel & Arugula, Chicken salad was lovely. I would come back and sit at the bar to have some wine, and see how that goes."

"Disappointing.. Service just ok...food-a let down. the roasted mushroom salad...well, it was 1 large mushroom STEM,yes STEM split in 1/2... no sign of any other part of the mushroom...stringy-hard to cut, 3 leaves of a baby baby lettuce and a few hazelnuts strewn on top... Split a pasta which came warm not hot. We both had branzino - a bit overcooked...naked on plate except for a bit of citrus whatever. Not sure what else supposedly came with it but that's all there was...need to order sides. ordering off a separate little menu for small starters seems the way to go-veggies and salumi's.
Anyways, not returning. Heard a woman at neighboring table ask about desserts when ordering...why? because nothing on the menu was appealing to her."

"The kind hostess sat us at the best table in the house (direct view over Central Park) even though there were only two of us and it was a four seater! The wine list, contrary to many reviews we had read, was full of quite reasonably priced options, so our wallets weren't left too badly scathed.
Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgable - a great service and simply fabulous food were laid on for us.
The portions were generous, and if only a little bit salty, they were still very tasty.
All round, we were very happy with the meal and left feeling absolutely stuffed!"

"wonderful experience. One of the best restaurants we have visited in the US and Europe. Innovative menu, and excellent help from the wait staff as to wine choice and menu items. Easily compares to best French restaurants and unusual for an italian restaurant. Near Lincoln Center. Only complaint is that that the portions are most likely too large for most people but that is not to say I did not finish the main dish. Everything was outstanding."
